The Wise Men and the Roman Authorities

“Are we under them or not?” they debated,
“Do we owe them explanation?”, they demurred,
Sure of their validation of this baby, they stated,
To Herod that one day it’d be the king conferred.

They knew they were doing something wrong,
To the Christ family and Jesus life which awaited,
Making his work harder by allowing scoffing long,
Specifying him for the Romans to have him fated.

But they believed in sociology as the mechanism,
For difficulties to be worked out through,
And upheld life and society as the atheism,
Which would confront their classism rue.

So revealed to Herod the birth of the child divine,
But kept back his address and how he looked,
So Herod ordered the death of every baby fine,
In order to kill that one infant that he’d booked.

He didn’t like the intelligence of the Zoroastrians,
The magi respected by all as insightful wise men;
Jews were bypassed easily as emotional pedestrians,
But the magi comprehended rational thought, ken.

So the wise men had integrity by respecting authority,
Showed consistency in their task to specify and select;
Were the original intellectuals who had subjectivity,
To both the Israeli people and the government elect.

Covid-19

I’m perched upon my rock
Up above the full high tide.
The water as calm as I’ve ever seen it
With shades of blue and mirror reflections,
Stormy dark clouds hanging over the hills
Across from me on the far shore.

An eery silence envelopes me,
No birds chirping in the trees above,
No waves crashing into the shore,
No fishing boats upon the sea.

For a moment I feel I’m the last of mankind
In my small corner of this vast world.
As if the covid-19 has wiped out
Most humans on our planet earth....
I’m overcome with loneliness,
Wondering if perhaps there are others,
Like me.....in other corners of the world.
Others who are reaching out, searching....
Others who have stayed safe and well.

We must not ignore the World Health authorities,
We must listen to what our leaders say,
Leaders of our countries and leaders of our cities.
We must make the best of our situations.
Stay at home, wash our hands, entertain ourselves,
Only go out when necessary, and stay 2 meters apart.
We must fight this virus, as our world shuts down.
We are all in this together and we must do our part!

And then my silence is pierced by the cry of an eagle,
And the hum of a fishing vessel from around the bend.
A seagull comes swooping down across the water,
Hanging effortlessly in the ocean breeze.
I hear a swooshing sound to my left,
And see two seal heads pop up from the depths below.
My small corner of this vast world is as it should be,
I am comforted by the thought that we will overcome!
We will win the battle against this world crisis!
As we all do our part and distance ourselves.

Premium Member An Old Story

Sometimes we pray so that
The Kitchen God
Will not tell some of our mischievous acts
When back to heaven end of the year
It is not an old story
As a bribery is a comman way of life
Nowadays
To soothe the anger
To satisfy the greeds
To zip the mouths
To blind the eyes
To stuck the ears
Of the authorities
The stony hearts of mankind

Here’s what I should have done

I should have heard all the indications that the level of danger was low; no shots fired, no weapons, no anger or injuries, and no screaming, just a possible exchange of counterfeit currency.

I should have arrived on scene happy and glad that this was not a place of terror from gun shots, citizens hurt and in fear.

I should have gotten out of my vehicle ready to administer help and guidance.

I should have immediately begun to listen and realize that the level of danger was in fact low, and could simply have been maintained at this level.

I should have had this citizen sit back down on the sidewalk with his back against the wall.

I should have had two of my fellow officers one at my ten, and one at my two help watch and attend to the citizen.

I should have looked after the citizen and only used appropriate force equivalent to my deterrents if a detention was needed to ballast the citizen.

I should have asked allot more questions.

I should have recognized a human being was doing his best to comply.

I should have used compassion to resolve a minor dilemma.

I should have slowed down and remained calm, project a sense of controlled leadership.

I should have reached out a hand of security and endearment.

I should have served and protected.

Let’s create authorities
Highlight their careers
Hide in vast minorities
Live in constant fears
Some of their performances
Threaten our rights
Didn't we expect all this
To perpetuate their lies?
So let’s excuse authorities
Their fails and victories
Their top priorities
Their contradictories
Let’s excuse us commons too
Aren’t we all suspected
In the crimes we have to do
For those we elected
They keep worsening our lives
For a greater purpose
And we cannot get more wise
Although we have learnt those
Bitter lessons, but in vain
It’s a sharper’s game
One can vote, or can abstain
It turns out the same

Premium Member Authorities

Can’t get enough of power they achieve
By thorough care about our security
They want us, little people, to believe
That their business is of our responsibility
They transferred all the services to AI
They claim that travel is a privilege to earn
I’m sure it is, my sweet authorities, that’s why
I’m globally homebound at your concern
I start forgetting where exactly have I been
in recent times, apart of Spar and other market
across the road, - at home I shrunk inside my skin
My rights are swiped under the worn red carpet
AI police tracks what I write online
How cheerful is my stuff, how well it fits
To their standards, that I should consider mine
I follow rules designed by artificial wits
Come if you are a human, come to talk
Let’s be like anyone we didn’t care to know
We may discuss whatever topics, by the walk
Across the road and back, on trampled snow.
