~Do you Believe~

Here's the little twist in my parents home
Spreading fairy dust since I was 3 years old
The prancing and dancing before Christmas Eve
Made it hard to keep an eye on my mother
Who I've seen kiss Santa under the mistletoe
The cookies and warm milk sit on top of a note
Dear Santa, THANK YOU FOR SPREADING JOY!!!

The baking,
The Wrapping,
The Stockings,
The decorations and toys!
How I treasured every magical moment
Until I realized who left the presents under the tree
Once the Christmas Bell Fell
The fairy dust wore off leavening no magic behind
That year was a year I earned the "NAUGHTY" list

Even so, my parents continued with the white lie
Decorating and Pretending Santa was real
My bike on the list was missing that year
I refused to behave and believe in you know who?
The magic inside was gone and dead!

I was old enough to know it was all a lie
The cookies, the present, the Christmas Glee
The naughty list was barely an excuse,
Because Parents worked hard all year long
Encouraging kids to be good in order to make the "NICE" list
Christmas is nothing more than a gimmick to every market
Using Christ and his birth as a reason to believe

BUT, the twist is not how I stop believing
The twist is a fizz, how I brought the magic back
Today, my kids sit and enjoy the presents under the tree
Baking and wrapping, hanging stockings by the chimney
The decorations and toys are worth every penny
Now, I'm the one hyper after eating a few cookies
Now listen, Kids listen well - Don't act surprised!
When you see mommy kissing Santa under the mistletoe

The Itch

I've a growing b-tch
of a persistent itch
plaguing a part down under
in a well-hidden spot
sweaty and hot
tearing my sanity asunder

I long for a table
legs sturdy and stable
for a really quick rub up-and-down
even a toothpick
or any such gimmick
heaven help; it's now inside my crown

Tightly I'm tethered
I grin but nay bear it
for relief lift my legs a mere tad
the heat's volcanic
the swelling gigantic
as far as itch goes this is bad

Mouth starting to foam
I hobble on home
I've mere minutes 'fore madness takes hold
my head's on the spin
an orchestra within
one step from insanity's threshold

Once inside my abode
rev to fast turbine mode
my eyes and my fingers a-twitch
on the verge of cuckoo
I kick off my shoe
with relish scratch the dastardly itch

I curse, for this morning
I disregarded Ma's warning:
"Today sultry and hot is our weather
to avoid insanity
wear shoes that are comfy
not those ones of el cheapo leather."

Coronavirus a Germaphobe's Nightmare

Recently, my ears have heard
Some news that sounds quite absurd
My eyes can’t believe what they have seen
Is this for real, an outright global panic
Regarding the Coronavirus COVID 19
An epidemic that has turned pandemic
Has it been proved to be certain
That this is not a world government gimmick
I may be in serious denial when it
Comes to this coronavirus microbe
But it’s only because this is my worse nightmare
I am such an enormous compulsive germaphobe
Can’t even engage in my usual weekend shoppin’
Friends messaging all early saying, you better get to coppin’
But why rush, it’s my day off I’m home chillin’
Listening to my music cleanin’ and rockin’
They type back in all caps, EVERYTHING'S GOING FAST
I get to the store and of course it was too late
All the water and toilet paper scarce
In such a remarkably short time span
At least they still have disinfectant
Wait, why is Human Coronavirus
Listed on the Lysol can
Well, well, what do you know, it has began
Definitely have to stock up on some gloves and a mask
And if I’m going be under some kind of lockdown
Do I dare google where to buy a wine cask
Possibility of containment, no bueno
Too think, people been trying to warn us for years
I’m so mad I ignored the signs
Remained knowledgeable but yet comatose
I never thought I would live to see
The day where the world gets attacked by Thanos
Drink your herbal teas and keep up your immunity
You might want to also grab a zinc dose
I would hate for me or you to get a positive
Coronavirus COVID 19 diagnose

The Definition of Innocence Part 2

(continued from part 1)

What is innocence
that little boy
whose pulling his toy
with it’s broken wheel
Do you think he doesn’t know that the price of that crack needle
Could buy him a meal?
Do you think he doesn’t, know
that that beer bottle
Is why he bares the bruises on his skin
Is it why he has to force himself to grin?
Is that little girl sitting with her perfectly coifed dolls
Singing to herself so she doesn’t hear the screams
Doesn’t she scream in terror
as her father bursts into her dreams.
And shoves her mom crashing into her little table.
Does she have to dream, to live her fable
And even then,
is she able?
Do you wonder what she is thinking
as she struggles to push the head back on her doll
or is it a way for her to merely, ignore it all
Are you watching with 20 million other viewers
A drone in your living room, a slave to a box
A fly in a web of airwaves
Do you think your government is doing the same
Or are they filling up
Graves
is there an agenda being played
as our minds are swayed
Is this distraction as innocent as it seems?
And that epidemic….An epidemic of having too much food
Begging someone please!
stop us from eating I cant see,
my knees
like it’s the bubonic plague
like we’re dropping like flies
An epidemic!
Could we build a memorial and carve on its stone
5 million died this year
from an this epidemic alone
we could… if we replaced obesity with
starvation
Is it ironic that the fat kids stomach looks just as big
as the starving ones.
What is innocence
Is a boy who just wants to spend time with his grandpa
He doesn’t understand
As his grandpa takes him by the, hand
And leads into the bathroom
To show him the darker side of man
That in that moment he’ll have to grow up
Faster then he planned
Faster then he can
What is innocence
Does it exist in this land
From the time were born
We stripped down, bought and torn
From violence to ****
We’re watched and mimicked
Our lives just a gimmick
To get in our little kids heads
Where innocence treads
To take away their bliss
The only thing that they were born, with
What is innocence
Does it exist anymore
Or in this day and age
Have we closed that door
Forever more?

Premium Member In Times Like These

The farther we move the closer we get,
The distance between is a measure of love,
Bad memories of the past, you two forget,
New memories to create from here and now!

The mind was glued to things of irrelevance,
The office work and petty human politics,
The lockdown has been of great benevolence,
Cementing of love and elimination of conflicts.

The dark tunnel called the civilised world,
Was blinded with gimmick that were never needed,
So harsh in our words, in relationships cold,
Words of reason and wisdom went unheeded!

In the tormenting floods of viral disease,
Breathless, drowning, dying, many survived,
May the education remain when flood recedes,
In light of experience, let good values be revived.

In times like these your wisdom is your angel,
Guiding you past the rough terrains of fate,
A voice of hope, a post for eternal vigil,
It redirects your life by opening a new gate.

Premium Member My Super Superpowers

My powers have few limits.
My powers are no gimmick.
Three blinks, blinked fast,
Grants my powers most vast.
If my wish is to fly,
I can Peter Pan the sky.

Time is mine to travel,
Freeze, bend or unravel.
While invisible as breeze,
I watched Adam and Eve
Grapple over that apple
To end up forever baffled.

I can heal a hurt body,
Smooth what was rocky,
Stop looming travesty,
Derail would be calamity,
But for no one’s sake
Am I able to duplicate.

All evil that I can’t undo
Is because I am not two.
Much that’s brutal and cruel
Still dominates and rules,
Leaving me to feel inept
Despite my powers so adept.

Not That Deep

People love to over dramatize everything but it's not that deep
Acting like they're big time gangsters, but they're not that street
Running their mouths but they were the ones who lost the beef
It's best for them to stay quiet, but they think they've got to speak
I'm tired of the fake gangsta image
I don't know how to take the gimmick
Because you've never had a fight never mind held a weapon
I've been to war and back and hurt myself from depression
I put my battles out there because I've got the scars to prove it
You talk about buying guns, but you can't buy the heart to use it
Acting tough on social media, but no one can find you
Because in person you only act tough with 10 guys behind you
I'm trying to help you see clearly, but your own stupidity must blind you
I don't hear you
You don't mean what you say, why would I fear you?
I've battled my own demons and depression and came out as the winner
You talk like you're hard to try and make yourself seem bigger
Here, let me help you out and make your life a little easier
Just so you know, the police have social media
They can see your posts, so stop with the fake image and posting fake guns
Snitching in yourself, just shows you're a fake one
Never claimed to be a gangsta because I'm not
But I fought depression without a loss
So I've earned my name
Learn the game
When it's your turn to change
You have to take it
Never been the type to dress up who I am, I'd rather let them see me naked
I'm tired of all these fake gangstas who have never been on the street
You think you're Scarface, but we all can see through you, and it's really not that deep

Believes writing for contest certainly enhances.

Vile Creature

You're a creature so vile.
At your mere sight
I have to choke back the bile.

I'm getting wise to your gimmick,
You're astride with every step of mine.
Everything I do you mimic;
You're nothing more then an idiot pantomime.

When my gaze catches yours
You look straight back.
It's that stare I abhor,
For the emotions it lacks.

Your stare is unflinching,
It burns to my core.
My nerves near panicking,
Filled with spectral horror.

Overwhelmed with paralyzing fear.
Reality seems so unclear.
Why are you only here
When I peer into a mirror?

Premium Member A Million Dollar Bill

Have a million dollar bill in my hot little hands
When I present it to cashiers, they poop in their pants
A promotional gimmick
But ever so realistic
When they threaten to call police, I'm gone in a glance

Why Me

Why Me?

It was such a great day as he held me & said I love you
The clouds a white fleece & the sky such a beautiful blue
My heart was singing, my eyes aglow & I thought I knew
Days of happiness, laughter & joy turned out to be so few

His sense of humour; patience & joy surely left him as a boy
And that life’s a gimmick & all else beside him was just a toy
It did not take much to fill him with gloom to spoil our day
Is the whole world against me is what he would always say

Venting his feelings, swearing, anger, swearing & bold strife
Cuts through my soul & my young daughters beautiful life
At first there was screaming, shouting & banging at the door
But alas it’s now physical as he throws us down on the floor

The bashing, screaming, his fists & smelly alcohol breathe
Makes us both so afraid yes timid & long for an early death
Then one day I looked into her eyes and saw her child like smile
And that’s when I snatched her and ran & ran for many a mile

We are now free from this animal & his cruel obnoxious heart
And we sing like young birds that with new life make a start
You see I have been beaten & bashed since I was only three
And for all of these hidings & bashings I’ve always said “Why Me”

Our lives both now go on as we sing so happy & so free
No need to hide, run or clamber up the nearest old tree
We sing, clap our hands, and dance as angels full of joy
You see we are no longer this obnoxious males little toy

Premium Member Neighbor Is a Pirate

My neighbor is a pirate of fame
Who sailed and pillaged from Maine to Spain

I once heard his old parrot mimic
Phrases common to a pirate’s gimmick.

I saw his long broadsword and musket
Looking quite time-worn, used and rustic.

He has a plumed hat, spy glass, boot scraps,
Black eye patch, peg leg and treasure maps.

My neighbor cannot shiver me spine,
He is way too short and only nine.

The Changed Man

the “changed man”

have you seen the face of the “changed man?”
you know, the one who lost the girl but
wants to get her back---
so he converts himself
into the antithesis of what he once was,
in order to get back together with someone who
never was satisfied with who he was to begin
with?

seen the way he cleans himself up now?
(it’ll last until she comes back to him)
seen the way he opens the door for strangers?
(it’ll last until she comes back to him)
seen the way that he’s modified his own personality,
(it’ll last until she comes back to him)
in order to keep from offending her, in order to
(it’ll last until she comes back to him)
be interested in every single word she says, in order to
(it’ll last until she comes back to him)
get back what it was that he lost.

but what this “changed man” lost
was more than a woman, more than a relationship---
what he lost was time,
just as she pointed out when she was leaving him
&
the time that passed is never coming back,
regardless of how much he wants to be together with her
in order to make it all feel like it had some point,
like there was a reason for everything,
like they had been meant to be,
like the storybooks tell little children in
nursery school.

ode for the “changed man” to give up the gimmick &
be himself,
ode to know that there are more fish in the sea---
ode that she might do the same & leave him for good,
(just like she said that she would)
rather than mold him into something that he cannot be.
