Premium Member Ty Cobb Baseball's Past

OL'E TY COBB OF YESTER YEAR,
WAS A GENIUS IN SPIKES, OR SO I HEAR.

HE RAN THE BASES WITH A BURST OF SPEED.
LIKE ADRENALINE JUNKY IN TIME OF NEED.

STOLE SECOND BASE WITH HIS FOOT HELD HIGH.
A SERIOUS THREAT TO SPIKE ONES EYE.

LIT UP THE CHARTS, WITH ALL HIS STATS.
TRIPLE CROWN WINNER AND THATS A FACT.

NINETEEN-ELEVEN (1911), COBB SET THE PACE.
WITH A FOUR-TWENTY(.420) AVERAGE, HE STOLE EIGHTY-THREE (83) BASE.

LED THE LEAGUE IN TRIPLES FOUR (4)TIMES.
HOMERUN KING NINETEEN-O-NINE (1909).

CHECK HIS STATS, HE LED THEM ALL.
THAT TY COBB COULD PLAY BASEBALL.

THIRTEEN THOUSAND-0- SEVEN-EIGHT(13,078).
NUMBER OF APPEARANCES MADE AT THE PLATE.

DON'T FORGET THE BASE ON BALL.
TWELVE-FORTY-NINE (1,249)AND THAT'S NOT ALL.

FOURTY-ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX (4,186)HITS.
THE RESULTS OF THE WAY HE SWUNG THAT STICK.

BATTING CHAMP ELEVEN (11) DIFFERENT TIMES.
WON NINETEEN TWELEVE (1912)WITH A FOUR-O-NINE (409).

LED EIGHT TIMES, IN TOTAL WITH HITS.
LED STOLEN BASES WITH A TOTAL OF SIX.

EIGHT-NINETY-TWO (892)TOTAL STOLEN BASES.
IMAGINE THE LOOK ON THOSE CATCHERS FACES.

TWENTY-TWO-HUNDRED FORTY-SIX RUNS.
AFTER TWENTY-FOUR SEASONS, HIS CAREER WAS DONE.

HE ONLY STRUCK OUT SIX-EIGHTY(680) TIMES.
OVER TWENTY-FOUR SEASONS, THAT BLOWS MY MIND.

HALL OF FAMER, THATS A FACT.
WITH HIS NINETEEN-THIRTY-SIX HALL OF FAME PLAQUE.

GEORGIA PEACH IS DEAD AND DONE.
JULY SEVENTEEN SIXTY-ONE. A

A HUNDRED YEARS HAVE COME AND GONE,
THAT TY COBB LEGEND, STILL LIVES ON.

Almost Christian

Almost Christian

The old famer came out of Church one Sunday
As he had done many, many times before.
This Sunday was not much different

After the service, he walked up to the minister
and said, I know Jesus has done for me more
than I could do for myself and others.

But I also know most days I don’t really Love
Him. Maybe on some really good days I do.
So, I am at best Almost Christian.

The preacher thought a moment and said,
When you make up to your wife are you then
only almost married.

The Old framers known not to smile. Smiled
Turned and walked away much happier
than ever before.

My Day

What a bright does the day
When her lantern lights and laughs
I ruminate your replica
But I’d say you are who you are
Bright as just the day

What a father does the day
For impregnates the night
For his lantern reflects
For a new day to be birthed
For God’s creature to abide
In the morn
At noon
In the evenin

What a mama does the day
For births days in day
For creature to breed and occupy
In the morn
At noon
In the evenin
I ponder your similitude
I’d say you are the good
For you conceive each day
And born the day

When a night sinks the day
And the day rest for the day
And creature goes to rest
Eyes shut,
What next?
A new day is birthed in land of the lord
For just a day is life in world

O! Creator
On my knee I pose
This is my morning
Innocent of the day
Energy is no doubted
On the ladder of needs
What a sweet is life
When a goal is acquired
I am a bird
Powerless to flutter
High above the ladder
With weary wings
I am a horse
Having marathons to run, not jog
Yet lesson legs

O! Reviver
Comes to my means
Strengthens my wings
Strengthens my legs
Against my noon
For in the noon
Muscle dwindle
For a run on the ladder of goal

Makes my an eagle
Revives my feathers
Want to fly beyond the ladder
Makes me Achillie Tang
Want to have a smooth swim
In this sea if life
Makes me an air, unseen
Want to dance in this lively life
Without a halt
With less effort
Against my evening
For in evening
Weary and crackled bone
As leaves kissed by the sun
And no more run to run
But my labour I shall reap
As famer reaps the crop

And I await the day to sink
And when the day sink
And closed are my eyes
Though darkness
A new day is birthed in a land of white
Where dwellers dress in white
And I shall honoured
With angels ballad

Achillie Tang is a fish.

Premium Member Tight ****

Tough in spending even in abundance of resources
Indifference shown to priority of any needed purchase
Giving is rendered a gruesome punishment to mankind
Hall of famer to the accuracy of the expression of feelings
Tight fisted, closed minded and currency conscious in all situations.

A swollen wallet ironically ignites the need for fewer expenses
River accumulating water to the point of flooding but never overflows
So in control of the inside irrespective of the nature of the outside
Even the cheapest budget suffers the axe of a calculative cut down

Premium Member The Book of Ruth - With Apologies To the Notorious RBG

Came from Baltimore by Pigtown
Where they like to lay the law down.
He rebelled against the ground rule.
Had to grow up in reform school.
Got acquainted with a curveball
Dealing pepper by the church hall;
Broke some windows, but he left the scouts impressed.

He was an OG All Star, and a first draft Hall of Famer.
He had manners like a gomer, but he played with no disclaimer.

Pitched in Beantown, till they tossed him.
They’d regret they ever lost him.
Joined the Yankees as a slugger.
Jumped on southpaws like a mugger,
Shooting rockets past the flagpole.
Fattest wallet on the payroll.
Made a called shot, and the papers did the rest.

He went from zero to sixty lodged in Murderers’ Row,
With women, booze, and money all just part of the show.

He led the A.L. in hitting.
Chased after ta-il, no quitting.
Played ring around the bases
In a dozen pennant races.
He scored doubles at the wet bar.
Belted homers before radar,
And suffered his publicity’s intrigues.

He was an urban legend; no one ever saw him on TV.
And in the house that he built, there’s a tribute to his number three.

It was series after series.
All the bookies have their theories,
Parsing records and statistics,
Charting sinker ball ballistics,
But in the end, most everyone agrees:
He never had to play the N*gro Leagues.

Kings and Queens Pt. Ii

The humble little troll,
Walk's about going to and fro !
Yet there is still a thing you ought to know/
Where at times very patient to most,
As if some lost seagull is on a flighted coast !
Now let the truth be told/

It's quite a blessing to get kicked in the dust,

Within a 16th century world in a rush !
Now over the village now,
A lonely famer sits beside his plough/
A slight mist to a mellow hush !
A clear crescent clamor dew/

Yet who knew ?

This old world would be in for perilous times !
Falling for ill but yet faded chimes ?
With King's and Queens/
Making a Court Jester go totally crazy !
Maiden Mariam got a little bit lazy ?
Still within this vast kingdom/
There is still much more madness !
A queen turned from God/
From glad to sadness ?

Their clear motive was a sudden rebellion !

An angry troll became a bit perplexed,
No mention of there being any massacres/
A king and queesn to set the pace,
Brought on the abrubt silence amidst the place !
Torn !

That kingdom still stands amidst a perverted plan,

Twisted heals with basking blue velvet heals !
Strong yet being pulled up by he roots ?
The castle at night was frozen in time !
Being filled with a unique slendor/
With lush wisdom being filled in a moderate decadence/

Handsome carriages alone filled in cobblestone streets,

In the distance,
A flutist in full ceremonial garb/
Hence, the opened door !
To a much far away place to reach/
Simply put the land of nothing more !

Ye men of ole/
A chalice dancer escapes the smug of the mirage/
In imagination,
Brought about a hindsight to a magical kingdom !
Through much anticipated but practiced wisdom,
It's magic urb approaches/
To tell us our radiant but distant future !

Premium Member Dennis Eckersly Tribute

USA MLB PLAYER
Cy Young Award winner.
Oakland A's # 43
A's won AL Series 19&9
Baseball Hall of Famer

Funny, how we meet folks!!
          .......
Dennis, I only met on the phone,
several times.....
I was working for a Cable Company
in the '80's.
Dennis was a customer who I sold
cable channels to and also sporting
events.

He was one of the nicest, most
humble people in sports I ever
was blessed to speak with.
No attitude, no "I am too
important to talk to you"attitude!
No answering machine.-)))

Those short moments with Dennis,
a truly accomplished person with 'real'
schedules, left their mark on me.

I won a trip to Spring Training from
ESPN as I was one of their Sport
Scouts. That trip to Afizona was the
trip of a lifetime. I got to see Dennis
play in Scottsdale.

Today, the most insignificant folks
cannot text, cannot email and worst
of all never answer their phones!
We have lost the art and loving
another in our own "Trivial Pursuits."

That's so very sad to me. I am glad
I met him prior to cell phones, texts
and emails. And the Internet!

I have a real sense of Dennis as a
Human Being, and will forever cherish
that voice, his kindness and warmth!

             God Bless Dennis!

My brother the reflective other,
Thoughtful father, contemplative friend,
Helpful mend, curative treasure,
Michelle is Rob's God send,
Lucas his venture, a raison d'être,
My bro' bucks the trend,
One of a kind measure, to whom we're indentured,
So humble, Rob's beneath ground,
Big heart, quick start, smart ardor,
Laughing at life, he'll be among the standing at the end,
Rob's a Hall o' Famer but he'll decline the corridor,
Not one for honor, another's honor Rob would rather tend!

Premium Member Lazy Day In the Sun

It was a lazy lie around in the summer sun day for the farm
The kittens curled up next to the dog, the pig came from the barn.
Famer and his wife were busy getting the crops ready to harvest.
No one seemed to notice the animals on their slumber quest.
This is the place to sleep thought the kittens, as they curled up.
Loving the sun’s rays, which brought their temperatures up.
The dog allowed everyone to sleep around him on this day.
And the pig was glad to finally get away from scratchy hay.

The way of life

I wouldn’t say that life is fair, but sometimes the wind blows in our favour. We do sense tension in the air, every time life issues a disclaimer. In life you may be coerced, in to becoming a self blamer.

What bitterness and grief has life in store for me? If only my good deeds redeem me from being a shamer. You may mock me for what I am today, but tomorrow to your deeds you will be a claimer.

Whatever good you do along the way, will come back to save you when you need acclaimer. On earth you have no time to spare, on your target you should be the aimer. Life can be shocking sometimes, but no need to be the exclaimer.

It’s little things that do count in life, if to your soul you want to be a tamer. A friendly smile or a nod of the head, to your self-esteem you will be a reclaimer. Or a kind word that might earn you respect, or for which you could enter the hall of famer.

Honour your word and gain peoples hearts, to your reputation it won’t be a restrainer. Seek wisdom in the womb of life, to your dignity it will be a maintainer. Don’t sell your soul for what it’s worth, unless you want humiliation to be your enslaver.

The Late Hulk Hogan

He was a wrestler but he died and he's gone for eternity.
He was a WWE Hall of Famer and he starred in Rocky III.
He had giant muscles and Hulk Hogan was his name.
He has perished and the WWE will never be the same.
Hogan was one hell of a wrestler and an actor as well.
This man had a terrific career, he was bound to excel.
Hogan had two children, he had a daughter and a son.
We've lost a wrestling icon at the age of seventy-one.

[Dedicated to Hulk Hogan (1953-2025) who died on July 24, 2025]
