The Time of the Summer Solstice

The Time of the Summer Solstice

Drums pulsing solemnly presage the break of dawn,
bonfires ablaze dot this auspicious June morn.
On the shores of Albion, Druid priests converge,
as Earth, Sea, and Sky do mystically merge.

A circle of white-robed diviners and bards all a-chant,
amidst sacred oak and holly, as their hazel wands enchant.
The Dawn Ceremony begins the Summer Solstice,
awaiting the Sun’s majestic rise from the eastern abyss.

Rapidly waning is the dark of Spirit Night,
as the Sun God waits to unleash his most brilliant light.
Proudly the Summer King wears his crown at Alban Hefin;
but at Alban Arthan, he relinquishes it to his Dark Twin.

The Wheel of the Year relentlessly turns,
as each season ever changes and thus returns.
An eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth,
it manifests the wonder of nature and Mother Earth.

Drums pulsing solemnly presage the break of dawn,
bonfires ablaze dot this auspicious June morn.
On the shores of Albion, Druid priests converge,
as Earth, Sea, and Sky do mystically merge.

Notes:

Alban Hefin – the time of the Summer Solstice, The Light of the shore, by June 21st or 22nd. Light is at its maximum, and this is the time of the longest day. Starting at midnight on the eve of the Solstice, a vigil is held through the short night around the Solstice fire.

The Dawn Ceremony - marks the time of the sun's rising on this his most powerful day.

Dark Twin - the Sun-king is called the Holly King or Dark Successor (Tanist) in the Druid Calendar who reigns during the waning light of the year, until winter solstice.

Alban Arthan – the time of the Winter Solstice, called in the Druid tradition Alban Arthan or the Light of Arthur. This is the time of death and rebirth.

The Wheel of the Year – an annual cycle of seasonal festivals observed by the Druids and many pagans. It consists of four or eight solstices and equinoxes.

Spirit Night - The Summer Solstice was one of the three Spirit Nights of the year, the other two being Beltane and Samhain.

Also known as May Eve, May Day, and Walpurgis Night, happens at the beginning of May. It celebrates the height of Spring and the flowering of life.
Colors are the Rainbow spectrum. Beltane is a festival of flowers, fertility, sensuality, and delight. Selena Fox

In the cosmic blast, eternal fires create the cosmos.
An incensed mind is like a tarot deck close.
Awareness of human feelings' everlasting nature
soul-igniting, head-raising, flame-purifying feature

Beltane, a Pagan festival, goes by the name of May Day.
It occurs between the equinoxes of Ostara and Litha.
The festival commemorates spring in the best way.
An event tied firmly with fertility in the pagan era

It occurs three hours after the sun has set.
worn a wild beast to depict earth, fire, water, or air.
Toasting nature, life, and future by fire dance minuet.
A fairly grim festival that may aim out of a dare

Event held in 2020 during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Had put all who participated in the COVID threat.
I feel it is unfair, as holy sites are closed in each town.
It is not moral to leave others out of this event yet.

The keenness amid the eternal inner stillness
Ignites God's everlasting flame upon reality.
I travel in the light of heavenly happiness.
which is the vowed road to the vivid hall of deity.

The Celtic solstice brings forth enchanting fear,
equinoxes altitude from the moon’s apex glow,
the occult in its nature is rendered by the head seer,
while zenith frees the warmth from the snow.

Conjuring charms during a midsummer night,
the warlock is clairvoyant with intense sorcery,
into the constellations the magical trickery takes height,
spices and herbs bought down by the corner mercery.

The witches do incantations from the dark book of spells,
while the druids make potions with earth’s natural clay,
they spread the mystical tonic down the town’s well,
as the little children stir mushroom and clover brew all day.

Secrets and cryptic imaginations make mysterious dimensions,
hidden paths into the forest is where they transfer souls,
the warlocks detain travelers from distinct condescension’s,
as the arcane beings bring forth the magic of the trolls.

All these circumstances are due to the night of the solstice,
dreams from afar travel long distances towards the earth’s axis,
the wizardry of the town all started using mystical poultice,
only one time a year is when the occult’s enchanters practice.

Watch the sun appear
On this Solstice clear
Over Stonehenge monoliths.
Sing the sacred song
Honoring the throng
Of the ancient spirit’s gifts.

Let the sun stand still
As we feel the thrill
Of Midsummer’s energy.
Summer has begun
Now our hearts are one
As we mark in harmony

Power of the sun
That our Solstice's spun,
We gather to celebrate.
Let us be aware
Of the love we share
Where still Druids congregate.

The Solstice is a time when the Sun is at the highest (Summer) and the lowest (Winter) yearly altitude as measured from the equator in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “solstice” comes from two Latin words—“sol” (Sun) and “sistere” (standstill) -- indicating that the Sun comes to a stop before reversing its direction. Along with the Spring and Fall Equinoxes, Solstices have been considered in many world’s traditions as the most spiritually powerful days in a calendar year. While it marks the astronomical beginning of Summer, in ancient traditions this time period was known as Midsummer and is celebrated throughout the world in very similar ways even today.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice occurs on the 21st of June, as the Sun leaves the astrological sign of Gemini and enters into Cancer. This longest day of the year is the day for celebrating the life-giving powers of the Sun, giving gratitude to the joys of life, love and manifesting dreams into reality.

Crickets In Head

CRICKETS IN HEAD
I’m a NeoPagan
From the Church of All Worlds
Dedicated to the celebration of Life.
I’m set on a land in the long run
Looking for crackets.
The brooms come higher that I expected
And the hole throws up and has to open its songs.
I have ears to hear them
And eyes to see a deep chair In a green dress.
I find myself between
Sabbat or Pagan festival
Smiling its ok. Look:
Here’ coming Oimelc, Ostara, Beltane
Ltha, Lugnasad, Mabon, Samhain and Yule
Wanting to touch my face.
Probably they rattling
Brushing me out of its night.
And there are others:
Cernunnos and Diana saying it to me:
“Those who have ears to hear
Let them hear
The crickets’ cri cri in head”
Ok ok as I say.
Me and We are programated holler, squeaky

Dreaming the green mats
Of a hit confusión of body and mind
While crickets have a narrow squeak.
Do You know, do You see:
In the new days the celebration is
As in the old days: Crimes, rapes, wars.
The Solstice and Equinox
Walk on bloody air.
From the Zenit to the Nadir
Wo/men pass their artificial time
Living by one’s wits.
Earth relates the Universe as we perceive it:
The Solstices and Equinoxes
Are tired of our criminal freak
And Dane Rudyar’s
“The Astrology of Personality” is broken
Founding fur in our dreams
In our stew.
Word, our Word now
Is tired and rap
Robert Heinlein’ s “Stranger in a Strange Land”.
Crackets sing Neo-Paganism
In its black wings
As in the Cauldron of Cerridwen and in the Holy Grail
The day of equal dark and equal light
Beginning anew.

Premium Member Blue Moon 2016

I’ll light a small fire beside the river that night,
And stand and gaze up to the sky.
Hopefully no clouds, the moon will be full,
A cold second night of July.

It’ll be peaceful and quiet, everyone else in bed,
No buses or trucks or cars.
I’ll stand right there, relaxing my thoughts,
Just looking up through the stars.

I wonder about what others choose to do,
Do when the moon is so pure.
Photography or trading? Hunting or surfing?
Or fishing with a special night lure?

The moon intrigues me; the eclipses, equinoxes and solstices,
The waxing crescent, waning gibbon and a quarter.
And every month I choose a full moon to meditate,
With the sand, fire, air, moon and water.

This is the first full moon after the solstice,
But this July’s a bit more appealing.
It’s this year’s blue moon which can only mean,
There’ll be two nights of spiritual healing.

I Rise and Fall

I rise and fall like spring tides
And soothing autumn winds
Like effervescing chemical solutions
And gliding butterfly wings
I rise and fall

Like aeroplanes departures and landing
And emblems on flagpoles standing
I rise and fall like ocean waves
And the landscape across the land
I rise and fall like someone’s hand

I rise and fall like the sun and moon
Like equinoxes and solstices
I rise and fall like speed on speedometers
I rise and fall like summer breezes
 And the temperature on thermometers

underground governmental labs extract organs,
neon blood drips slowly to the concrete floor.
organic roots sprout growing through the cracks..

Equinoxes

An equinox is, for everyone
all over the earthly globe,
a time when through the center of Sun
(that essential daylight strobe)

passes the equatorial plane…
This paired biannual state,
of both autumnal and vernal twain,
once again we celebrate!

The Cranium and Premium of Injustice

Take society’s attitude
Towards indifference as given
Although women abhor gratitude
For societal foibles forgiven

In the face of the Christian faith
That burns within a woman’s soul
When Providence breath
Scores a salutary goal

In consonance with the motto
One cheek slapped, the other cheek slapped
In a pilgrimage grotto
Where 2Pac rapped

All eyes on me
As though a woman were leper
Society loved to hate with glee
Alongside a pauper with no caper

To boast of
In the sight of men
Who grudgingly brandish love
As an inducement to women

Treated with contempt
Used, oppressed, dumped
In a haughty attempt
To get machismo start-jumped

In the full bloom of the sickness and ugliness
That womanhood suffers
In huge doses of humiliation and sadness
With no compensatory offers

For remorse unfelt
Hair tousled and unkempt
Expectations raised and unmet
In an egregious event and attempt

To gloss over injustices
Unleashed on the fairer gender
In equinoxes and solstices
That demand women’s surrender

Although the new millennium
Demands fairness
In the cranium and premium
For women’s unstinting happiness with boldness.

Transitioning Seasons

her time ends
the last kiss to
the air, her
frost retreats
passionately,
moves cold hands
from life

her polar opposite
moves romantically,
and gracefully
into poised position

like Alice Coltrane
across piano keys
transitioning the
equinoxes in melody

a harmony of
greetings,
they love
gentle yet harsh

the various
degrees of intimacy
seen in forward charges
and retreats

life in stages
ordered music
her sheets
freeze time,

his heat moves
at steady tempo
like heartbeats
to drum beats

diminished colors
not death
,but a quieter
stillness looms in air

with fire and passion
a formulated exchange
colors do bloom brighter

,and stems and limbs
reach higher
in the sky
much lighter

their touch contrasts
one of the other
but both submit
, and obey one another

even with stubborn
grips,
as seasons change
hellos and goodbyes
often linger
no one truely
wants to let go

as they greet, each
prays one for the other
safe travels to and
from where thou came

In Love and order
the power to regulate
weathered heartbeats
keeps them near
and far
like human dreams
aspire to touch the stars

although weary
we to must endure change
be it in life or death

we are but a temperat
touch in transitioning
seasons
from sleep to awake
between Heaven
or the coldest Hell

A Study In Equinoxes

Beautiful Venus smiled upon her Mars
Diving through time and space, falling from stars

With hooded eyes she moved to entice him
Green hips waving about, a flower stem

When Spring revealed her kingdom to his awe
At last Jack Frost's cold heart began to thaw

They slowly sway together, building trust
and into the virile clay he did thrust

Sweet succulent nectar she did siphon
In full sun, the fruit began to ripen

He grew much stronger, harvesting the field
Took such pride in the bounty it did yield

But time caught up to him and he grew old
Autumn leaves mourned his light that now shone cold

Venus held him close and they danced once more
his body weakened and her waters tore

Taking one last gasping breathe, another
The wailing son now proclaims her mother

Not necessarily mythologically accurate...but a cute little story about the seasons.

Premium Member I beg pardon, I'll try again, to gather

I beg pardon, I'll try again, to gather
From your verse the voice, to align it with my own song,
May words flow in a magic pulse, under the clear moonlight,
Swaying in metaphor and dream, until I respond to you.
Wreathing my thoughts in the ephemeral flames of stars,
Amongst the equinoxes of soul and solstices of arched heart,
With love still kissing my bare soles,
I will drop into the night's carafe the gently diluted essence of life.
Oh, how I have loved! With longing suffocated in blossoms serene,
Harvesting hopes from dewdrops, upon corollas of dreams,
And I love, with a love that weaves beneath a cloak of clear skies,
Twirled in a dance of leaves, where nature in her secret smiles and whispers to me.
Under the canopy, my waiting builds castles on shifting sands,
With my heart, the flickering lighthouse, yet never it falls,
The umbrella of anticipation open to clouds of soaring flights,
Where happenings congeal in waits, distinct and pure.
I cannot confess whom I wait for, but wait I do,
Glowing with invisible wings, heart of untamed birds,
And still they fly, oh, how they fly, over seas of regret,
Seeking that song, plucked from all corners of souls.
What to do, I wonder, in a labyrinth of light and darkness,
My path is lost in the gilded web that weaves the horizons,
Mountains and forests rend inside me, waiting to unravel,
And seas of dreams retract, into the same mouth of the unreal, longing for breath.
In this realm born from a poetic anticipation,
Where groves bloom with promises to give and to receive,
And love's quiver rises, a delicate cathedral, finely crafted,
Over the soul a mantle of love is laid, in roots planted and at the tips infinite.

A Solar trims the Earth's waistline,
while Polars bare all the segments,
Springing up those northern steppes leans sublime,
the Vernal Equinox presents,
then, on March 20th, it will shine.

The southern Pole leans the same way,
as the September Equinox appears,
on September, the 22nd day,
though terms mirror a different side as it leers,
it's Summer there, and it's their time to play.

The Winter Solstice 2025 blinks,
the northern Pole hails a Holy day is on,
December 21st freezes the winks,
as the holidays, year-end dawn,
gifts, fireworks, food, and some drinks.

At the southern Pole, they bare it all daily,
as the Summer Solstice, the sun takes sides,
the people are out and about dillydally,
swimming and surfing the tides,
on July 21st, the Cape Town and Rio rally.

The sidereal year is when the planet rounds its Sun star,
and the tropical year, they all straighten out,
though quartered as the calendrical stretched far,
they separate as seasons all about,
named Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, they are.

Astronomically, Equinoxes and Solstices,
Metrologically, they are seasonal sources,
Astro spatial heavenly body's positioned advices,
Metro is a simplistic seasonal of choices,
pros and novices sufficiently entices.
