Hear the tiny children singing Christmas carols
Reaching out to friends and relations
I haven’t seen all year but sending them my news in cards
Sitting round the festive dining table with my loved ones with
Thoughts of those who are no longer with us

And hearing White Christmas on the radio

Introspection Contest
Sponsor: John Lawless
Inside beliefs of beauty remains sturdy reveries
Never ending facts for my cerebral contemplation
Thoughts from my heart hold reflection with
Rumination and muse calling forth pondering
Observations heed advertence deep within
Soul-searching remembrances crawling deeply
Perspectives of my heart crying out for reflection and
Examination of self-pretending to green fields leading
Cores of scrutiny beneath rigid waters streaming with
Tread and consideration being born from meditation
Inspiration lives inside the mind’s eye of adversity
Obligations ring bells of verses with intimate tunes and
Naturally I bring reverence to my wisdom's introspection

P oetry soup is just an evidence of life
O f a throbbing life that is burning so bright
E vidently poetry on the soup is the ash of
T houghts we breathe, words that we burn
R evelation of emotions, sentiments, aspirations
Y es bliss it is to be in that poetic haven
S o near, so far, big world on small screen
O f soup followed by dinner, dessert and a nightcap
U nique combination of cultures and tongues

First Place win
Contest: How's your acrostic by Judy Konos
***I missed the entry of the poem in the contest of
Adeleke Adeite in the year 2010 and never posted it.***
I ntuition, I've discerned, usually leads to the right conclusion.
N othing is ever so simple that I'd consider it without examination.
T houghts are often tempted to trust titillation instead of theory.
R eflections and meditation always help me in making decisions.
O bservation can be a useful aid to gain a clearer understanding.
S eeking answers through speculation can slant my thoughts.
P erceptions from my heart are reveries based solely on emotions.
E yes that see with scrutiny only gather a glimpse of what is fact.
C onclusions drawn from brooding contemplation is often pretentious.
T aking my imperfections into consideration, I won't judge another.
I deas and reasons change as quickly as the sun sets into the sea.
O pinions are recognized by most people as not being worth a penny.
N ever will I allow my ego to assume my assessments are correct.

I found the end quote but the person
did not give the author of it credit
therefore, I know not to whom to

B bothered by the boogie beneath the bed
E thical senses dismay no longer
T houghts of friends might be enemies
R ighteously holding a fist above your head
A pologize for what?
Y esterdays are nothing but dreams
A nother somebody disappears
L essons both learned and ignored
Memories of us flicker like a candle wick's flame
Yesterdays, I recall, but today nothing is the same
Sleep's become illusive. Each night I am unsettled
Openly, I cry as if my red rimmed eyes are nettled
Uttering a sigh, I gaze at the glowing gilded moon,
Lingering in loneliness while attempting not to cry
Thoughts of you flow through me like a waterfall
Often, I stare at shadows dancing upon the wall
Keepsakes of our life, I cherish with all my heart
Every time I look at them, I try not to fall apart
Eternally, I will be grateful for all that we shared
Please, God, mend my soul, for it has been bared.

I nfinite Heavenly Father, in the light of Your Word, let me be

O mniscient God, I commit myself to Your Holy

Weathered memories
I dream of you as always
Thoughts that linger onwards
Hover in the stillness of the night
Behind sullen shadows
Across silent clashing waves
Throbs of a heart beating
Echo relentless in my head
Distanced from this realm
Beached dreams of you and me
Reminder of our time cut short
Every moment thereafter
A throbbing aching longing
To reunite two souls in love
Heaven awaits with bated breath
