Premium Member Chasing the Sun

Rushing through each day, as if I had not a care,
head long toward the sun screaming, "catch me if you dare."
Dripping drabs of liquid sunshine burn my deft eye.

While seeking answers to the question, why, why! Why?
Into the sun I run, my skin so hot and dry,
as the dusky penciled pastels of twilight smear.

Through tight clinched lids the sun glares, blind I'll be I fear,
always grasping for truth, but my head just can't clear
my thoughts on the tautly stretched canvas of my mind.

Race and run and fill my lungs, still I fall behind
playing catch with the sun, and all I seem to find,
I'm racing toward the horizon of tomorrow.

Please, one more chance, for a moment I can borrow,
but blithe sun denies me, leaving me in sorrow,
while in the distance the light slowly fades to dark.

Truth or naught, who can say, the end is cold and stark
the meaning is lost in life's fading rainbow arc,
enveloping me in my sadness and despair.

Dripping drabs of liquid sunshine burn my deft eye
as the dusky penciled pastels of twilight smear
my thoughts on the tautly stretched canvas of my mind.
I'm racing toward the horizon of tomorrow
while in the distance the light slowly fades to dark
enveloping me in my sadness and despair.

Follower of Christ

Here's a story of a man
Who fought many battles of the mind
He made one mistake
And started to fall behind
Wounds of the soul took physical form
Unusual wounds not of the norm
Slashes on his arm, his shirt is torn
Blood on his face, his jeans are worn
He walks alone and looks to the sky
He falls to his knees, and cries out why
A voice calls out "Remember Me" it said
Next thing he knows he's up in his bed
His wounds scarred over, his shirt still torn
Blood on his face dried, his jeans still worn
A scar of a cross has formed on his arm
A divine intervention has saved him from harm
This man in the story is me
My heart and soul for all to see
If you feel your life's in a bind
Here are some words to keep in mind
"Substisto Fidelous Utlilitas Terminous"
No matter how much your life will break and bind
"Remain Faithful Until the Very End!"

Premium Member The Last Day of a Racing Greyhound

It’s three am and I need to pee, feeling thirsty
My water bowl is empty and it’s getting warm in here
My crate is barren, the cement is cold on my legs
I hear my brothers and sisters cry, they are next door
I hear the door open, my masters are yelling, scaring me
My crate is opened, they shove me out, I pee a little
I get hit with a belt and screamed at, I head to the track
I finally drink but my stomach is raw, gurgling with gas
I am given some white substance, then a small treat
I am pulled to the lineup, I hate the sound of the horn
I see the white fluffy bone, or is it a bunny?
I run, run as fast as I can, my brother trips me, I fall behind
My leg and foot are bleeding, I cry out but no one helps
I am then taken to a field, I feel scared, alone, starving
It is quiet, until I hear a loud bang, something hits me
I wake up at peace chasing butterflies and seeing rainbows

Nothing Else To Add

2/4/19
"Nothing Else To Add"

Thinking clearly
I wrote this sincerely
From the one you regard dearly
Nearly
Everybody having theories
Times getting eerie
Yearly

It didn't always turn out ideally
She really
Wanted to get touchy and feely
Telling me how she could heal me
After I did some wheelies
Next she said feel free
To take her up on the deal and see
Soon she'd reveal the key

For both parties it was beneficial
And rather simple
Not no piffle

Yeah I said it
There's no need to edit
It's becoming pathetic

Far too many
Being petty
Filled with envy

Get ahead or fall behind
On the move, or soon to unwind
Saw it coming, or being blind
Struggling, or doing fine
Missing or seeing the sign
Not thinking or using your mind
Being rude or kind

Can't be sad
Had
To get after what I didn't have
No matter if I was doing bad
Sure , life can be sad
But I'm not staying mad
I got to give it a stab
If it's something I want to grab

Still glad
I don't care about any fad
There's nothing else to add

Hear My Cry

Hear my cry into the night
I let my tears go free
no longer can you hurt my pride
unleash me to the sea

I hope you're happy you made me feel
like i might be part insane
now i will look up to the sky
or wallow in the rain

take me back to the day
when you pushed me to the ground
and now i will get back up
and walk away without a sound

I will not fall down again
and I will not fall behind
I have found some piece in my heart
and I found some piece of mind

Hear my cry into the night
I let my tears go free
no longer can you hurt my pride
unleash me to the sea

Phoenix

She is shadow on their screens
Yet it takes forever for her ghost to fade.
They cannot know her nor
give meaning to her metaphor.
She is alive and sees things clear today-
Further than planes fly,
And she hears her hoarse, new voice.
Their searchlights can't blind her
As they chase the darkness in the badlands
of her soul.
All their walls are fading light,
Death-throw shivers against riddles of
Foregone conclusions,
While an innocent sky in her eyes fills with
dreams of levitation.
It's not hard to fall behind when
Gravity's hands grope and drag,
Pull you down as
They preach prayers, chant myopic mantras
while watching women burn.
Turning her head she shuts her eyes and
crosses her fingers, not hoping but knowing
Their lies hold no power-
These parodies of men now falter in fear
As they watch her rise.

Life's Final Retreat

Cast to the side sitting out this ride
the clocks move forward with speed
but I'm left to need to breathe

Iced down bubbled up feelings enraged
stolen moments caught lives rearranged
things never to remain the same

Living on a borrowed dime rolling dice
coming up snake eyes against father time
letting the bills fall behind

A fine line to hang out for all to see
hidden secrets too heavy to hold
telling stories getting old

Spark embers higher and higher
desire leaks from a fractured soul
in the distance the bell tolls

Let go delusions afloat in whispered dreams
mixed thoughts both sour and sweet
upon life's final retreat

Premium Member Take Some Time

You never call me anymore
all my messages you ignore
Am I hiding behind closed doors
in my room lying on the floor

We used to have so much fun
now you act like I'm no one
Watching you behave so cruel
I realize I was just your fool

I guess we finally drifted apart
why does it end why did it start
I am alone but I'm not lonely
lying here with thoughts of if only

If I left my room I would stay unknown
in a sea of humanity I swim alone
Pity me not and look away
I prefer shadows and evening shade

You never call me anymore
all my messages you ignore
Am I hiding behind closed doors
In my room lying on the floor

I believe true love will find me
but I know in my heart you won't leave
If you walked through my door
would I be the one that ignores

We are grown but become childish
inconsiderate we do as we wish
Don't mind me if I fall behind
I just need to take some time

Behind

Usually, I fall behind
Where I’m supposed to be.
One step back (or more), I am
In perpetuity.

Papers pose in giant piles,
Awaiting my perusal.
All entreaties for removal
Meet with my refusal.

Clothes stack up in massive heaps
In hushed anticipation –
Will the washer or the drawers
Be their next destination?

Catalogues lay scattershot,
Their pages marked and folded.
If I were a child, I would expect
That I’d be scolded.

Luckily, my favorite shows
I summon on-demand.
Watching them the first time ‘round
I never could have planned.

Still, I get to everything;
I’ve got it all controlled,
Although I’m often reading news
That’s two or three weeks old!

Passionate Love

PASSIONATE LOVE

Will I find it
when will I know
Will I see it
how will it glow
Sitting here with patience
wanting to know
glistening from the inside
longing for the unknown
Steaming with immense passion
starting to fall behind
Today I write of misery
yesterday’s emotional kind
Tomorrow I breath of happiness
strong strengthen from within
Visions of all the past times
raw and soaring like the wind
Take all your learned decisions
thoughts that changed your ways
Create that perfect person
one that makes everything ok
As yesterday and tomorrow become chiseled
passionately within your mind
never fear and always remember
everything is of fated divine
All those memories that shined the truth
tomorrow’s future
shadows of revealing youth
Find each other’s own ones self
following the path of that source of wealth
As you will know once you see
the creation that’s made you feel free
Only you can find yourself
despite following the truth
Keep yourself above all others
ensuring happiness while staying true
As in the end the only thing that matters
the only reason you exist
the only common thing you have recanted
Is the truth down deep within your souls abyss
The mold that has enlightened the light
keeping it lit for years and years
The only thing that describes yourself
that you can’t have to hold
lasting longer
lasting forever
lasting longer than the truth to be told
Is Love

Premium Member The Editing

Another day starts,
Another day of my life's editing I have
to begin:

New things to write,
Other things to correct and
Some old things to erase!

Yesterday,
The same things I did
I thought that I had finished with
editing

But

New events proved me wrong
Thus
Made me start all over again:
My writing
My correcting
My erasing.

Tomorrow,
Another day will be born
The same procedure I would have
To follow,
You see, my dear friends,
Life is full of lessons:
Some good
Some bad
Some painful
Some pleasant.
Thus
Life is never boring
For
It is always in motion,
Always in constant change
And
Myself have no choice but to keep up with
her pace
So
As life dictates its terms, I have no choice
But to obey
Therefore
I have to keep editing my life in perpetuity if
I don't ish to fall behind!

Old Dreams

Old Dreams

In the evening when the moonlight;
Gently falls on land and sea.
Old dreams come like wolves at midnight;
Come to howl and torment me.

Dreams of youth their glory ended;
Fall behind sweet sorrow's vale
Dreams of love by sorrow riven,
Like the desert winds do wail.

Dreams are foolish, so uncertain,
Each of us a price must pay.
For we must rise to meet the morrow,
Rise to face another day.

Still tis hard for oft they linger,
At the edges of the heart.
Dear yet ever so illusive,
They tarry long and don't depart.

Sadness creeps into my chamber,
When I think of long ago.
When hope danced to the mystic music,
No one else but I could know.

Dreams like vapors, quickly rising
Rise like smoke and fade away.
Unachieved and unaccomplished,
At the breaking of the day.

Dragon Dreams

My dreams
Fight dragons
Men in grim faces
             fall behind me.

My dreams
March across lonely roads
            Shuddering cries before me.

Weeping roars from hanging trees
                      Across the angry rivers.

I am weary.

Where are the heroes that
my grandfather grabbed from distant times?
Where are the sharpened spears
                                eased on mighty shoulders?
Where are the whispering hands---
                Gentle
                  Yet stinging bees
On the faces of my enemies?

Find the armies
         of my friends.

Send them to me
Before my head
Lies uneasy on your pillow.

Premium Member Something Borrowed

Tick-tock ya can’t rewind
Time doesn’t stop or fall behind
Clock hands cut like a sharpened knife
Time doesn’t lose it runs your life

Born with a cry blink then you're grown
Chasing years you’ll never own
Gold turns gray fast and sly
Can’t outpace it don’t even try

Heroes fall and empires bend
Every story meets its end
Watches shine but they betray
Marking life that slips away

No bribes deals or cheat codes work
Time doesn’t flinch and it won’t shirk
Kings and beggars rich or broke
We all breathe time like secondhand smoke

Tick-tock ya can’t rewind
Time doesn’t stop or fall behind
Clock hands cut like a sharpened knife
Time doesn’t lose don’t let it steal your life

Changing the Clocks

Certain clocks obeyed
By springing forward on their own –
The ones on the computer
Or the TV or the phone.

But my old-fashioned watch
Required a turning of the stem
And clocks around the house
Needed assistance changing them.

Our Subaru was trickiest
Though after several tries
The dashboard showed the time
On which our traveling relies.

We’re all caught up now for a while
Until the next date when
It’s time to fall behind and then
We’ll do it all again.
