Nobody knows what goes on behind this hotel door
‘Mr Smith’ isn’t with his wife of that I’m pretty sure!
He’s with his mistress Sue, they are having an affair
But he is a cheating love rat and he doesn’t really care
A barrage of fists is flying at number twenty-two
Sally covers her bruises, what else can she do
Her man is a bully and hits where nobody can see
She’s got no one to turn too otherwise she would flee
Harry is all alone since his dear wife has died
He’s desperately lonely but filled with such pride
His family only live on the other side of the city
But are so busy with their lives, isn’t that a pity
Post builds up in his letter box, there’s milk left at his door
Neighbours think they’ve seen him but they aren’t really sure
The police arrive; break down his door and Harry’s lying dead
He’d fallen down the stairs; dried blood lay round his head
Peter is an alcoholic and he suffers from depression
He has bouts of violence, he’s known for his aggression
Since his wife walked out on him he’s attempted suicide
His life has gone downhill since he lost his lovely bride
Little Sally wants to hide when she sees Phil the baby sitter
He makes her do ‘things’ with him, if she won’t he says he’ll hit her
She’s subjected to sexual abuse that no child should endure
But her parent’s are oblivious when they walk out that door
Nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors
I wonder would you divulge what happens behind yours?

In my mind this horror remains in my remembrance.
That awful, dreadful day, that man took my innocence.
I was just barely 15 yrs. old.
Not the cocky type, and I never wore provocative clothes.
What was suppose to be a quick errand to the store.
Ended up being my worse nightmare and so much more.
In this dark place, the air was stale and cold.
Helpless, defenseless, is what I felt as my naked body was exposed.
Guilt, shame, and anger are the emotions that arose.
What seemed like eternity, left the pillow soaked with tears.
Crucifixion of scars were imprinted on my heart and soul for years.
I remember getting in the shower, trying to scrub away all the pain I felt.
Hugging my pillow and praying, as I wept.
School, Family, and Friends, are the things I began to neglect.
My mother was clueless, she questioned what was making me so upset.
It was my secret, his secret, that I couldn't forget.
It was that one night, that one thing that had me trapped in regret.
After I drunk liquor repeatedly, and gave marijuana a try.
My hurt turned into depression, and I attempted suicide.
One day when skeletons in my closet were too many to hide.
Wanting to confess the dark secret I kept inside.
I had a conversation with God, and he helped me realize......
All over the world there are women just like me.
Bound by silence, and overtaken by life's tragedies.
The answer is to talk, so that others can overcome by our testamonies.
Everyday I pray that God allow all victims mind to escape.
The day they endured, I endured, physical, mental, emotional.....Rape

Waiting in line,
Before the ATM of closed banks for 60 Euros to withdraw under the scourging sun
Old and invalid people are submitted to this daily torture, constantly moaning, for Our country’s suffering and for our own devastation,
While twenty-seven percent the unemployment has climbed
Forty percent the salaries and pensions went down and twenty percent the taxes up
Rendering hundreds of thousands of families poor with no money to feed themselves And their children
When
Close to one hundred thousand of our countrymen have attempted suicide of whom Ten thousand, unfortunately, have succeeded in ending their lives only in five years Because of the ruinous austerity measures taken to pay Greece's lenders
Parthenon, is mourning Democracy's assassination in the place of its birth
By the mighty creditors that suck the blood out of our veins
The Greek government in agony has turn to our allies for help to restore our Economy and thus to prevent the catastrophe that is approaching,
But the creditors, most of them anyway, with Germany leading the way,
To obliterate Greece wish with their unbearable and inhuman terms they have set
As though were our enemies and not our partners, because
Humanity has been lost in their hearts and only for them the profit counts
And I, one of the suffering Greeks, that shares the same lot as any,
In anxiety, a few words try to arrange for the tragedy of Greece to illustrate as a New Euripides or Sophocles but to no avail,
So I am waiting in line under the scourging sun, hoping my turn to come,
The sixty Euros, if am lucky, to get into my hands before the AMT is empty!

Pain Of The Night
There is a short story of Hemingway’s
Called “A Clean Well-Lighted Place”.
An old widower in a small Spanish town
Nightly frequents a café until it closes down.
Behind his back, some of the waiters deride
Him, because the widower had attempted suicide.
One married waiter complained repeatedly,
That because of him they couldn’t ever close early.
However one older waiter had more sympathy,
Because like the old man, he had no family.
The old waiter understood that pain in the night,
Could be held back in a place that’s clean and bright.
I remember when I was single and free to roam,
And later as a soldier deployed far from home,
That old message of Ernest Hemingway’s
About needing a clean well-lighted place.
Without love and family, life seems just sleep and work.
Solitude is most oppressive sitting in the dark.
Our connection to others helps keep us alive;
Gives us meaning and a reason to survive.
So if you have nobody, and feel the pain of the night,
Surround yourself in a place that’s clean and bright.
I grew up physically abused,
with only grandma to hold on to.
I was a frail child confined,
and couldn't understand the pain I was going through.
I roamed!
In my teenage years,
I was rebellious and out of control.
Emotional scars were souvenirs,
and I felt I lost my soul!
I roamed!
Down a long dark path,
I thought my spiritual journey would end.
Listening to a demonic laugh,
I found myself in prison with no friend!
I roamed!
I cried out to God for an answer,
for the death of my grandma was too much!
Spiritual pain ate me away like cancer,
and I felt God had just lost touch!
I roamed!
Down that dark tunnel of tribulation,
I began to see a spark of light.
I continued forward with determination,
with a stronger spiritual appetite!
I roamed!
Inside behind these evil walls,
I constantly fed my hungry mind.
At times I felt so small,
but mentally I was no longer confused!
I roamed!
I was once weak and frail,
and attempted suicide with a knife.
I fought my way out of hell,
because I now valued my life!
I roamed!
My journey began so long ago,
and the strength of my heart continues on.
I survived a spiritual TKO,
emotional scars remain, but insecurities are gone!!
I still continue to roam!

A crime against man.
Committing suicide
A crime against man.
Committing suicide
Attempted suicide...
On the other hand...
Not suicide
Therefore, suicide is a criminal act and an attempt is not.
Sense can find way by understanding that man is of intellectual supremacy.
Man who attempts suicide is not committing suicide.
Meaning that no crime is committed.
Grey areas persist.
Life is an opinionated subject.
Face your own facts and serve justice accordingly so.
This is the finely lined aspect.
People often make errors in judgment(s).
That being said.
All of this...
Suicide is a crime.
But, the prosecution rests its case as justice is served through such death.
Man is of supreme intellect.
An attempt at suicide is more often a cry for help than a criminal act to the likeness of actual; completed suicide.
Smart people would, and often do, succeed in their attempt(s) of stealing their own lives—in the successful (failure) of actual suicide.
Suicide is a crime.
A murder in fact...
Attempted suicide is given exemption of law due to such intellectual rationalization.
Realizing that suicide will happen if actuated with (ir)rational intellectual reticulation.
At the end of the day we can all rest assured with this next line to be true.
Thou shalt not kill...
Including you—

Winter-2007
I lost the most precious thing,
When all of a sudden the season changed.
And then you were gone,
Gone for so very very long.
So I attempted suicide,
Longing for a free ride.
A free ride away from the pain,
That keeps coming back again and again.
Spring-2008
Spring wasn't any better,
As the season grew wetter and wetter.
Tears fell down like rain,
Showing everyone my pain.
I still saw Him every day,
As the pieces of my heart were ripped away.
And as I broke down,
His world continued to go around.
Summer-2008
I dated other guys, sure;
But in the end they did me no good.
I couldn't stop thinking of you,
Because none could love me like you.
You were the best person I ever had,
And when you left me I felt so bad.
I didn't know what to do,
And it was obvious that I couldn't stop loving you.
Fall-2008
The bitter cold wind came back,
As the leaves changed from green to black.
And as everything died around me,
My heart was not beating.
It had frozen solid way back when,
When you were no longer my man.
And as Fall fades to Winter,
My breath will be hindered.
I see you standing there with fingers gripping your Merlot
Sipping tastefully you make small talk,
But observing your facade of pleasantness I watch distant eyes travel to the sky
glistening with stars that hang low.
You seem so strong and confident in the faces of those around you
You watch most with envy as they slow dance and talk amoungst one another with
actual happiness. Unlike yourself.
You are cold inside but fear to yell out throught the noise, to voice your hurt would
be attempted suicide in your mind.
Though you cannot hide it from my eyes
I have seen it flash one to many times through your face.
You need to reach out and let go,
though you won't because it's weakness to you
it shows hurt
and you are to tough to be hurt or inflicted by words..
I feel like I'm at the end of my rope,
And I can't find any hope.
I have some deep depression,
And carry lots of repression.
Sometimes all I have to show,
Is my confidence that is low.
A couple of times I've attempted suicide,
I failed and my brain I probably fried.
I'm glad I did not succeed,
For me that would have been greed.
I will forever live with this,
But it doesn't hurt to wish.
The depression I try to fight,
It takes all my might.
There are days I have woke up feeling whole,
And feeling good in my soul.
But my life I can really make hard,
Especially when I don't trust and put up my guard.
Everyone wonders why,
But please believe I really do try.
I wonder what every day will bring,
And on good days my heart will sing.
Today is a confusing day,
So in my room I will stay.
I am but a living matter, with no much giving wonder
I’ve seen my birth twice, all after an attempted suicide thrice
I still weed and weave, that is, think and compose
Yet I am still but willed to be still.
Ignition in my struggle have seen my daring heart through
I still and possibly, will write with no much height
In me I see the silent child-like Emily Dickson, still doing my fiction
Still, creating, hoping, losing and breaking my skeletal friction
I know rejuvenation shall get me there
Where the hearts grill with cheer.
I’ve crawled to the lands Far East, then Far West
To the North and South Pole
In my interactive intractable mind of imagination
Yet to lose but to give I’ve captured the silent mourning
Of many unable, disabled, able-less people
I’ve coined the immaculate wealth and health
Of many reliable very able people
And still to be real, I am but still.

Just the young thoughts of the young mind
I've tried to forget those times,
Those times I attempted suicide.
I hated my life and I was depressed, ya know...
My depression was bad and I just wanted to be alone.
I acted my way through life,
Went out with a smile and said I was “fine” and “alright.”
Even though I knew it was all a lie.
Not just to them, but to myself,
I thought after a while I’d believe it, well....
I had no positive energy flow,
What I had gone through, no one would know.
No where near the whole story, I wouldn't dare,
Why pour your heart out to those who don’t care?
I've tried to forget those times,
Those times I attempted suicide.
I hated my life and I was depressed, ya know...
My depression was bad and I just wanted to be alone.
What questions did I ask to get where I am?
I live in a new world that I cant understand.
No matter how hard I try, there's something inside,
That's blocking my mind... from comprehension.
I've had to be strong all my life for everyone else,
I never had the time to be anything for my self.
Here I am twenty-three,
I don’t even know who I am, my identity.
I must start anew, relearn my life differently,
Be happier and find who I am... just maybe...
Suicide by any other name
Thought I had finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel.
I should have known, it was not the end, but merely a sharp turn
Each step I take feels like a walk through wet cement
Breathing is shallow, labored, fragile, and it KNOWS
The SHADOW of who I once was, a lifetime ago
Always just out of reach, just out of sight
Constantly there to confront me with the
Mind numbing reality of what my life has become!
RUN, I shout into the emptiness;
and then I "Grock" just how absurd it all is.
Run, I can hardly move!
If I were not nearly paralyzed with fear
I could have laughed in its face
My Dopamine depleted brain forsakes the activities of a "normal' functional adult
Immobile, inactive, imprisoned, I stand silent and incoherent
In a desperate and impulsive effort to dispel the nightmare,
To put it to rest, to extinguish the light, to be finished!
I awake in a fog, people are talking, I hear but cannot see.
I am disembodied, neither here nor there
Back to oblivion, back to sleep, to rest, to dream.
When I once again awake, I am informed of my attempted suicide!
In the end, it matters not whether you win or lose
but how we play the game
But when the game seems fixed
and the results are always the same,
Suicide by any other name.
My mind is filled with thoughts I don't need
My eyes fill with tears while my heart bleeds
As a teenager they wanted me to be sectioned and monitored
With all of this on my mind, is it any wonder I have Insomnia?
Tired all day, But as soon as my head hits the pillow I Lie awake
Anxiety builds my thoughts up, So I fantasize about being able to hibernate
A new fear for me to overcome, another obstacle for me to annihilate
But I need a rest, I wish I could fly away
I'm trying to remain calm in the drama
But I walk in the way of harm with no armour
I've got new scars on top of old ones that never finished bleeding
I hear voices, even though I'm in a room on my own, with no one speaking
I miss my ex, so my head forces me to think about who she's laying with
Is he making her happy? Or is she faking it?
I pushed her away, but she got over me quicker
Isn't it funny how when you taste your own medicine, you get sicker?
Depression has a hold of me and tells me I'm worthless
I've attempted suicide in the past, do I deserve this?
Am I a coward because I crumbled and fell a few times?
Do I need to repair my heart or do I need a new mind?
I need a hug, but there's no one I can tell
Lying in bed wide awake, I feel the need to yell
Been tired all day, and I'm in bed now
But thanks to Insomnia, the last thing I'll be doing is getting my head down
My mind is filled with thoughts I don't need
My eyes fill with tears while my heart bleeds
As a teenager they wanted me to be sectioned and monitored
With all of this on my mind, is it any wonder I have Insomnia?
The last time I saw you
Was on the night of Halloween.
You were happy and smiling,
Until your boyfriend messaged you.
A ding went off in the room and all five heads turned towards you,
so you picked up your phone.
With a hand over your mouth and tears forming in your eyes,
we knew it couldn't be good.
We consoled you, telling you you deserved better.
He wasn't anything but a no-good boy,
who played with people's hearts.
So when we told him to meet us, he did.
It was seven minutes past ten when his car pulled up,
and we confronted him.
You took him back, Gabi. Why?
It wasn't until 1:28 that we realised that instead of drowning in your tears,
you were drowning your thoughts
with bottles of whiskey and shots.
It wasn't until 1:28 that we realised that your stumbling meant you
were definiately not okay.
So when the call came on December 1st that you attempted suicide,
it broke my heart.
Your sister found you dangling from the ceiling,
and as she was struggling with her own demons,
you tried to stop yours.
The doctors flew you to the hospital.
Gabi, you died three times within those 15 minutes.
Once they revived you, you were stable.
Your smile didn't falter when visitors came.
You pretended it was the same as before.
You were a loaded gun with one bullet,
playing Russian Rullet with the noose.
It only took you one try until the trigger was pulled.
On the third of December, as I was decorating the Christmas tree
I left my phone in my bedroom.
At 10:52 I recieved a message with only 2 words.
"She's gone."
