Palm Sunday start of Holy Week
is here and our Jesus will speak
to all of His palm waving friends.
I push my way through crowds to see
this loved Rabbi from Gallilee,
aware not how the story ends.
We’re told in Mark, Matthew, Luke and John
of the excitement going on.
Our Messianic King has come.
we throw our garments at his feet
so eager we, our King to meet.
But He is not beloved by some.
He knows the fate awaiting there,
an ending he will not yet share.
Triumphant shouts and welcomes ring.
He still has words we need to hear.
He speaks and all the thousands cheer.
He does not tell the dreadful thing
Awaiting Him at Calvary;
the Cross and punishment to be.
Only we few will follow there.
We only have a few short days,
in which to listen, sing his praise;
before His burden He must bear.
On Good Friday the world will dim
and bitter tears will fall for Him.
We’ll follow Him to His cold grave.
On the third day, stone will be rolled.
We’ll long recall what we were told,
He had to die our souls to save.
But first must come the Holy Week,
and dread betrayal of the meek
and saintly Man who loves us so.
He’ll walk the path this Holy Week
with all the torture it will wreak
to fate that only He can know.
The cheering voices will be still
as He bows to His Father’s will.
Blasphemous beastly betrayal braced brutal barren babble. Bruising baleful backbites
become branding breach.
Following our precious Savior
on his journey to the cross
we don’t know where we are going
or the over-whelming loss.
We are shouting “Halleluiah”
as we hold palm branches high,
unaware our blessed Savior
knows He’s going forth to die.
At betrayal in the garden
He still heals the soldier’s ear
and before it even happens
He’s forgiven Peter’s fear.
On the Cross, he asks forgiveness
for all those who caused his death.
Forgiving of wicked sinners
was Lord Jesus to his death.
Won 2nd in cotest
Following our precious Savior
on his journey to the cross.
We don’t know where we are going
or the over whelming loss.
We are shouting “Halleluiah”
as we hold palm branches high,
unaware our blessed Savior
knows He’s going forth to die.
At betrayal in the garden
He still heals the soldier’s ear
and before it even happens
He’s forgiven Peter’s fear.
On the Cross, he asks forgiveness
for all those who caused his death.
Forgiving of wicked sinners
was Lord Jesus to his death.

To whom it may concern
Listen to the wisdom I share
For I have seen many things
Of the heartaches that you bear
And I have known the loneliness
That none can comprehend
And no one came to comfort Me
As I faced My journey's end
I have given all I have
To people I' ve never met
And after all My sacrifice
Some will still forget
I've known betrayal like none before
And still, I ran my course
The world has all but forgotten me
And showed me no remorse
So when your pain takes control
And they say that no one sees us
Show them this I sent to you
For this is a letter from Jesus
I find it hard to forgive
But we are taught we must
To be a good Christian
We must first forgive others
Before God can forgive us
But I find it hard to forgive
I cannot let go the bitterness
Or it’s associated baggage
The betrayal of those I thought friends
The deceit of family
The put downs and the knocks
The adversities and animosities
I cannot make that commitment to forgive
All I can do is promise to try
Try to climb that ladder of forgiveness
One painful rung at a time
And if I do succeed
In becoming a better person
A more forgiving person
If I manage to slowly climb the ladder
And earn Gods forgiveness
I will only do so with His grace
And not by some great effort on my part
