Early morn
          Two wide-set yellow eyes
            Peek through cobalt blue
              Remnants of last night's rain
Wonderful water for all the plants and animals

Across the way
Four lovely cedars or Cyprus stand
    Like sentinels guarding the road
      Lovely silvery green shines
Washed and still wet with rain

Two mockingbirds
Sing so joyfuly one to my left
The other one to my right
I wonder what they are discussing
        Responsibilities of parenthood or politics

The clouds
  Seem to be dissipating
Or the sun has risen higher or a little of both
I am wondering if there will be more rain today or will last night's shower
Be all that we get, of course, we could use a little more

Soaking up
  The cool, damp, quiet
The small amount of the morn that I can enjoy
      Out on the porch
         Each second so precious

Close my eyes
   Listen carefully
     Perhaps I can catch
An elusive susurrus of nature to carry through the day
Filled with positive emotions, help me make it God

Fear of Goodbye

whispers carry through the silent air
and linger for moments after which spoken
I take the time to let them echo inside my ear
before they fade and their presence is broken

shallow breaths in a rhythmic type of tune
wishing for the moment to last forever
afraid that goodbye will be said too soon
breaking the bond that ties us together

locked in a gaze only to be suddenly taken
away from what was cherished between
distance widens I pray to be mistaken
from what is now being forcefully seen

fear running wild I struggle to meet your eyes
as the last whisper I hear is one of goodbye

Premium Member Once Again

Once again! I feel love in my heart.
Love's just givin' me a start.
Brings me up when I'm down.
Lifts me higher off the ground.
Sends me soaring through the air.
Runs my fingers through your hair.

Once again!

Once again!

I feel love in my heart.
Tells me you're my shining star.
Kind of brightens up my day.
Seems to be the only way.
Seems to always carry through.
Now our love is shining through.

Once again!

Once again!

Once again! I feel love in my heart.
Love's just givin' me a start.
Brings me up when I'm down.
Lifts me higher off the ground.
Sends me soaring through the air.
Runs my fingers through your hair..

Once again!
Once again!
Once again!

Autumn Mist

Like the autumn goes…so it seems
I wonder how the leaves know
When to fall and drift away
Losing a loved one, is like that
Sometimes you know it’s coming
And sometimes it’s here and gone
As the heart is the one left to grieve
Wondering where and why
it feels so empty now

Love is fleeting, love divine
So the writers say, but still I wonder
Why love has to hurt so much?
Is it because true love costs so much
But gives ever more?

Or is it because of our old wounds
That we carry through our lives
Like a trunk of old photos and
memories we never want to keep
But somehow can’t throw away

Maybe the only way to really love
Is to really love, to give away
More than just a feeling, and more than
Just a greeting card, maybe
Love is something we’re born with
But are afraid to use

When at last we find love in the losing
Rushing through a side door.
Perhaps it was waiting for us, in some
sweet and sad disguise
Or maybe it comes upon a soul
Like an autumn mist

Abandoned Hope

Melancholy shadows drift, (Repost)
Swirling, swirling in the mist,
Draw a veil across my way,
To hide the place where once we kissed,
And mask the mem'ry of desire.

Whose woods are these?
The poet quandered,
As through their deeps,
In thought he wandered,
Lost in search of hearth and fire.

So too search I, in lonely quest,
Of love, once mine, that now is lost.
In yonder wood I ken she waits,
I seek her now and damn the cost,
My heart lies on its funeral pyre.

In summer light, the wood is green,
In winter frost, its oaks stand bare,
I curse the mist that hides my path,
And carry through as leif I dare,
And know my hope a cursed liar.

Coat of Arms

COAT OF ARMS

Last night I couldn't sleep, for thinking only you...
As I wrapped in warm embrace, your spirit tinted blue
To oust away thine pangs, in hopes to see thee smile...
I'll yoke ye 'pon my shoulders, to carry through this mile

To trade your tears of sorrow, and see them shed in joy...
I'd jest for thine amusement, and be your favorite toy
For thine malady been expelled, I'd invoke it banished 'way...
Taking it 'pon mine self, so you've strength to seize th' day

Though I'm not an king, nor prince 'pon ivory steed...
Th' possessions I've procured here, are thine if felt th' need
I'll sweep thee off thy feet, if not familiar with th' waltz...
To breathe ye 'cross th' ballroom, as an feather floating 'loft

Mark mine words I state here, and hold me to their true...
I'll prove I 'steem thee precious, as unfeigned I surely do
Just promise me one thing, that next time when your down...
You'll wear these words as armor, 'til I mend thy broken crown

Give your love, then be devoted.
Give your love, don't fade away.
Take your time, then search for someone.
Make sure your love, it comes my way.
So carry through, my heart is with you.
Carry through your love with me.
Take a ship, then sail the ocean.
Take a plane, then fly the sky.
Make sure your dreams, they all come with you.
Never try to stay away..

Tonight's the night, I write this story.
Tonight's the night, I write for you.
Write of love, and fame, and glory.
Write of love, and loving you..

When we meet, we'll see the sunshine.
Come shining through, to make our day.
We'll feel the windy breeze of summer.
And when we touch, we'll feel the passion.
Grasp our lives, and touch our hearts.
Grab a hold, let love be with you.
Hold on tight, then we'll sail away..

Tonight's the night, I write this story.
Tonight's the night, I write for you.
Write of love, and fame, and glory.
Write of love, and loving you..

There should be a new tomorrow.
Let's live our lives, to see this through..

Tonight's the night, I write this story.
Tonight's the night, I write for you.....

Child Soldier

They've put a gun in his hand,
Telling him to fight for his land.
Killing people on demand,
And the pain he has to withstand.

He's only a fourteen,
He’s already haunted by the sights that he's seen,
The destruction he's caused with this mighty machine,
The fact he's made to do this to me seems obscene.

Tell me how's it right?
Tell me how's it fair?
Making a child fight for your warfare

Tell me why its easier to get guns than water?
I see that little girl digging for hours in the well, please don't tell me she is your daughter?
Bringing in the necessities whilst you go out and slaughter,
Is this really the life you wish you could've taught her?

But yet, all of you men have guns in hand,
Tell me how you get those on demand,
Whilst theres not even enough food to stop hunger in your land?
Your family dying in front of you first hand.

Yet in the eye of the beholders,
You’ve made your little boys into soldiers?

Tell me how's it right?
Tell me how's it fair?
Making a child fight for your warfare!

He's growing up with your views,
The ones telling him that he can't lose.
He's got to take these lives,
In order to survive,
His childhood robbed from underneath his eyes.

It’s gone too far now he will never recover,
The child he used to be he will never rediscover,
Although he's content now with his surrogate mother,
What happened to his real family, where is his brother?

He no longer feels like he fits in with society,
Everything he's been through its given him bad anxiety,
He replays the horrors in his head thats why he sits so silently,
How can he live a normal life after he's acted so violently.

Holding a gun became the norm,
He’s covered with blood of lives he's torn,
Haunted with visions of people he’s made mourn,
Feels life would've been better if he had never been born.

You can try and help him all you like,
But you weren't the one who was made to fight,
You don't understand what he's been thought quite,
As he doesn't see a touch of humanity in himself in sight.

He lost everything, everything he knew,
Was brainwashed into something new,
He’s got a lot on his back he has to carry through,
No where in sight where he can escape to.

My Own

As I head out into the unknown,
Scared and unable to foresee,
Love and faith will carry me through my own.

I will not stand in this fight alone.
How could this have happened to me?
As I head out into the unknown.

My scars I will eventually condone,
This battle will not end terribly,
Love and faith will carry me through my own.

My victory gratefully shown,
Strong I shall continue to be.
As I head out into the unknown.

My enemy has been overthrown,
Undefeated and brought to my knee,
Love and faith will carry through my own.

A flag has flown,
Victory, victory upon the black sea,
As I head out into the unknown,
Love and faith will carry me through my own.

Fathers Day

It’s funny there are things we should say to our dad but never do,
It may be really awkward to say something like, “Hey dad, I love you.
So I’m writing this, belated open letter to clear the slate.
To say some things to my dad, albeit a bit late.

Dad, do you remember chasing the Hewitt boy right around the block?
He did something to one of your boys and you had justice all over your clock.
I don’t remember the outcome, but the fact you stood up for us.
Says volumes about you and your protective nature rates a big plus.

I’m thinking about how hard you worked and all that you went without.
To provide for a family you loved, of that there is absolutely no doubt.
I know, Dad, you did it tough and I can’t say how grateful I am.
And I hope you are proud of me now I have grown into a man.

I wish you could be here now to see the legacy that you have left.
All the awesome grandchildren and great grandchildren, makes me feel so bereft.
Lauren, your granddaughter still has the wooden trike that you made.
She’ll pass it onto her children and build on the foundation you laid.

Dad, the other day I went to the cemetery where you are buried in the ground.
It seems silly to do that because I know you are heaven bound.
Whilst thinking about life, I feel so privileged to be a part of you.
And getting older I realise your DNA is in me through and through.

Dad, as the youngest child I’d like to think I was your prize,
But I know that’s not true, you loved us all likewise.
I pray your legacy will carry through each and every child
And that the temper you had, would get more and more mild.

Dad, the other day my kids asked what I want for fathers day,
And just like you, I don’t care for temporal things by the way.
Just a hug and a cuddle and hear, “Dad, I love you”
Is worth more than the world and I can say that is true.

As Long As...

As long as the sun shines in the morning, I will be there to wake you up with a smile
As long as there are stars in the sky, I will make the evenings yours and mine
As long as the moon brightens the night, In my heart I will hold you tight
As long as the birds sing and the flowers bloom, I will promise to bring you home.

As long as there is laughter today, There will be no tears for tomorrow
As long as the summer trees wait for the autumn leaves to fall but grow
As long as destiny permits to take nature’s love adieu
As long as time permits for me to lean on you
As long as firm shoulders are ready & with bended knees to carry through…
My love is waiting and will forever wait for YOU...I Love You.

Morning Coffee

”This morning, with her, having coffee.”.
(Johnny Cash, when asked for his description of paradise)

A coffee stain on my desk; you left it behind,
and I sojourn there, staring at it like it was a magic circle
to figure it out our destiny.
My eyes follow the curves slowly, leisurely:
round and round, circles to circles;
falling into a deep trans.

Your empty mug is like
a forgotten shell of cave paintings inside.
Tough its art was not born at the dawn of mankind,
it just saw the light on ours.
And it still keeps the mark of your lips
which previously shared a warm kiss with its edge .

Your spoon is like a strange mirror,
it shows the truth on its own way:
me, sitting there hanging from the ceiling
like a frozen teardrop;
an icicle of gods,
lingering for melting up.

The poured-out sugar is like
a white desert,
consists of diamond crystals;
it's like a secret constellation of unknown stars,
waiting for read and discover
them and their mysteries.

The tiny crumbs of your breakfast roll
are like in that fairy-tale: leftover marks
which leads to your way; calling me to follow you on your journey.
I wish I could act and go after you because I lack you,
but undergoing all I stay instead
to stand my ground and face my own demons of the day.

Your ashtray is like a phoenix's nest.
The remain of your last cigarette
still has its glowing embers,
it's like de facto hiding inside
the fragile body of that mythical bird
who is ready to be alive; to be born again.

Your empty chair, your place for me
is the only known stabile point
within the entire universe,
and it seems to turn now upside-down.
I'm like losing my own handrail;
my ability to exist without gravity.

I want to scream from the top of my lungs,
but then, I come to realize, though I’m all alone in the kitchen,
crouched hunchedly on that little chair of mine,
waiting for the moment; for you to return,
yet, from you, somehow I'm still capable
to draw strength to go on.

Because for me, you know,
you are the source of all joy and beauty;
a never-dwindling well, an unquenchable torch,
giving me the endurance; the stamina to begin
and carry through the day;
Because… you are the morning coffee on my desk.

Life's Shadows

The castle stood within the walls
to guard the river Dee,
a garrison for many years
and steeped in history.

Across the street by its arched gate
a courtyard housed some folk,
the families of soldiers there
would laugh and smile and joke.

With cobbled square and gaslights
many memories lingered on
of times gone by in distant past
when life was not such fun.

Alone at night when in this place,
and sometimes even day,
you’d see strange shadows pass you by
as they went on their way.

A graveyard stood outside the gate
where you would hear the cries
of souls that were still roaming
in the place their body lies.

I saw them clearly through the years,
I shared my home with them
and in that yard I came to know
some truths hidden from men.

The spirit is a living thing
and dies not when we lose
the flesh we carry through our life
that’s given us to use.

But mankind’s mind is fragile
and easily may be swayed,
unless he takes control of it
he’s easily dismayed.

Confusion is the enemy
that ties him to the earth
and stops his spirit rising back
to where it had its birth.

A lifetime can be wasted
or even worse than that,
you may return less able
than when you were begat.

So now you’ve got a chance at life
don’t let it slip away
for you can wait for centuries
to see another day.

The message is quite simple
there is something we must learn,
don’t let life take you prisoner
now it’s time to have your turn!

Reasoning

methodical thinking...
without blinking...
foraging ahead....
to keep from sinking...
assailing the senses...
malodorous quenching...
tumultuous thoughts...
that are heart-wrenching
lackadaisical reasoning...
nonchalant greetings...
that carry through...
with perceptive reasoning...
