Best Extraordinary Poems
So often, I contemplate
The extraordinary consequence of being
Beholding majesty of dawn
In quilted colors, salmon blush and coral pink
When laced with morning blue, I think
How can I explain the world, its beauty unsurpassed
And my ability to see
What I can’t fully understand
When tasting of the fruits at hand
Of cherries red or grapes of violet vine
To still the wine that teases thirsty lips
Why and how, I can’t explain
So then again I ponder, how it is that I remain
To bear the fragrance of the night
When sunset in its splendor kisses a magenta sky
To yield forever souvenirs
Listening through my eager ears to graceful melody
Be it Whip-poor-will or Lark
As they pierce the lonely dark
I still can’t comprehend
And yet my hands extend
To sense the purity, the brush of velvet snow
To compliment all that I am seeing
To boast the consequence of being
An ordinary day begins
Make a cup of coffee
Watch the sun rise
The lonely ticking clock
Watch the minutes make an arc
The extraordinary dismissed
How long till the day is over
Never in history are we this alone
Never knowing vastness
Some never know closeness
Give up togetherness today
Give up even on emptiness
I am the void and avoid
Nowhere to run from me
No choice but to be ordinary
Let loose the lonely demon
Give my chiding angel a break
Let them watch the star with me
The careless sun circumambulates
Around those happy people
Around the lonesome waiting
Without judgment, we all go round
War and peace are ordinary
Pour a glass of wine at dusk
Make a toast to the receding sun
Alone I try to find company in one
At least the sun and I make two
But, the setting sun leaves me
The moon fails to show up
If only I could be like them
Ordinary like nothing in the universe
All of us special in the vastness
Crowded by simple lives
Me unable to comprehend
Interdependence is
Extraordinary
You are unique in all you do,
even the darkened sky remains blue:
to allow the stars to stand out
as those radiant eyes of woman
that shine more than them at night!
Dream and make wishes before dawn;
let them flee to your nearest star,
but ask them not to go too far!
My poem is dedicated to Carolyn Devonshire
on her birthday.
Every day is the same,
Ordinary,
With me wishing that something would happen,
Making it extraordinary,
The only time that I know I'm extraordinary,
Is when I write,
The words flowing from my fingertips,
At peace,
Not worried what others think of me,
For once,
Peace,
Solace,
In my crazy middle school days,
No worries,
All else fades,
And I am alone with my words,
No cares,
But to create beauty,
Something that will move someone,
That will touch someone in ways they can't explain.
To my sister Marcie
You were the epitome of a true Southern lady.
Your hospitality reigned warm and generous
as a summer's day, guiding you the consummate hostess.
You played life's roles with grace and compassion.
Strength and dignity kept you anchored and
confidence validated your presence.
You embraced family and friends in a circle of love
giving hugs magically lifting spirits with your smile
binding us to you for a lifetime.
The gray mist of illness vanishes softening
your features in blessed peace.
In the distance a church bell tolls,
golden music transports your soul to heaven.
Tears stain my face.
An old man takes his daily walk, his old dog limping after
hobbling down the city streets, to where it does not matter
familiar faces they do meet, some nod, some at times greeting.
With heavy footsteps he goes on, gnarled hand on his cane, gripping
near church steps, they walk by at dawn, where homeless men are sprawling
ancient man and ancient dog, by trash cans, ants are crawling.
Through misty morning fog, the pair are viewed by God above
heaven watches them with care, covering man and beast with love
angels know the when and where, and guide their footsteps homeward.

in some situations we might feel like our faces don't fit
some times we might feel like we want to quit
but I encourage you to hold on tight
and in our Lord delight
all things are possible if we believe
his blessing are there for us to receive
he makes ways where there seems to be no way
he is there to help us every day
he makes us all unique
when its him we seek
he takes ordinary people
and does extraordinary things
nothing is too big or small
whatever your hearts desire
he can give you them all Amen,

Thank you for the stupendous day
So simple, yet, so profound
No need to do anything extraordinary
Because the universe resides simply
With white snowfall sanitizing my mind
Your imagination working like magic field birds
Warbling as you go
Let's create the countdown to amazing places together
Be my beloved even when your heart aches
Because we reside on the right side of the divine
Mindset where simplicity prevails and entails
What I couldn't do without you
Nobody's going to understand the breakthrough
On the bright side of the fluid mind
Where starlight ignites your kindness
written last year after Maya Angelou"s death-
Men wonder wherein my charm lies-
I'm not good looking or athletic in size-
I try to tell the guys,
But some think I'm telling lies.
I say to them,
It's how I carry myself-
Honesty in my eyes,
Politeness in my talk,
Gentleness in my actions,
Conviction in my walk.
I'm a gentleman
Extraordinaire-
Extraordinary man,
That's me!
I walk into a room,
And smile at those around-
I greet each one with cheer,
And soon the girls surround.
I don't brag or shout-
It's not me I talk about.
To the guys, I say,
It's how I carry myself-
Not egotistical, but proud,
Not meek, but not too loud-
Just old-fashioned gentility,
Ladies first, then me.
I'm a gentleman
Extraordinaire-
Extraordinary man,
That's me!
My secret lies within-
I'm neat, don't cheat,
Don't lie, steal or swear,
And always try to be fair-
But it's more than that I say to them.
It's life that I embrace-
It's how I carry myself-
Urbane,
With grace,
Never trying to disgrace-
I'm a gentleman
Extraordinaire-
Extraordinary man,
That's me!
Flickering flames glow from a fire,
the Monarch butterfly,
a juicy burst of citrus fruit,
a slice of pumpkin pie.
The California poppy,
a goldfish swimming round,
lava rock, a hearty veg
growing underground.
A terra cotta planter,
an oriole flying by,
a new day dawns, it's radiance
compliments a crimson sky.
Most importantly it’s vibrant hue,
will mark danger zone,
so let’s celebrate the shades of orange
from peach to copper tone.

Contest: The colors Have it….
He was born in Genoa,
and his mother was Susanna;
and he set sail at the age of fourteen,
to begin a new exploration age!
His father Domenico
gave him inspiration and courage...
while his three brothers: Giacomo,
Bartolomeo and Giovanni ventured with him
on his long and dangerous voyages,
and accused of many atrocities...
they were sent back to Spain in chains!
A visionary with an extraordinary man's ego,
followed in the footsteps of Marco Polo...
and in his final days, he died a disappointed man!
Your wit is as sharp as any knife,
for it never gets dull from neglect.
And an aura surrounds you in life,
your presence has a magic effect.
You share your wisdom with one and all,
a simple truth you dispense with pride.
And lift me up from a painful fall,
confidence evident in your stride.
You cultivate what is best in me,
as I feel a smile slowly begin.
And you do your best to help me see,
sadness should never be locked within.
I feel so lucky to have found you,
you are an extraordinary blend.
And you do what no one else can do,
for you're both my lover and my friend.
when someone comes
to you with so called democracy
and racism,
it is extraordinary
arrogance to never
accept in life.

On a moonlit rendezvous,
feelings merge and interlace.
And like a creamy toffee,
sweethearts meld as they embrace.
Love garners sweet candied dreams
from reality's mirage.
And hungry, compliant lips,
share a gummy bear massage.
Sweet, sugar-coated wishes
morph into chocolate hearts.
And make peppermint kisses,
scrumptious as honey-dipped tarts.
A confectionery treat,
love is something you treasure.
For its indulgence brings such
extraordinary pleasure.
I just found your last letter to me,
And read it while watching a blazing sunset,
Emulating the happy sun you drew in your letter.
Ten years almost to the day, you killed yourself,
I'm left with sadness, a cerulean sky,
And passing clouds, toasted orange,
Like heated iron in a blacksmiths forge.
You were a forger of enthusiasm, bipolar some say,
Yes maybe but by any standard extraordinary,
Up down like a sea saw, making words from polystyrene.
An extraordinary life, an extraordinary death,
An extraordinary sunset.
