O Glorious Autumn
O glorious Autumn of melancholic
Gold -
All abouts the brightly lit
Woodlands
Your wonderful artistry behold!
Tinted bronzes,
Darting between awkward firs
Of sobering Evergreen,
Loiter inside mauve havens
Splashed with palest yellows -
And dappled with many differing
Limes
Throughout this variegated Theme;
A myriad of rustling contentment,
Sweetest contrasting charms,
Complimentary...
Softly whispering leafy hues...
Hushed...most elegantly...

Lithaniel and She
The dark wood is breathing blue,

and sense do I the sweet sound

of larks and their legendary love,

and sweeter scents still do I

   drink of Apollo's bidding,

'neath forest roof and billowed sky,

...

Santa Lucias
The highland Santa Lucias
breach the angled bench of sky and earth
with ancient crests dark in
scrub oak outlines
and vast open slopes.

From that world above
atop the grand and cresting vistas
where once dreams were fetched
in moonlit profiles
from deep slumbers

I must have also dreamt the unmoving
mist as it gathered...

Northern England
NORTHERN ENGLAND

Steep hills and sudden

Gouged by ice, and water-formed -

This is no civilized landscape gentle

With demesne and orchard

And sun-kissed downland copses;

It is the terrain of warfare,

Of Northumbrian tearing at Scot,

Of Hadrian walling off the terrifying Pict,

Where the sea is held...

A Dissection of Christmas
Bereft of vim, in copses branches bow
by winter's whims cursed to exsanguinate.
As far as naked gazes would allow
we marveled at Earth's crimson-spattered pate.

Cold skin met woolen mitten as we sought
the wealth of Christmas spirit to convey.
A horde of hands and hearts in darkness fought
'til desolation's...

Premium Member A Bird's Eye View
Soaring o'er the rolling hills and copses in the dale,
Rising on air currents, while friendly winds prevail,
Remaining ever watchful, over seeing nature’s swathe,
A bird's eye view as the fields in sunshine bathe.

Peaceful scene below, serenity in the skies above,
The dove flies gently, a symbol...

An Autumn Walk In Autumn Years
One fine, blustering, autumn day an old gentleman walks from his home,
If anyone wondered where he was going he was on his way to a forest,
The old gentleman walked at a leisurely pace stopping now and again,
Just to see what the farmers men were up...

A February Day
On a cold and frosty morning I gazed across fair fields, woods and copses,
I heard a wood-lark sing a sweet song, so sweet, hairs on my neck raised,
Did I hear it earlier in the month, I thought my ears were playing tricks,
Standing in my back...

A Haiku Anthology - Trees
leaf litter
posted each autumn-
tree greetings

trees laid bare
exposed each autumn-
squirrels dreys

treecreeper
on woodland depends-
small copses

tulip trees
rosewood mahogney-
history

monkey trees
evergreen woonders-
enigmas

tinder bark
silver birch paper—
woodsmen know

sycamore
an old invader—
summer shade

proud and tall
not phased by winter—
Norway spruce

the mighty
oaks home to many—
oceans sailed

bare scratches
spring sap sweet tasty—
trees bleed too

winter storm
trees turn to...

Premium Member Do We Have a Deal
Bike with me down roads that lead to somewhere
Though we don't know where
We'll set up camp in copses of trees at dusk
Hidden out of view
Alone just me and you
A billion stars to light a path to love

And then during the day
When we're off and...

August and the Foxglove
August is mature with shining brown hair the colour of a ripe cornfield
Greying at the temples and his fringe he has clear eyes of deepest blue,
Deep smiling lines of crow’s feet on the sides of his rugged brown face,
He looks all around a strong tall...
