Best Connect Poems
In an island amidst the seamless seas,
lost in the warmth of a dream-like enchanting moment,
I sense a smooth placid stillness and repose.
As the golden ball ascends,
light bids adieu to the dark with a soft kiss -
the sky welcomes her beloved with a vermilion smile.
Mind greets thoughts anew that evoke delight,
when the koels and kingfishers sing hymns of hope.
The morning sky glows in rays of nature's lamp,
warm and vibrant, it heals my soul.
Ten lines taken from the following poems:
1. In My Dream
2. Sunflowers
3. To Leave All Cares Behind
4. Waiting for Light
5.The Glory of Dawn
6. Vermilion Sunrise at Kanyakumari
7. Mindful Moments
8. My Blossoms
9. Soothing Serenity
10. To Belong
Indistinct, they circumnavigate in the raw ~
they’re thoughts unprocessed and unpolished
ethereal and feral, nothing more than impulses really
If it were up to me, I might drown in that sea of ambiguity
and forego all communication with the outside world
forever content staying confined to my private universe
In most instances I couldn’t be bothered
yet at times I’d almost want to scream to be heard
that’s when I’d want to be as loud and clear as I could be
But sometimes the words refuse to form
at times so deep they must be mined
and surface in their own time that can’t be rushed
So I write because it allows me to think at my own pace
I can capture what I feel, what I remember
I can seize it and can verbalize it
I write for different reasons
I write because most people
never ask what’s on my mind when the time’s right
or won’t wait for me to put my thoughts to words
I write because I want to say it right
I want to choose my words
not be misquoted
Mostly I write to capture time
time as a memory, time as a treasure
time as tangible, time as a toy to amuse
Mostly I write to be heard
I write so I can say I’ve done my part
I’ve said my bit and can’t be faulted for staying quiet
I write so I won’t die
without a voice, without saying my piece
without having said all I had to say

touching souls
in labored breath
finger caress
the cheek
smiling into
your beautiful eyes
running though
one's hair
fingertips of emotion
falling to you
as you breathe
into the ear
crashing lips
tasting divine
sweet tasting honey
exploding feelings
as your fingers
play on the chest
coursing sensations
take one's
breath away
as thighs embrace
the waist
these arms
fall around you
palms upon
the back
as i hold you
touching hearts
you already do
to lay with emotion
upon the sand
underneath a moonlit sky
i kiss
lips upon your hand
softly princess
dropping to
the knees
kissing your feet
looking into your eyes
fluttering lashes
i see a star within
sparkling beautiful
it is then dreams
become reality
one dream
in the deepest ocean
comes true
Connect the Dots
For the past hour I have been tracing your profile gently
with me finger. I started at your forehead and traced the
side of your face, stopping at your temple. First stop,
one kiss. Scrolling over to the contour of your
nose. Stop two, second kiss.
Look at those wonderfully
designed eyes. Oh, how they captivate me.
Third stop, fourth stop. Kiss three and four softly
cover your eyes. My finger moves slowly across your
face. It must tickle because you start to wake.
Quickly I pause. Oops, I cannot erase the line I just made.
Kiss number five is slightly out of place,
but it does not matter you still
lay sleeping peacefully.
My finger again acts as beauty's pen.
Tracing down to your cheek, the sixth kiss
is put in its proper place.
Slowly, my finger slides towards your chin.
Dot seven is worthy of savoring
Ever so softly, the pen rises to your lips.
From corner to corner eight and nine reach
their mark. Yes, I see a picture now.
Only one dot remains, but now you are awake
mumbling, "What are you doing?"
I place my finger in the middle of your lips.
"Ssshhhh," my reply placing my lips on of yours
completely fulfilling number ten.
"Good Morning to the sexiest woman alive.
I was just connecting the dots.
How did you sleep? Well, I hope.
You look so beautiful lying there in all your splendor.
Could you feel me covering you with my kisses?
I am sorry I woke you. Go back to sleep so I can finish
tracing the rest of you."
And it is off to dot eleven
There's better singers than me here tonight
Better players that's for sure
I wondered if I'd make it to the mike
I longed to use the exit door.
I didn't come expecting anything
And I'm not craving your respect
I just came along to do my thing
I guess I came here to connect.
Music's always been a friend to me
My solace when I'm feeling down
My guitar plays on in sad sympathy
And cheers well this crying clown
And yet I know it is the same for you
Hide in the music but rejoice
I hear it in the notes you're picking through
And feel it in your plaintive voice
I aint been here for quite some time
Don't know why I've stayed away
Everybody here has been so kind
Why don't I just get up and play
Still got fears running round my head
Doubts that will not let me go
Something crucifying someone said
Some crass remark from long ago.
There's better singers here than me tonight
Better players that's for sure
That's why I never made it to the mike
Just walked on through the exit door...
PLEASE WATCH ME SING THIS IN CONCERT ON YOUTUBE.
IT IS LISTED ON THERE AS ' CAME HERE TO CONNECT' LOUIS SPENCE .
MANY THANKS.
In need of fresh air, and to clear my mind. I could think of no better place than the beach. So hike I did down to the beach.
Sitting on the beach admiring this ageless ocean whilst the crashing waves hypnotizes me into freeing my soul, and dance to the rhythm of the water.
Freeing my coverups and dance I did towards her body of water. No jumping, just gently laying on top and letting her afloat me away. Calmly and gently hugging me whilst washing away my despairs.
Before long I was back on feet. A gentle wave tickle my feet, letting me know I’ll be just fine. Smiling with gratitude, I softly whispered my thanks, and hike I did back home feeling refreshed.

Who is responsible
domestic violence?
in the home...
responsible for rape?
while bullying in schools
escalates?
fact anti-social behavior
begins in the home!
millions of excuses used
drugs-sex-mental illness-debt
alcohol-infidelity-uncompromising
ass-hole
why not blame stress!
to name but a few...
thats' new, slap on a label
anti-social cripple
self centered compelled
subservient with a death wish
co-dependant on a mission
many incapable of raising
families successfully
matching crime to criminal
sooner rather than later
people who want children
most should be screened
the ones that have violent
tendency maybe steralise
these...
protect the unborn spirit
this cycle of perdition
simply 'cause some can
protection remains
the question...
until we fill up our prisons
or doctors fill out prescriptions
or do drugs - prostitution
or some souls
simply disappear
abuse of the sexes disaster
children
lives destined for remand
some cultures self destructive
buck the system for a laugh
self discipline escapes them
some victims choose suicide
alternative families to the rescue!
marriages deplete
truth uncovered
primary social group
breaking down
mere survival havoc wreaks!
social injustice
social acceptance
to live in a relationship
without independence?
when we break the cycle?
we immerge stronger-
children safer
home wreckers
so yesterday
some sexual couples
complete disasters
I deserve a happy life
a happy life I've got
living without violence
is where we all need to start
repeat not the acts of
your fore mothers forefathers
the violence does not work
mental physical verbal abuse
is a hostile mind at work
he's weak disqualified from life
primal evil reactivated strife
programmes of violence repeated
not strong enough in mind deleted
disrespected, feared, without
honor in most cases cannot repair
don't be a victim, of archaic hatred
suffer little children NOT!
this world though numb
Is nevertheless disgusted
authorities ears to the ground
we have heard your cries aloud
take it from one who knows
let all that s@%t go!
don't repeat their mistakes
look inside make new choices
you decide fill your life with
love...
...or misery will connect the dots
A Connect-A-Ku
is a haiku that starts out
in one haiku and...
continues into
another haiku, where it
finally concludes...
unless you choose to
proceed to haiku number
three, just to show off!
In The Great Smoky Mountains,
morning haze aglow with
dewy wonder,
sepia light-winds its way
in and out amid the trees;
I sit on the cabin porch,
a cup of joe, steaming
and look out to see a black
bear cub approaching.
He stops at the nearby creek
to drink, soon joined by Mama
and another sibling;
I sit, silently amazed
at the family harmony
that I see.
I have no fear of bears,
like me, they only want
to be left to live.
As Mama catches breakfast,
I think back about
mornings of cinnamon toast
and fried eggs cooking
in Mom’s skillet.
No, we’re not all that different;
a family meal’s, just a meal,
made better by the gatherings.

A BRIAN STRAND PREMIERE CHOICE Poetry Contest
Brian Strand
I have become numb to the idea of praise
Praying that the preys won't catch
themselves in the aisles of pews
handled by the strength of clout
Smuggled out by strange men
I've become jaded by the blues
Fade to purple so I can paint kitchens and
cook surrounded by new hues
I have become scarred by our experience
There is no healing for the bruise
but I often think we can grow new limbs
and the broken will be of no use
I have become hopeful every now and
then
so I pull ink out of pen to write like
Habakkuk the vision plain upon tables
so they can run and ring wedding bells for
the two
I have become suspicious of the
suspended suspense of new days
Always dreaming of bumping into the new
side of you
Becoming feeble for the opening of hearts
You stay in far away parts and have
nothing to do with today
I've become a pleading thing
Covered in blankets, prostrate on cold tiles
A petrified wood waiting to be drenched
by something different
Something like you watching me in pews
dressed in blue
Covering scars with outstretched open
palms
Marked by ink I've used in daydreaming of
new days
So they covered me in blankets
The petrified good
We are here but brief on the scene of Love
The worlds a stage we war, we peace in life
We find pain to connect, pleasure in strife
Under it toiling endless sun shines from above
Shattered shards porphyry statues we are split
A billion loves have come to pass we choose
A billion times we disconnect we lose
Loves an energy it draws us near to it
We defy physics --rupture Natures Cord
To reject Unity, when we’ve first begun
Independent discreet entities
With hate we grow passion with love we grow bored
Many know, there’s nothing new under the sun
Evil prevails and we treat Love with enmity
Connect and Expect Respect Horn Haiku
How can we elect
Connect and expect respect
And detect correct?

Centuries have rolled,
The generations don’t connect anymore.
They grow as trees in isolation
And don’t make a garden anymore.
They are stories divided in incongruent chapters
But don’t make a readable book anymore
For I don’t understand your language
Nor do you mine.
If my times could be closer to yours
And yours to mine
We can bring the generations drifting nowhere
A bit nearer.
We can build a bridge together.
You can cross the bridge
And come to my times in my heart
The times when the values were valued,
Come to my old village I adored
The village where people had soul.
I will show you my house
The bare walls collapsing and the doors cracking
But standing strong on foundation, the faith
I will show you my garden
The flowers drying and the trees dying
But they preserve the essence of good times.
I will show you the grey picture of my little daughter
Holding my hand
She remembers no longer.
I will show you the mirror hiding my face
Beaming in happiness out of measure
I have left with my times to treasure.
I can cross the bridge
And travel to your times you are shaping
The times when you value people by money
To your modern city that wiped the villages,
The city where people have lost their soul.
You will show me your house
The walls decorated with abstract paintings
But the windows don’t see the sky.
You will show me the garden
People rushing to pluck odorless flowers
But the garden path is all stairs people climb and climb,
You will show me the picture of your little son in color
Holding your sleeve
Not knowing who you really are.
You will show me your iPad
Storing your face smiling in rue
At the uncertain times you gave you.
Let us build a bridge together
And on the bridge
I will take a step forward
You will take a step backward.
I will hold your hand with love
You will hold mine with care.
And let the times meet
And the generations connect.

SAVE THE WOLVES
Connect the circle, give it to one that
needs to find out it's true meaning, to
continue on as long as possible, with faith
in the spirits of all who love
mother earth with compassion.
And love.
Living like a creature of nature shall make
you strong enduring the sorrows
having courage and strength. To
complete your journey.
Say hello to mother sun and father
moon, and collect all the stardust
that falls upon your life with joy.
Drink of the water fresh from the heavens
and collect a feather from an angel
that dropped it to the ground.
Thank your spirit guides that shall
lead you home someday with love
and grace.
