Covid-19
I’m perched upon my rock Up above the full high tide. The water as calm as I’ve ever seen it With shades of blue and mirror reflections, Stormy dark clouds hanging over the hills Across from me on the far shore. An eery silence envelopes me, No birds chirping in the trees above, No waves crashing into the shore, No fishing boats upon the sea. For a moment I feel I’m the last of mankind In my small corner of this vast world. As if the covid-19 has wiped out Most humans on our planet earth.... I’m overcome with loneliness, Wondering if perhaps there are others, Like me.....in other corners of the world. Others who are reaching out, searching.... Others who have stayed safe and well. We must not ignore the World Health authorities, We must listen to what our leaders say, Leaders of our countries and leaders of our cities. We must make the best of our situations. Stay at home, wash our hands, entertain ourselves, Only go out when necessary, and stay 2 meters apart. We must fight this virus, as our world shuts down. We are all in this together and we must do our part! And then my silence is pierced by the cry of an eagle, And the hum of a fishing vessel from around the bend. A seagull comes swooping down across the water, Hanging effortlessly in the ocean breeze. I hear a swooshing sound to my left, And see two seal heads pop up from the depths below. My small corner of this vast world is as it should be, I am comforted by the thought that we will overcome! We will win the battle against this world crisis! As we all do our part and distance ourselves.
