Changing the Clocks

Certain clocks obeyed
By springing forward on their own –
The ones on the computer
Or the TV or the phone.

But my old-fashioned watch
Required a turning of the stem
And clocks around the house
Needed assistance changing them.

Our Subaru was trickiest
Though after several tries
The dashboard showed the time
On which our traveling relies.

We’re all caught up now for a while
Until the next date when
It’s time to fall behind and then
We’ll do it all again.

Although Hawai'i does not participate in such nonsense (neither does Fort Apache Indian Reservation), we do have power outages which require digging out manuals to re-set clocks. Well caught and reported! Aloha! Rico

Ilene, I just love how you dignify these commonplace events with your inimitable style and wit! Fun verse here about something most of us can relate to. I agree that the car is the hardest one - hard to find the right buttons! ~ John

I can relate - changing the time on my coffee maker is the trickiest for me! I really like the flow of your rhymes on this too :)

Another everyday observation put into your wonderful rhyming style:-) we don't turn the clocks forward here until 29th March - I find it upsets my body clock not to mention all the other clocks that need to be changed manually!!! But I can now do the mircowave one without the instruction booklet lol:-) hugs Jan xx
