One Hundred Christmas Dinners

The birth of Jesus is the cause for us to celebrate.
No Frankincense and Myrrh; we’ve learned a different trait.
Some celebrate in splendour the manger and the hay -
driving home to join Jesus and are missing Christmas day.

One hundred Christmas dinners never make the plate.
No one wants their presents, Christmas cake or celebrate.
The empty chair is stared upon; no one has the taste,
so one hundred Christmas dinners go to waste.

To a stranger whose been lucky in the run to Christmas day,
who reads a little paragraph that’s quickly thrown away.
Never gives a second thought for those in time of need.
Just one less for Christmas is a message they should heed.

On the other side of life, death has left a sudden sting.
There is a hundred people where this message has to cling.
Kin and friends must gather to farewell a parting soul -
Christmas day means nothing when the need is to console.

One hundred Christmas dinners never make the plate.
No one wants their presents, Christmas cake or celebrate.
The empty chair is stared upon; no one has the taste,
so one hundred Christmas dinners go to waste.

Silver bells on tinsel strips decorate the room.
Flashing lights in windows hide the reigning gloom.
A passer by would note the house is full of Christmas cheer.
Christmas time will be recalled - for this memory each year.
Christmas time will be recalled - for this memory each year.

Premium Member Fond Farewell, a Tribute To Our Fallen Heroes

When our flag is torn and burned I yearn
For an America I once knew.
When our patriots fall I hear the call
Of cold blood red, white and blue.

And hearing the talk from those that mock
The beauty of our beliefs,
I’m reminded that freedom’s price
Isn’t always pure, sweet peace.

As the eagle dares in places where
Some will never see;
Higher ground where love is found
America aims to be.

God bless all those who gave their all
That others might remain,
In liberty’s light through day and night
They did not go down in vain.

Sail on, sail on,
Sail onward homeward bound…
Making this world a better place,
True freedom you have found.

Though human thoughts and words cannot
Apprehend all your good treasures,
Laying down your life for friends
Goes beyond all human measure.

Sail on, sail on,
Sail onward homeward bound…
God bless you all who gave your all
That we living might sleep sound.

All you noble warriors
And lovers of democratic dreams:
Salutations, admiration,
Laurels of inestimable esteem.

From now on through eternity
To thrones of noble realms;
We give thanks for all your selflessness
And bid you fond farewell.

The Last Farewell

The End, a dazzling beam of tranquil infinity
Where darkness is loveliest, I could gladly soar
Far into the glimmering galaxies in dream's serenity,
A blazing bubble buoyed, yearning to roar.

A voiceless stream where the stars everlasting
Take contemplation in joy's exalted strands,
Where Nothing transcends the space overflowing,
Impenetrable in the canvas of aspiring Sunlands.

True, I so loved the glory of living thunder
Of clamorous winds and bellowing seas,
Of skylines' azure hills of grandeur,
Of passions that stretched and stretched beyond seams.

I take one last farewell, a child of earth
Prized to rest among heaven's gilded clouds.
A modest cottage, beautiful in its silent breath
With an infant's smile, a soul without bounds.

I now close my eyes keeping that defiant glare
With wolf's courage, an imperiousness that never dies.
My God! Can I look upon one last time, eternity's flair
And share the splendor of that dust in the skies?

Tree Swallow

inspired by “Farewell,” a digital image by Sara G. Umemoto

I fledged you from my open hand –
feathers becoming wings
outspreading. How
do you teach yourself to fly?

I feel your breath and pulse against
my palm. How could I
hold you? You
disappear into sheer blue sky.

Fawke's Night Farewell, a Vignette

Nights end,
Fireworks all spent
Bonfire dies down
Embers glowing softly
As fond thoughts of the evening
Warm the heart

The Princess Her Celestial Missionary

Remembering once when yet a child; gazing..
Quietly through the rear window's glass as time
Within a dream it seemed; she, holding tightly unto
My teddy bear tiny eyes slowy watching be this world
Disappeared while tasting but these, salty tears; echoing
Their voices colourful images and faces ? Still, swirling about
The air love waving it's farewell a sea lives left standing at that
Beauty's gate whispering into teddy's ear look baby, tis Genavieve.

Goodbye To Winter

A last hurrah of snow and ice
Winter's farewell, a parting sting.
But waiting there to take her place
The welcome arms of coming spring.

All around life is stirring
A reawakening mother earth.
The warming soil rejuvenating,
Bringing days of colour, and rebirth.

Short cold days, soon forgotten
As the sun sits higher in the sky.
Oh, the joy of changing seasons
Cherished each, as they pass by.

Farewell Its Verity

Farewell, the theme of life,
after seeking world hardly with a knife,
none can we stop - reaching – the den of pride,
we have to go alone following a bride.

Farewell a sense appears a while,
hard to get it back, the lost secretion of bile,
tears flow a moment like the majestic river Nile,
none can we stop – reaching – the den of pride.

Farewell – we mean – detachments of hearts,
no longer found roaming – the certainty of marts,
shedding all the memories,
memories of the past, happiness and worries.

Farewell – the tears stand fake, dripping away love,
happiness thrown away, hatred wins above,
stop shedding tears with no meaning at all,
the tears hamper the view forming a liar’s waterfall!

Strive hard for triumph or see farewell again,
shedding fake liquids, no palpable pain,
I promise to keep farewell alive, with less joy and death,
and feel the meaning of farewells truth, hard passing the last breath.

Heart's Journey

Serene is the tide at the sea at night
So calm and quiet just like my mind
With the moon that glows on its water surface
A picturesque of my heart, young and helpless.

Until one fine day, wind rushes as it blows
It came unexpected, strong rain falls
My mind seems so bothered as it starts to cruise
To now wavy ocean, full of courage and false hope.

This heart of mine started to navigate then
Along with the consequences of the tide might bring
Unaware of the sudden twist of my fate
On this endless journey, will I ever be saved?

Didn't even notice how it came to my knowledge
That I'm already drowning on this voyage
For these twilight days and stormy nights
Seem to lure my heart but I need to fight.

Too late before I'm about to persuade my mind
Not to dwell on this conquest of my life
For now my heart sways with the wind
Sailing in a far distance where I've never been.

Now that the dawn is here and darkness was gone
Why I've still seen my self from afar?
For I have to bid the shore with a sigh
Together with my farewell, a sad goodbye.

Premium Member Legitimate Love

Legitimate Love

Executed for marrying the illegitimate like Christians
and Soldiers St. Valentine died for someone else’s love
to flourish a convict for his own mellow convictions

His last farewell a letter signed ‘Your Valentine’ is all
that remains from the cross I suppose he melted away
on apart from bitter decadence flowers and chocolate

What a sweet turnaround from persecution
who knows whether one day at supper time
there is enough to eat for everyone when

at last swords might trickle cocoa butter
and poppies bear no grave reminder of the trenches
when crusades and grenades are persuaded to rest in quiet Peace

Until then and while material consumption favours greed
and warfare makes the coffers overflow in plenty for the few
I shall carry the cross to the market have my nails done for the rendezvouz

not impaled in my hands cherish the thorns not crowned on my head
and admit that my overeating of sweet cupidity will deprive unfortunate
others of some basic necessities which could of course be purchased

With a love other
                     than that expressed with
chocolates and flowers on one day alone

Goodbye

you are more of a stranger now
than before we even met
i should throw out the memories
fold your name into a paper airplane
and fly it south
it’s just an ache i can do without
i don’t even want to think of you
i want you expunged from every crevice
effaced from all my floors and walls
i want you completely scraped off of my existence
because i can’t deal with all the residue
leftover crumbs of a sour love
yet my heart begs “just one more hour, love!”
but i can’t bear another second with you
so here it is, my last gift to you:
a final farewell, a heartsick adieu

One Last Song

write my goodbye, as only you can
removing all vagueness, so I understand
let the lyrics sing of what your heart reflects
of my love's sorrow and the after affects
one heart strong and one heart that is weak
where it lays wilting petals, strewn at you feet

write one last song, write it only for me
to sing in the dark as your spirit breaks free
a dance that ends as your arm slowly falls
one slipper that is left at the end of the ball
a sonnet of farewell, a poem from your heart
one last goodbye as it all breaks apart

Why Do You Shake When Around Me

In your presence, a trembling dance unfolds,
Why do you shake, a mystery untold?
Each moment shared, a delicate quake,
Like dropped perfume, memories break.

At my mom's farewell, a somber day,
Our worlds collided in an unusual way.
Others observed, a subtle connection,
In shared grief, a silent reflection.

Amidst the whispers, a lingering desire,
Yet, your silence fans love's quiet fire.
Why won't you call, unveil the enigma?
In the unsaid words, emotions stigma.

Around me, tremors echo unexplained,
A dance of nerves, feelings unrestrained.
Perfumed memories, a fragrant cloak,
In the unspoken, our hearts bespoke.

Embracing Goodbyes

In the shadows, I feel the bonds grow,
Attachments so deep, emotions bow
Their absence sparks a flame
Love and friendship that lasts the same

As they depart their echoes remain
A harmony of separation pushes the heart in strain
The friendships true a love that is so dear
In my heart’s chambers, crystal clear

The fear of parting, a clouded sight,
I trust that God will provide the light
Through the trails unkind
I seek strength within my mind

In every farewell, a chance to restart,
Hope blooms within my delicate heart.

AT THE BRIDGE

We stood lost in thought at the edge of the bridge
Seeking answers to our hearts, just out of reach.

The memories we shared linger like a mist
In all my dreams, her face continues to beam.

Hands wave in farewell, a bittersweet swing
The last words we shared spoke of that final image.
