Best Blue Black Poems

Blue Black Africa

the land, paradise
the people, drowsy

Blue-Black

Deeper into the blue
My indigo shines bitter and cruel
Darkly ablaze through velvet haze
Like the wilting rays of a world-weary sun

Blue, Black, Red

Blue, black and red
Shade these on me when i'll wed
As i said,
Blue, black and red

Black, red and blue
Shades that are loved by few
This is new,
Black, red and blue

Red, blue and black
Light is all that they lack
Paint my back,
Red, blue and black

The sky is blue
My hair is black
My blood is red
i love blue, black and red

Georg Trakl Translation: To the Boy Elis

To the boy Elis
by Georg Trakl
translation by Michael R. Burch

Elis, when the blackbird cries from the black forest,
it announces your downfall.
Your lips sip the rock-spring's blue coolness.

Your brow sweats blood
recalling ancient myths
and dark interpretations of birds' flight.

Yet you enter the night with soft footfalls;
the ripe purple grapes hang suspended
as you wave your arms more beautifully in the blueness.

A thornbush crackles;
where now are your moonlike eyes?
How long, oh Elis, have you been dead?

A monk dips waxed fingers
into your body's hyacinth;
Our silence is a black abyss

from which sometimes a docile animal emerges
slowly lowering its heavy lids.
A black dew drips from your temples:

the lost gold of vanished stars.

TRANSLATOR'S NOTE: I believe that in the second stanza the blood on Elis's forehead may be a reference to the apprehensive bloody sweat of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. If my interpretation is correct, Elis hears the blackbird's cries, anticipates the danger represented by a harbinger of death, but elects to continue rather than turn back. From what I have been able to gather, the color blue had a special significance for Georg Trakl: it symbolized longing and perhaps a longing for death. The colors blue, purple and black may represent a progression toward death in the poem.

Premium Member October Song

Can you hear the melody the wind breathes
into the branches brown and green and some black
Its like the familiar noise your nose makes
when you have a cold that whistling so faint

The red blue black birds sing along in formation
They are colorful dots in the sky like music notes
that breeze reads and breathes song of life into
The hills have eyes and can read music too
The grass burnt from summer still has dew and weeds

But my favorite is the dance of the leaves floating
falling to their doom to end up in piles
The red ones they are like fire dancing salsa
The brown ones do a hip hop bop
The green ones do an Irish jig
The tan ones have native American steps
The amber ones wave like fanning geisha dancing
In death all leaves turn black dancing jazz

Orange cat purrs chasing leaves
He also runs from the boisterous bulldogs song
Nature provides them a natural coat
And when it is time even the deer welcome it.

October song is a beautiful sing a long, join in.

gray clouds floating now
raping rainbows killing souls
blue birds not singing

Cloudy overcast sky today
Oh where is the sun?
I miss the rainbows and the birds darting gleefully
Even the birds are low key depressed
Not a single song sung
At least black birds can rise above the clouds
to hear an angel sing gold notes
shadowy clouds darken the mood
Who would embrace the gray day
It is not even raining gloom
Which is beautiful in its own way
Come back lemon sunshine
or come fast blue heart of mine
I know this is a part of fall
I even welcome white rain
For clouds that seem a pregnant pause
Today devoid of natures gain.

Dear Past Lover

Did you ever feel the same way I did?
You claimed to love me more than I loved you
But then why? oh why are you gone?
Was it me? Was I too clingy?
Did I rely on you too much?
Was that my flaw?
Or is there someone else
And you've just moved on
Moved on to pretend we didn't exist
Moved on to demolish the friendship we had
Moved on to obliterate my tough heart in pieces
And so I stand there looking at the pieces
And watch as you drift away
So I lie there and just sob, because I can't hate you for hating me.
When I already wish I was dead
