An army of mites reside in our lashes
With mouths and tiny claws
Along the road to human evolution
This was surely a major flaw

Astronauts strangely can't burp in space
What useless dribble is that
Felines can have over one hundred kittens
Now that's one pooped out cat

Some atheists put up Christmas trees
An identity crisis for sure
A cow can poop up to four tons a year
That's sure a big batch of manure

A woman once had sixty-nine children
Talk about barefoot and pregnant
With a dirty big bunch of kiddies like that
She could hold her own beauty pageant

Nose prints are used to identify dogs
Imagine if they used those for humans
Especially during the influenza season... yuk!
There'd be snot all over the policeman

The salary of Toto in “The Wizard Of Oz”
Was a hundred twenty dollars a week
That's a hundred and twenty dollars more than me
Since retiring, my new job is sleep

The tallest people in the world are the Dutch
Must duck underneath the windmills
While kissing, most tilt their head to the right
But there's some who rub noses still

Premium Member Flowers Beneath My Feet

Flowers beneath my feet
Happy clouds above my head
Barefoot and pregnant me
By emerald emotions I’m lead

Walking into motherhood
Like a deer caught in headlights
Feeling optimistic and good
Despite first time jitters fright

Will I be enough as babe blooms
Can I do motherhood right
Baby in my blessed womb
I’m excited to give you life

I worry about the world here
That it may not be so safe
But God doesn’t give me fear
Whenever I kneel and pray

I feel your lovely little limbs
As you swim in my tummy
Looking forward to your whims
And making faces so funny

Growing you I grow with you
In spirit in every delightful way
I love you as big as the sky blue
Excited to hold you one day

As I walk in the grass so green
I look forward to your arrival
I will give you love in entirety
You are my heart legacy tribal

Premium Member A New Woman

Barefoot and pregnant,
Scrubbing pots and pans;
Supper's on the table,
I must submit to man!

No formal education,
My place is in the house;
Silent, without emotion,
So loyal to my spouse!

The laundry's neat and tidy,
The kids are off to school;
Here I go to the market,
Never will I break your rules!

Well, marmalade and poppycock,
Have I got news for you;
The 18th century's over,
I'm not your crawling fool!

Barefoot and pregnant?
It's only because I can;
If you want your supper,
Get up and lend a hand!

I have an education,
I'm free to leave the house;
Emotions conquer silence,
I'm a woman, not a mouse!

Laundry's in the hamper,
The kids are off to school;
Come go with me to the market,
Only games are played by rules!

A new girl has risen,
With force and contemplation;
Someday she'll run for president,
Make way for a brand new nation!

Being Female

When I was a little girl,
being "she", it was no fun.
Then Women's Lib came along
and my life had begun.

Although it was a struggle,
and I was a lot denied,
told that I was just a "girl",
but still I tried and tried.

When I applied to college,
was refused because female.
Now that women are equal,
it is a diff'rent tale.

"Little woman" of the house
was barefoot and pregnant.
"That's not me, I will not be!"
That was my fav'rite rant.

I avoided wedded "bliss"
and my life was never staid.
If it was those bygone days,
I would be called "Old Maid".

Rain Ii

Rain isn't pure
as it rolls over us
and rinses away
less than it leaves.

Enchanting scents little
more than reminders
of yesterday, somewhere
other than here, now.

Seascapes we strolled
barefoot and pregnant
with ideals, rivers
we cast line upon line in

suddenly drizzle on our
graying bare heads or
running off umbrellas
among the oblivious.

Barefoot

barefoot

barefoot and pregnant
she knew her place
the kitchen by day
the bedroom by night

wash and cook
care for the children
then tend to her man
to fulfill his desires

she had an opinion
that mattered not
and longed for the day
all that would change

she heard of a meeting
to have women heard
a novel idea that
had to be shared

She dressed in her best
and walked into town
she listened then acted
the world changed forever

A mother's strife

And yet I see within those eyes,
Not a beast in disguise,
But prey with unheard cries,
To it's faith it'll never know,
That whimpers and hinders,
Heady flame sunk in snow,
One that had not yet roared in anger,
One that had not yet learnt to bite,
As hard and harsh,
And filled with spite,

To darken misty air,
A growing girl,
Who sang with flair,
Who dreamed of heaven and fairies,
And neater, straighter hair.

Yet married a man so cold,
Yet strong, yet bold,
For he would hold her til he's old,
For the autumn, winter and summertime, sold
Her body beneath her clothe.

Barefoot and pregnant,
An orphaned widow by divorce,
She'd use that voice she used to sing,
To yell to cry,
but not to think,
To her children she died,
To herself she never lived,

"You live a loveless life,
You marry a loveless man,
You do your best,
And take what you can."

WOMEN

Women has long evolved
From being in the kitchen
Barefoot and pregnant and
Catering to everyone else’s
Needs except her on
Women wants more from life
Then, just giving birth and
Being a housewife and parent
When majority of the time
They’re the ones raising the kids plus
Most, work outside the home
Come home help with homework, cooking
Cleaning, washing clothes and
Also having to attend to their
Husbands are boyfriend’s constant needs
Some are physically and mentally abused
Like she doesn’t have enough
On her plate already, to some
It’s like being in prison, when
Does her duties end, when she goes
To bed but now most women
Woke-up and has finally had enough
They’re taking control of their own lives
Getting good high paying jobs
And also making better decisions

Premium Member Irony doesn’t Feed

Barefoot and pregnant
Is that what he wants us to be
Stepford Wives indignant
Waving a thousand as if it feeds

A baby takes lots of raising
Before the bond will mature
Sure they get it at 18 maybe
If they don’t starve to death from being poor

1000 dollars for a newborn oh
Is really an insult to me
Kids need love food clothes
Well before turning 18
