I walk through valleys of turmoil.

Self esteem dredging through damp wet soil

Eyes and ears sensitized at every corner

They stand in line 
their heads bowed low
bedraggled and unkempt
a shocking sight 
this day and age 
their sorry plight  
to sleep at night
not in a warm and cosy bed
but in a doorway 
in the cold 
and in the rain
instead
