Premium Member Somber Is the Color of the Day

Somber is the color of the day...
Window glass distorts the view, of the dreary afternoon
Prisms of light cavorting outside, are reflected from the dew
and rainbows are splashed, from an old pewter lamp
       as if to divert me of my mood

While quietly, I sit, and ponder it all, my pen is close, my chin in hand
Pinned back, my strands, a sweater, old, is pulled around the chill
 woven in colors, of various yarns, as varied as thoughts that take me away

My mind is lost in a wakened dream
While trees are tossed about in winter wind,
               and leaves lay dead beneath the snowy mounds
                 a fire glows, and a storm now keeps me bound

One shard of light from a neighbor's home
       across the hill, a distant mile
           The dimness in a room from winter sighs...
                then something sparks a word ...a line, .. a verse, ... a lullaby ...

The day is sadder than the words I had found...
        so somber is the day that keeps me bound

I hide away this moment....a cup of tea, a Golden Lab for company..
One peek beyond the distant hill, a touch of sun
A glimpse of mountain, pastures deep, my dog that sleeps...

A momentary chance to free my soul
In just a brief, but deep departure from the ordinary...
I explore my thoughts, search my heart, wonder what this day will bring...
    I watched old memories, long kept cold, ...unfold as if a dream
      Unsort, relive, those worlds untold....
            Exploring new words, I now have found

Stumbling through my mind,  unintended
   Watching the words tumble as if unattended...
      Unfolding, exploding, and falling in chaos
             Paying no mind to the reader's conception
                   Cleansing, pleasing, as my soul fits the pieces...

                     Beneficial.... to the reader...will it matter? Who knows?...
                       But a satisfying journey traveled and found
                           by myself....and for myself, ....as the one who's creating...

     Looking out from blurry windows...a dark day continues ...
             on a somber colored day, that kept me bound.....

Intricate depiction of a being?
         That a single hand could create
         Beneficial matters can be evanescent
         When built out of yielding clay?

Molded into fiction, scales, and tails
         In terms of creative process,
         Ground and airborne entities
         Morph into unthought-of shapes.

A refined intellect creates ephemera
        Quickly under a gentle moonlight
        I'm floating in the swaying elevator
        Regarding heavenly breezes.

Hair converts into poet-trees from poetry
       Yet untamed ideas are captivated
       With the spirals and knuckles
       Brilliant sculptor's vision and decision.

lifting our minds into untamed sight
       Those who grasp this routine are lucky
       And the beholders of moonbeam dreams
       Pursue the path that moves the heart.

Premium Member Suicidal Humanity

Our supposed modern scientific genius
May in fact just be our last fatal weakness.
This technological house of cards we've made
Left humanity walking along the edge of a razor blade.

How much could you buy or sell using debit or credit
If someone or something wiped out the internet.
A computer virus, terrorists, hackers, or an E.M.P.--
Will wipe out our hard-earned wealth eventually.

Killing beneficial insects is almost like fratricide.
Think really hard again about ever using insecticide.
How many fields of vegetable plants and fruit trees
Will ever bear fruit if there are no more bees.

Rather than organically producing more living topsoil,
We're killing what remains with chemicals derived from oil.
As chemical contaminants follows their downward motions,
Choral reefs and plankton are dying in the oceans.

As a species, we've all become germ-o-phobic neurotics,
Religiously trying to kill all microbes with antibiotics.
But pharmaceutical medicine will never defeat every bug,
So one of these days there's certain to be a super plague.

So will we all starve because we cannot buy or sell,
Or because the oceans and farmlands have all gone to Hell?
Will we be extinguished by some invincible virus?
What ever it be, the fault will probably lie in us!

I wish I could offer some brilliant inspired solution,
But remember that extinction is also a part of evolution.
You may write me off as some kind of nutty alarmist,
But people that know me consider me to be an optimist.

As Usual She Did Not Take Part

I’ll never forget what’s her name
A PE teacher and ogre she became
For I was such a sickly child
it really made this ogre wild
Held in my hand a medical certificate
exempted from all things physical
with Rheumatic Fever and St Vitus’ Dance
for me to take part ~ there was no chance
Instead I assisted the Deputy Head
with clerical duties I helped him instead
But clearly this really annoyed her
As she gave me her evil stare
She appeared to be looking right through me
No words were spoken ~ was I even there

Each and every year she wrote
inside my school report
A snide remark that ended with
“as usual she did not take part”
For I was told such illnesses
Could leave me with a weakened heart
And so upon Doctor’s orders
in PE I was not to take part
I can still see her face
As she filled me with fear
No compassionate words
from her lips I could hear
Whilst illnesses kept me off school for a year

It’s time I let go of this nasty so and so
For she left planet Earth a long time ago

And my heart ~ it still beats
I’m so glad to be here
With a smile on my face
I have no one to fear

*This was sadly a true story which whilst writing this poem, brought back some of the feelings, which by her actions she made me feel – she made me feel weak and insignificant because I could not partake in any physical education classes, but I did become a very competent secretary in adulthood, so all that clerical work for the Deputy Head was clearly beneficial…some teachers have a lot to answer for...

Premium Member Tick Tock

Tick tock, tick tock, the sound of the clock
A constant reminder that time never stops
There must be something that can be done
To slow down the time, how quickly it runs
From seconds to minutes to hours then days
Calendars form an unsolvable maze

Tick tock tick tock, I'm taking stock
How much is wasted, how much is forgot
I must contribute before it's too late
Do something beneficial and not hesitate
So much can be done in so little time
But I must get moving, hands starting to climb

Tick tock tick tock, There's no roadblock
I can't slow the time by watching the clock
I twiddle my thumbs and constantly *****
Waiting for others to flip their switch
Then criticize them without lending a hand
Sleepwalking in daylight just shuffling the sand

Tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock...

Lovely Lady Jan

Sweet lady, combination of silliness and laughter,
all wrapped up in one sweet sheaf.
Amusing limericks, she is definitely a master,
so talented, watching in disbelief.

Dulcet stories about her special mum,
I hold gratitude for her beneficial feedback.
So much love held for her darling son,
convinced positive energy she'll always attract.

Sedated Hope

The age of premonition and belief in false speculations…
A firm believer of the grace now devoted to inelegance…
All it stated was an untainted fib…
Darkened fiend now restive within…

Falling by the force of an ill-defined revelation…
Swimming through cadavers of lies…
Illusive delusions cast before my perception…
All hopes are sedated by my hands…

 Sheer inanity I commit exhibiting my buoyant stance…
Imperceptible shadows ridicule a common jest…
And those divine shall affix to fantasizing…
…As the rest battle with a fettered fiend within…

Sightlessly chose to pursue the affectionate call…
Veracity being a neglected constituent…
Sedated hope – call of the day…
…As aspiration thaws endlessly to oblivion…

Hope tends to soar higher by the progress of the seconds…
Peak exists for all which tends to be limitless…
Crash the new-born hope which unites with obscurity…
 A premature plummet is beneficial to the torn essence…

A moon once elegant now darkened by the malevolent night…
Haunted by the iniquity ever so fervent…
And I run towards that which proffers solace…
Hands of murder soaked in the blackest blood…

The despaired yearning silently for another sunrise…
Darkened soul haunted by notions of a dim collapse…
Equipped with a blade ever so assertive…
The green earth now stained with blood of the fallen…

 And desires for that which lies in the other realm…
…Endlessly distant from the dream which was once breathing…
Attempting to never dream for the unattainable…
Sedated hope – call of the day…

Nothing Else To Add

"Nothing Else To Add"

Thinking clearly
I wrote this sincerely
From the one you regard dearly
Nearly
Everybody having theories
Times getting eerie
Yearly

It didn't always turn out ideally
She really
Wanted to get touchy and feely
Telling me how she could heal me
After I did some wheelies
Next she said feel free
To take her up on the deal and see
Soon she'd reveal the key

For both parties it was beneficial
And rather simple
Not no piffle

Yeah I said it
There's no need to edit
It's becoming pathetic

Far too many
Being petty
Filled with envy

Get ahead or fall behind
On the move, or soon to unwind
Saw it coming, or being blind
Struggling, or doing fine
Missing or seeing the sign
Not thinking or using your mind
Being rude or kind

Can't be sad
Had
To get after what I didn't have
No matter if I was doing bad
Sure , life can be sad
But I'm not staying mad
I got to give it a stab
If it's something I want to grab

Still glad
I don't care about any fad
There's nothing else to add

Who Will Be Then Criminal

what is seen what is felt
inner environment evolves in mind
then do to go ahead on with external

carries if beneficial
otherwise stops steps there from
self judgement of selfishness talks

sensation sparks in organs
stubborn instructions compel
to be lived with that

feedback of negative actions
if realized in advance with positively trained mind
who will be then criminal?

Sojourn

More than eleven thousand days have passed since I started this voyage.
Laughters, anguish, challenges, setbacks, achievements;
These shaped me into who I am presently
Resilient. Strong. Persistent. Empowered.
Life's roller coaster made me realize a lot of things paradoxically
That people will only be there for you as long as you are beneficial to them
That everything changes, even the so-called eternity is merely superficial.
That trying to fit into somebody else's world is a big no-no
Because you yourself has an own world waiting to be built and to ameliorate
That being quixotic is not okay- foolishly impractical-
Especially in the pursuit of your own worth as a human being and the essence of your existence
That in life, you will be surrounded by lofty individuals-
Insulting and questioning your own capabilities in haughty manners
That discouragement is an everyday thing if you will allow them to get in
I realized I should not be enervated
Overbearance, dominance, supremacy- ignore them all.
Truth is, you are the anchor of your own ship
It's you who will decide whether to be miserable or to be cheerful
Life's a maze with detours and crossroads, sometimes you get lost
You'll come across paths with invisible tracks- completely oblivious
But do not ever despair- make or choose your own path
Even at times you have to decide whether to take the road to the left or to the right
Honestly, I took the road to the left only to find out there's nothing right
I ventured out to the right track only to find out there's nothing left for me
Nevertheless, I continued traversing the unfamiliar routes- come what may.
Rest if you're tired. Stand up if you fall down. Cry if you're sad. Scream if you want to.
Listen to me, you have the sole power over your whole journey-make the most out of it.
Think about it. Do what makes you happy. Choose who makes you feel blissful.
Because life is a sojourn- a temporary stay.

Premium Member Love and Listen

The experience of being isolated from a group or activity to which one should belong or be involved in:

Alienating each other is never the answer to world's problems
Love and listen to what the other has to say even if it
Is contrary to your beliefs.
Everyone has the right to believe in what they believe in
No matter what you think is truth, their experience may tell them otherwise
Alienation is a harmful practice that comes from
Those who think they are always right; they never take an
Interest, in the wellbeing of another.
Only their opinion matters, and they are not willing to listen.
No one should feel alienated but sadly sometimes people do.

Quote: The experience of understanding a human being,
is beneficial to the world at large, and to each isolated soul.

My Past
Written: by Tom Wright

I refuse to drown in the happenings,
Of perhaps, sordid days, long spent.
For things filed "past" i cannot change,
So they lurk causing me to lament.

My past I liken to a "read only" file,
Where is stored both my days and deed.
Knowing the bothersome can't be removed,
I attempt to cover it with beneficial seed.

But no matter my depth of interment,
Or that from thoughts I've tried to ban.
Satan somehow manages to dig them up,
And stands ready with his watering can.

A Thought
If my past wasn't the teacher
From which I learned the most.
Then in life, I would consider myself failing.

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's utterly aquiver and ambivalent
With is a glimmer of modesty
His fame stems from promoting peace
But who holds the power to bedraggle?
Let's embrace bel esprit, compassion, and mercy.
There is a path betwixt utterance and ubiquity
where knowledge flows freely
In quiet sternness, it evolves...
It wraps with a meandering debate.
Behold those who wept covertly,
Who wastes these precious tears?
When some dreams come to a halt,
Life endures and perseveres.
Who moistens their life, oh you?
Who bathes, but why won't submerge?
When water drifts away and out...
The monsoon remains never fades away.
 A sacrifice can lead to martyrdom,
They have a way of shaping history
And confronts the dishonesty.
Fostering defiance and optimism,
aim for an idyllic future,
Leave a legacy.
And participate in upheaval.
What purpose does the blood serve?
Is it futile to draw that to a boil?
What's beneficial is the blood?
Is there a way to safeguard the soil?
Everyone raised a voice in reply,
Ahead of us is a fierce opponent
For the sake of the homeland,
We will shed our blood.
Premium Member Making a Real Difference
Why not make a real difference?
By mending broken down walls and fences.
Instead of defacing personal and business property.
Recognizing people and their business need the
freedom to operate them.  A healthy and productive
economy, Complete with equal employment opportunities
Is beneficial to all of our countrymen and country women.
They feel they are being surrounded by walls
of hatred, and bigotry. Black people need to
have the responsibly of freedom. By respecting
the rights and privileges of all people, tribes
and tongues. Those of us who are white.
Realize the need for social justice and equality for
Black Americans.
Why not make a difference? Each in our own words,
and each in our own ways! Locking and closing down
our country. When your voices have been heard
is counter productive! The time has come to mend,
fences, walls and bridges not to tear them down!
We are all in this together. United we stand, but
divided we fall!
Where Are All the Cowboys
Where are all the cowboys?
Where have they all gone?
Maybe they're in Texas, but they sure ain't here - yeehaw!
The type who says, howdy, ma'am.
Then they tip their hat.
Maybe they're in Arizona, I wouldn't have knowledge of that.
I saw one in a magazine just the other day.
It's beneficial he couldn't observe me, and I'll leave it there, okay?
Where are all the cowboys?
Tell me, where could they all be?
Maybe they're in Colorado, but they ain't in Tennessee.
The one's who say, you sure are pretty.
Do ya mind if I sit down?
A man gets mighty thirsty, and I'm currently in this town.
I'm not sure what else to say.
That's just how I feel.
If God don't send a cowboy soon, I might find one I can steal!
