Daddy's Little Girl
Near twenty-seven years since he has passed,
Not a day goes by he does not enter my thoughts.
No presence of knowledge this time might be the last,
Our final words were an argument that I've since forgot.
Only a few short days after we disagreed,
My headstrong ways came honestly from dad.
I noticed one morning his right ear did bleed,
He said, "Don't worry sweetheart, it's nothing bad".
Myself I blamed for the longest time,
Re-assurance came from many others.
Was an old war wound that stole his mind,
Is what the doctors told us and our mother.
Seeking comfort in church for the feelings of guilt,
Always remembering that heated moment of shame.
The bond between us that took years to be built,
The stroke he suffered, I assumed all the blame.
Months passed by and more strokes to come,
Whispered words in his absent ears how sorry I was.
Did he hear me say "I'm sorry"..just maybe one?
I sadly doubt he heard my words of sorrowful love.
Before I knew it, the good Lord took him away,
When he was gone, my mind was in a whirl.
As I sit here and write and even to this very day,
I have faith he knows, I'm forever "daddy's little girl".
I hold your letters in my hands,
The words wrapped in swirls of trembling, yet vivid, lovely, handwriting
Bits and pieces of yourself, of your life, the precious life, that you shared with me
Telling me such little details...of the dress you bought, or perhaps the squirrel in the yard
or a brief accounting of the rain that came one morning...
Snippets of a life that went unnoticed, seemed unremarkable
Until......until you were gone.
Until I began to realize that I wouldn't have a second chance...another day
to pay closer attention, to ask more questions, ...to show more interest
to look deeper into your wisdom, your eyes, and see the clarity that comes with age...
Your caring,...your patience....your understanding...
That in my neglectful ways, I thought would always be there...
These letters I hold in my hand...ending with words of love....that perhaps I didn't deserve...
You would have said, "I understand"...."It's all right", ..."I forgive you"
But,........ can I, ...will I, .... forgive myself?
My resentment is like a parasite.
It’s barbed wire hooks have burrowed deeply into my beating heart.Pulsating it’s poison
into my smile
It’s displeasure so nauseating I lay feverishly under my covers
I want to forgive you……….I want to take all of my bad memories, all of the horrible things
you say
Stuff them in a box, locked in chains
Toss it into the Atlantic and then walk away
My pride is like superglue on the soles of my shoes
Preventing me from getting unstuck
Like a fly caught in a web I fought my way out.
I will push the words from the deep recesses of my chest
Let them pour from my mouth like ancient water fountains in Athens
I Forgive you.In these three words I release the parasitic anger that has clouded my
beautiful soul
I will admit it............I've made mistakes myself.
When You Said…
“…That's why no one likes you…”
My self-image went askew.
Stunned, my heart turned very blue
when painful thoughts began their coup.
I tried to render hurt eschew.
As through my head it flew.
It happened ere the morning dew
Had brought its early view.
But nothing stopped your angry spew
Nor the pain that pierced me through.
I wondered if you even knew.
Angry words can stick like glue.
I tried my best forgiving you.
as self-loathing began to brew.
It happened ere the morning dew
Had brought its early view.
Although I think you have no clue.
How your words in my thoughts grew.
Here are the words I have for you.
I love you and shall not say adieu.
Prayerfully I have prayed at the pew.
It happened ere the morning dew
Had brought its early view.

For all the words spoken in pain
I'm sorry
sometimes it's hard to see the hurt words can do
When I pledged my heart
vows were made
and yet you're still in pain
Sorry
forgive me
are words as well
They may be spoken from the heart
when eyes are truly open
only then does forgiveness start
I blow the dust off the frame, the image their
is still the same...
Memories we left behind, so many words said
and not so kind...
As time and days pass by, your face flashes to a
different time....
A day when reading aloud and sharing a meal
was all it took....
Now these times I write down like so many chapters
in a book....
I hope where you are now is pleasant, and one day you
will know how much you've meant....
A phone call would be a blunder for my words wouldn't
sound fair, so I write this poem with my thoughts as
only I can share....
Ring the bells, beat the drums, and sound the horns,
Evil has been conqueror and a lost soul have became reborn,
My sunshine of light was slowly slipping away,
But I buckled down harder and bow to my knees to pray.
Dear Lord, I have sinned and shamed your name,
I allowed myself to get caught up and played in Damien's wicked game,
I was the main piece in his game the object towards his victory,
My soul was almost taken and my Faith in you was almost history.
But Lord, you did not let me slide away you grabbed hold of my hands,
And you told me, "My son do not listen to those lies because they're not your plans,"
Thank you Lord, for once again extending me your grace,
You saw and heard that I was in trouble so you swiftly got me out of the wrong place.
Tennyson, I also got to thank you for being that wonderful friend,
And even though you're not physically here I know our friendship shall never end,
You heard the words that I stated and heard my cries,
But all along you never left my side because you had your own surprise!
I had gotten so caught up in my wicked thoughts and I had needed to vent,
But I'll gladly bow down to you Lord so that I too can repent!
Forgive me Father for I had allowed myself to become misled,
I had you in my sight but I had allowed Damien to get into my head.
With your guidance and strength I know I can overcome it all,
And with my absolute Faith in you Lord I know I shall never again fall!
Also, I'll like to thank all my families and friends that showed me their concerns,
With all of yours prays and blessings the Fire Pits of Hell shall not have my soul to burn!
I have a support system that immediately came to tend to me,
And I realized the problems that I was having were not bigger the burdens of my community,
Sometimes I feel so amazed to realize that I have came so far,
And on other days feel like a pickle jammed into a gigantic jar.
But I know its my Faith in you Lord that keeps me afloat,
And within that Faith Lord I know you'll always give me hope,
Life could sometimes be as complex as the studies of biology,
However, words in their own manner could be quiet simple so Lord I hope you could accept
my apology!
Faith is the key through Heaven's Gates
Climbing this hill grabbing the next rock..
Stepped on a flower I couldn't see in the dark..
So my words and some water hope to bring it back to life..
I know my sins and words I will have to answer to some night..
But I pray for this flower so innocent and trusting..
Still my awkward steps made a mess of everything..
Should have walked around or searched for a stronger path..
But God knows my intentions although soon I will feel his wrath..
If I slide down this hill, a sacrifice for this flower..
My faith should go stronger leaving you with the power..
My silence should be gold, only you know whats real..
I only hope this flower could rise to a place I could kneel..
