Sue dated an old bloke called Darren
He said surgery'd made him barren
But one errant sperm
Escaped from his ‘worm’
Now Sue’s had a baby named Sharon!

05~24~17

WRITTEN BY JAN ALLISON

For his sins he surely will pay
Strong little swimmer went astray
There's tears in his eyes
No nights with the guys
And Susan turned out to be gay!

05~25~17

WRITTEN BY TIM SMITH

Darren went to the doc to get snipped
The doctor was drunk and he slipped
He was seeing double
And that spelled trouble
Poor Darren got his wiener clipped.

05~24~17

WRITTEN BY JAMES ANDERSEN

Darren wasn't really a talker;
He spent all his time in a rocker.
"But don't worry, Dear,"
He'd said without fear,
Knowing that his sperm used a walker.

05~24~17

WRITTEN BY DALE GREGORY COZART

Darren told Jane the same story
She gave birth to a son named Rory
He thinks he's slick
he's really a prick
And deserves his own category!

05~25~17

WRITTEN BY DANIEL TURNER

Sue told Darren she was on the pill
But she managed to get pregnant still
It would have been better
If he "wrote" a french letter
Now they have a baby boy named Bill!

05~25~17

WRITTEN BY JOSEPH MAY

Young Rick peed on a stick.
The result made him feel sick.
His emotions went wild.
How could he be with child.
Impregnated by his own seed.

05~25~17

WRITTEN BY RICHARD LAMOUREUX

So Darren was over the hill
Said Susie'd no need for the pill
One old guy
One old lie
Easily told for the thrill!

05~25~17

WRITTEN BY LIM'RIK FLATS

Jan that's not what I find
I disagree if you don't mind
Over sixty they droop
When I take a look
His number if you would be so kind?

WRITTEN BY JEAN MURRAY

Poor Darren developed a cough
Sue put him to bed in a trough
While discussing his manhood.
Sue said, this is no good
I'd feel safer if you had it off.

Premium Member Lili Marlene

Lili Marlene

In times of war, love can subdue cynical adversaries
(Men separated from their vocation, now filled with hatred)
And quell the beast inside their misdirected hearts,
And free their consciences, to allow sorrows’ comfort.

A noisy silence pervades the barracks’ atmosphere,
Where soldiers stir, stuffing duffel bags and miscellaneous,
While others reminisce, writing letters; maybe their last.
And await further orders for Western and Eastern Fronts, or Africa.

From Belgrade, a woman’s voice over the airwaves is transmitted,
Allowing a moment of silence and reflection for those listening
Alone; spiritually uplifted in memories of better times,
Who seek a reason to justify this madness of sacrifice.

“My Dearest Marlene,” the pen begins when all hell breaks out.
By bomb flashes bright bloody hands write, then the pen stops;
“Until we meet again underneath the corner light,
Like we used to do, my Lili Marlene.”
                                     ***

Note:
   'Lili Marlene' is a German love poem set to music by Norbert Schultze (1911-2002) in 1938 based on the poem 'The Song of a Young Soldier On Watch. written by Hans Leip (1893-1963) in 1915 during World War I. The song was first recorded by Lala Andersen (1905-1972) in 1939 under the title 'The Girl Under the Lamps”' which became popular during World War II (1939-1945) among the Axis and Allied troops. The song was first broadcasted by the German Radio Belgrade station throughout Europe and North Africa, following the Nazi occupation of Belgrade in 1941.
   Marlene Dietrich (1901–1992) was the daughter of a Prussian officer. She refused to work in Nazi Germany, and was branded a traitor by Nazi supporters when she became an American citizen in 1937. She made over 500 performances entertaining Allied troops from 1943 to 1946. Marlene Dietrich recorded the song in 1944 under the Decca Records (US) and Brunswick Records (UK), which was later released in 1945.

“Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom,
and a little flower”.
– Hans Christian Andersen

A little flower in the garden
not very large, or tall, or bright.
For this, she seeks pardon.
God graces her with His light.

His sun shining in the skies
attracts the little flower’s head
and soon her face and eyes
behold the sunshine’s thread.

It fills her with a freedom
like she’s never known before.
She awakens simply to need Him
and He, she comes to adore.

Her little face fills with happiness
shining prettily pink and red.
He colors her with tenderness;
she stands proudly without dread.

Life is living and loving all things
without need to feel outside.
Accepting the gifts He brings
makes living a jubilant joyride.

“Grief is just love with no place to go”
                                                   quote from: Jaime Andersen

                                         The Ashes
                                       A pewter urn

                                Softly a candle glows,
                           I can feel your gentle touch,
                  Through the darkness, your eyes smiling.
                        For a moment, you are beside me,
                Yearning for one more day of your embraces.
                                           ~~~
               “Grief”, I’ve heard, “Is love with no place to go”
                          It leaves a deep hollow in the heart;
                           Sacred now, are the memories
                             That soften the ache of loss.
                                 Reeling, lost in images,
                                 Quiet nights of dreams,
                                      Until the dawn,
                                      Casts her light
                                            On life
                                            Death
Where the Heart Is
“…you must give this voice to me.”
    ~ Hans Christian Andersen, “The Little Mermaid” (1836)
It’s never true immigration
You’re in the homeland you carry inside
This landscape isn’t so foreign
Over it you seem to gracefully glide
Everyone here is so awkward
They’ll never fathom the pain that you hide
Even as you long to tell them
That tongue you left behind sure can’t confide
How the witch of immigration
Left no false hopes with you and never lied
How the fine prince who you rescued
Though he may feel your love, and though you’ve tried
To let him know what he owes you
How he’ll praise what’s the least effort beside
With his eyes for his own people
Your telling eyes say with whom he’d abide
For there’s no true immigration
As the sea bore you, in tears you’d have died
If their salt water had let you
Drying in air they take you for a ride
For they can speak your own language
That of the kind heart you carry inside
   ~ Thanks Always Returns
The Colder the Winter the Warmer the Spring
The colder the winter the warmer the spring,
Where from nature’s palette life’s colors are drawn—
Though mute I must be in my heart still I sing,
For the darker the night the brighter the dawn.
The deeper the sorrow the greater the joy,
As shadows and sunlight play alternately—
No doubt or despair can this longing destroy
For my wild swan brothers soon to be free.
When misunderstanding and envy abound,
When devilish obstacles threaten me,
I must tap an inner resource profound—
For the wise will rejoice and the foolish flee.
The fiercer the tempest the sweeter the calm
That will promise a splendid rainbow to bring—
Though muffled in silence may all hear my psalm—
The colder the winter the warmer the spring.
Premium Member Freezing Point
The river flowing tumble of snow
jackets the buildings and the road
on the last twilight of 1998.
As the sky is slowly draped by darkness and coolness,
there I am on the coldest loneliest walk of my life.
All around, I can see some dancing colored lights.
The houses spells the happy shadows of families.
Some sharing a meal.
Some laughing out loud near their Christmas tree.
Some on the middle of a party.
Christmas carols flying free on mid-air like:
"...But heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul..."
With only a coat, long thick black hair kissed by snow
and some old worn socks to warm me,
I traverse the street--
finding, finding a place I can call home.
About six days ago... I was also with my parents,
so happy, though we only share some bread and cheese
plus porridge that Christmas day.
Me and my parents hugged every night
allowing me to stand the icy nights of December
under the roof of our wooden worn-out home.
My parents though they can't read nor write,
they diligently work day by day for our needs specially mine.
I wasn't given any gift nor we can't everyday eat some meat.
However, my days with them are filled with fun-loving memories.
Not until...
a monstrous fire eat voraciously
our home and three other houses nearby.
My father though old with arthritis
carried me fast as he can to a safe place
and so my mother but ---
father ran back to the house
to save some of our things but unfortunately...
The roof of our home fell.
The fire so ferocious swallowed everything including my father.
My mom and I dealt with this pit of tragedy as one
but later I saw my mother slowly, slowly crumbling down.
She more than me is slowly falling down faster.
Her lamp of hope blown out.
And not long, past six on the same day my mother died.
Hence as the surrounding gets cold
so is the the life of me gradually reaching the freezing point.
To Our Hearts' Content
The moment I saw you I knew
That the love of my life was you.
Through the pain and fire of earthly desire,
We have proven to be true.
Let us love to our hearts’ content,
Now that we have heaven’s consent.
May the sun and moon their blessings give,
While in happiness we live.
Let the birds of paradise sing
And the golden church bells ring.
May each turtledove and star above
Herald an eternal spring.
Like an ever-quenching pond,
We have formed a lasting bond
From life to life, as husband and wife—
So tender, so dear, so fond.
Let us love to our hearts’ content,
Through the times that are turbulent.
Together may we stand, still hand in hand,
With devotion never spent.
Let us love to our hearts’ content,
Till we know what the poets meant.
May the words ‘to cherish’ never perish
And love be benevolent.
A Christmas Tale
A CHRISTMAS TALE
Out in the cold, chained to a tree,
The old dog watched as the sad little girl approached.
Meeting, loving, the poor things cuddled close,
Sharing their animal heat on that cold Christmas night.
A passing stranger and his wife halted in their journey home,
Taken by the sight of the ugly old dog leaning trustfully,
As the small barefoot girl slowly, carefully freed it from its chain.
"You're my Christmas baby now," they heard her whisper.
The man said, "Surely the dog must be abandoned," and
The wife said, "That child has been thrown away, too."
Both asked in unison, "What can we do?" In unison they replied,
"Let's take them home and adopt them both."
