Best Christmas Time Poems

Christmas Time

Nightgowns on at 9:01
Adrenal induced delerium
Santa’s journey has surly begun
To our beds, we were a scurrying

Closed eyes, at 9:05
But sleep would not come easy
We’d twist and turn, side to side
At least til 5 past 3

Then somewhere before, 3:44
Sleep would come, by chance
Til little sis would creep through the door
Ready to sneak a glance

Prowling the stairs, side by side
And past the grandfather clock
Which, by now, was reading 4:55
Five ticks before each tock

Around the bin and into the den
Stood our sparkling 8 foot tree
Palms were there, to catch our chins
We’d gaze til 5:03

Up the stairs, new teddy bear
Little sister, close behind
Sound asleep, to prepare
For the alarm at 6:59

Christmas Time is coming . . .

Sometimes the celebration gets totally out of hand.
Anticipation swells the air, music, music everywhere.
Lift the baton, sound the horn, strike up the band!

A country music icon, Clint Black, once sang,

“I'm looking for Christmas, a Christmas of long, long ago.
with spruce, lights and tinsel
and sled runners sliding on snow.

“I'm looking for Christmas, a long ago Christmas
of popcorn and candy, and surrounded by family
singing carols we all know.”

That song struck a chord of memory,
causing me to search in doubt for that
‘thrown away Christmas’ Clint was singing about.

Naturally, I found it;
in smiling faces, joyous greetings,
in star-bright lights
winking and blinking row upon row.

We sing of the babe in candlelight glow
and the message he brought,
an eternal message of peace and love.

Its Christmas Time In Dodge City

(To the tune of Silver Bells)

Wooden sidewalks, and the shop fronts,
Dressed in wild western style
In the jail there’s a feeling of Christmas

Cattle mooing, cowboys shooting
Riding mile after mile
And down at the Long Branch you hear

Silver spurs, silver spurs
It’s Christmas time in Dodge City
Jing-a-ling, saloon girls sing
Soon it will be Christmas day.

Mobs in street fights try to stay polite
While they bleed red and scream
As the towns folk rush home
To take cover

Hear the jaws crunch
See the kids bunch
It’s Matt Dillon’s big scene
As he catches the rustlers you’ll hear

Silver spurs, silver spurs
It’s Christmas time in Dodge City
Jing-a-ling, saloon girls sing
Soon it will be Christmas day.

Silver spurs, silver spurs
Soon it will be Christmas day.
Soon it will be Christmas day.

When we travel in the car we sing to the radio. The other night, Silver Bells came on and I sang Dodge City to make my wife laugh.

The Christmas Paradox

Merry Christmas and all that stuff and don’t forget to write,
Now if you would all be on your way I’d like a silent night.

It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed your stay, I have you must believe me,
I just wish that it were over now because your leaving would relieve me.

I’d like to say that the magic of this day would be with me until I die,
But out of respect for the holiday I feel that it would be wrong to lie.

I’ve spent the time following you around and picking up after your kids,
Putting food back in the refrigerator and closing up all of the lids.

I’ve even picked up your smelly socks after making Christmas dinner,
While you’ve all gotten fat it seems that I’ve grown that much thinner.

But when next year comes you’d better be here to visit with Santa Claus,
Don’t tell me that you’ll spend Christmas time over at your in-laws.

Because Christmas is a family time and we all should be together,
And you can tell your in-laws that you’ll be theirs on Arbor Day forever.

Premium Member To the Ones I Love At Christmas Time- Ps Dedication

To all who see the good in me
All that is lovely, sweet and fair
To all who will not see the thorns
Who nourish me with love and care

To dear ones who have loved my rhymes
Who with their words have spread the cheer
To all those who have seen and loved
This poetess consumed by fear

To all those who have cared to write
About me in their poetry
Who’ve dedicated words to me
And filled my heart with ecstasy

To all those whom my heart holds dear
Who are my sweet and precious friends
I send this message out to you
In it my love with yours now blends

This Christmas time I thank my God
That in my world you play a part
You bring me sunshine after rain
With joy you help my day to start

You must know this and thus be sure
Each one of you, I do adore
My life would not as wholesome feel
Had you not drenched its very core

You move me and you make me see
A wonder that's beyond compare
What would I do without your gifts?
I’d surely sink in dark despair

Each one of you, a sparkling light
Upon my heart’s dear Christmas tree
You light my days and shine at night
By giving of yourself to me

And so, tonight my gift to you
Is simple lines wrapped in my love
A very merry Christmas all
I plead from heaven up above

Healing and health and happiness
And wishes that your dreams come true
This place to me, my second home
And it’s because of folks like you.

Another year it's to end
As the new one quickly descends
Christmas Time is with us again
Celebrate it with family and friends

Be the best that you can be
With family and friends spend time well
Show people you love that for them you care
This's the time of the year that with love you can tell

Love God your Creator and your Saviour
Help your neighbors, the homeless, the sick and the poor
Forgive and love all your enemies,
Give hope to people that have nothing to show for

Be compassionate, caring and kind,
Respect all those people that you meet in your way
No matter what the color of their skin, religion or station,
Show them that with love, life can be sweeter any day

Don't do anything in a moment rash or stupid,
But always love and respect yourself first.
Please don't drink and drive,
Make it for you and others better, and not worst.

It's Christmas Time Again

It’s Christmas time again and I still here all alone,
waiting for you to call me on the telephone.
I know this year will be harder than the one before,
I can only hope you knew it’s you that I adore.
Your death not sudden, yet tragic to the bone.
I must move on, wipe my tears and start to atone.

The last time I saw your face I knew you wanted to hide,
you seemed so lonely dear sister, but I didn’t expect suicide.
For all the reasons you died in vain I shall remember,
I’ll never be able to forget the thirty-first of December.
It was always you who I wanted to sincerely confide,
you were mossy vines entwined turning tangled up inside.

Forgive me for not helping as well as I thought I could,
your soul so tender, gentle spirit, kindhearted and good.
When you took your last breath my heart stopped beating,
but the memory of your last tears my mind keeps repeating.
I want to learn to let go but I’m not sure if I should,
for if I did then I might forget the ground on which you stood.

Why does this hurt so bad? Shouldn’t the pain go away?
I never got to express the love I always wanted to say.
Wherever you are I pray you are happy and free,
and I beg and plead to please never forget me.
If only you could’ve held on just one more day,
we’d drink a cup of coffee and I’d convince you to stay.

Dancing with angels you are, and I am stuck here on earth,
if only you could’ve seen your true and genuine worth.
But I made a promise to you not so long ago,
that I’d try to swallow all my pain and finally let go.
I shall try to live with joy remembering all your mirth,
not to be haunted by your death, but grateful for your birth.

I Miss You Most At Christmas Time

I miss you most at Christmas time
and it's hard to know why, other than this:
with each December I feel the loss of you so keenly.

December when we first kissed,
December when we'd discuss all future Decembers together.

And fantasise of curling together on some remote sofa, vaguely aware of the tree and the twinkle of another Christmas. And brothers and board games and brisk beach walks, having long forgotten the circumstances which led us there together.

Accepted and affectionate and, oh, beautifully orchestrated.
Carols in quaint churches, and more Spanish love poems, love like topaz and love like carnations.

But the shadows were always there, they grow deeper all the time. Each fantasy, each gnawing reminiscence crumbles yearly; the Yule log burnt to ashes.

I miss you most at Christmas time,
and it's hard to know why,
other than all this.

Christmas Yule Tide Horn Haiku

what a dearth of mirth
welcome Jesus and His birth
beyond all worth on earth

saw star in the skies
by three men who had been wise
met with much surprise

much to our delight
brought star did show in the night
Jesus brought much light

waited for a while
then saw Jesus with His smile
one day was on trial

on Jesus relied
who on cross was crucified
felt sorry inside

was such a great loss
Jesus dying on the cross
we would turn and toss

we had grieved and grieved
by God His Son was received
are greatly relieved.

died and them will miss

This Time, This Place

This Time, This Place

The music of Handel swirls in my soul,
And could I but see beyond my horizon,
Beyond the limits of my heart;
Beyond the sunset of this day,
A star of proportions so immense
To shatter the state of dreamed pretense
Would fill the sky
Into the heavenly realm of shepherds
I would see them awed by the star they too see,
Hearing angels’ music with the same star inspiring me,

In this time, this place.

I hear a baby cry like no other sweetness
I have ever known.
Even the babe’s mother’s cooing reaches my eager ear.
Violins play to return the visional accompaniment.
And I know, I know, those musical blends
Can only mean

Our Savior is born in this time, this place,
On this Sunday afternoon.

A time to love*
A time to care
A time to give
A time to share

To think of the needy
To think of the poor
To think of the homeless
To think of the cure

To hug the lonely
To attend the sick
To cheer the hopeless
To cuddle the meek

The Christ is coming
The Christ is born
Our hearts we open
Our souls we adorn!
