Premium Member Food Inglorious Food

Be it known as convenience food, junk food or munchies;
whether spicy, melt-in-your-mouth soft, or crunchy,
food, inglorious food, seduces with ease
and ensnares with the emptiest of calories.

Disguised as a comfort food comes macaroni
with creamy Alfredo and kin, Fettucini,
To not be outdone, spaghetti entices
with large fattening meatballs and sauce rich in spices.

“Deep fried” knows our weakness for fat, which gives pleasure
and saturates fast foods, it seems, in great measure:
KFC (finger-licking), batter-fried fishes
and chicken fried steaks -high cholesterol dishes.

Even fruits will attack with enjoyment unhealthy
as tarts, pies or pastries. That apple is stealthy!
Veggies can also be treacherous things
in guise of corn fritters and gold onion rings.

Too much of a good thing is pizza (so cunning,
so meaty, so cheesy), which no one is shunning.
The taco, burrito, and big burger too
in great numbers descend on us. What can we do?

Those delectable luscious desserts that we eat
have only to sit there; we cannot retreat!
Candies and chocolate, our decadent sin,
sweetly defeat us. We simply give in.

Ice cream, a smooth foe, knows when we are blue.
On a cone or a spoon, it drips, waiting for you.
As a milkshake, a frosty, a sundae or float,
or between split bananas, it sure floats MY boat!

Buttered popcorn is one salty foe, and we love it!
The hot dog implores in our mouths that we shove it.
Baked bread, so alluring, entraps with its scent,
which wafts through the air as if heaven sent!

The standards of junk food -America’s pride -
crisp bacon and nachos, chips and foods fried,
invade our malls’ food courts and lurk high and low.
Their smells overwhelm us wherever we go!

We might try but we can’t make our junk food desist.
for only the health nuts can dare to resist.
In the war with inglorious food I adore,
I say, Bring it on! Here’s my plate; I want more.

Premium Member Beyond a Trill

Along resplendent lanes in groves of green
In sundown’s mellow tinge aglow, we cruise
To grasp unto moon’s fingers so serene,

Where we are charmed by lovebirds that amuse
  Who hum a rhapsody with lilting beats;
Through gentle drones that seem to render blues

Like first theme song we wish breaths could repeat--
Should we but fix past warmth beyond the sands
The way a glossy mist embraces heat.

A constant vow that ever understands
Our mild and fragrant chiming of daybreak,
As spirits abide on Aurora's hands.

When birds flutter a trill, then ignite
This dulcet paradise we leave to night!

Premium Member Whipped Topping Grin

The opposition calls like intuition,
from down the halls to the master's kitchen.

Her knees are rocking cheddar cheese blocks,
and when she walks you hear Pop Rocks.

Her eyes are made of ribeye steaks.
Her lips are whipped cream topped chocolate cakes.

Her cheeks are stuffing with a gravy blush.
Her neck is a lamb chop, long and lush.

Her chest is dressed with fried chicken strips.
Her hips swivel with potato chips.

Her legs, saturated in maple bacon.
Her stomach, a malt drink, freshly shaken.

Her arms are sausage kabobs, super-sized.
Her ears are cream cookies, finely disguised.

Her hair boasts alfredo soaked spaghetti strands.
She holds a loaded potato with open hands.

She knows your struggles and echoes your taste,
never minding the size of your waist.

You want to break free and finally be thin,
but she follows you sweetly with that whipped topping grin.

The Will To Win

The will to win will ebb and flow throughout our lifetime.

Where the will to win settles is determined by the purity of the heart and mind.

The will to win can be compelling, stout, and awesome as a redwood tree.

The will to win can be insignificant and unimpressive. The size of the will to win is individually controlled by you and me.

The will to win can move with grace, dignity, and magnificent fortitude.

The will to win can be noticeably clumsy and overbearingly rude.

The true, respectful, and heartfelt will to win may bend, but always refuses to break.

The will to win may crumble from the least bit of negativity, losing all progress it has made.

So, let each of us make a vow that will be etched in stone for the duration of time.

Our will to win must never falter or descend. Our will to win must always radiate, by being nothing short of sublime.

Premium Member Dining Out

Tonight my wife proclaimed, "My dear, we are dining out!"
I said, "Fine! How about steak and taters or rainbow trout?"
"No" she insisted, "I want an exotic Italian dish!"
Alas, I lost another tete-a-tete spousal skirmish!

We arrived at Luigi's or some such place,
And were seated cozily by the glowing fireplace!
We proceeded to order our favorite wine,
And to that point everything was going fine!

The server presented the menu to me.
I needed an interpreter I could readily see.
The longer the bill of fare that I perused,
The more I became addled and confused!

Fettuccine Alfredo, Portobello Gratine, Tortelloni;
Spezzato Cacciatore, Rigatoni Alla Carpinelli;
Linguine Bagutta, Cattaloni Penne Alla Taratina;
Tortelloni All Primavera, Scaloppini and Picata!

My head was spinning but hardly from the wine.
As I tried to figure out upon what I'd like to dine!
I summoned the waiter and said, "If you please,
I'll have a buffaloburger with onions, pickles and cheese!"

Your Nasty Words

The nasty words you spoke in private toward a specific group of people rightfully were made
public and revealed what you truly harbor in your heart.

I'm a proud and intelligent member of the ethnic group your nasty words attempted to debase.
Look in your mirror and ask, when, where, and how did my bigotry make its unfortunate ugly start?

More importantly, have you ever asked yourself why you disrespect certain ethnic groups for no proven
reason, and adore other groups simply because of the color of skin?

Your nasty words vividly reflect a soul that's empty, a mind engrossed in ignorance, and a vision
myopic at best. What a pitiful state of existence you live in.

It's actually sad that in your mind, you truly believe your nasty words are justified, giving you a false sense
of extreme power over the subservient "them."

What your nasty words have truly done is dull the magnificent glow in your heart you were born
with, and displace it to a state of existence, way too far south of being dime.

Your nasty-words-state-of-mind is crippling you mentally and physically in ways you're not even
astute enough to be aware of. Ignorance will not allow you to.

Without heartfelt change, you'll never experience the wonderful embracing of all worthy
humankind. Tolerance and understanding for others not like you, are attributes foreign to you.

So, continue along your path of misguided tunnel vision. You should openly and with vigor recruit others that
think exactly as you do. What a despicable union of bigots you will all make.

Then, for the betterment of humankind, unlike Noah and the Ark, your vile group should congregate in distasteful
harmony, then immediately take a non-returnable ship to distant outer space.

So, I'M Bald

I started losing my hair years ago.

At first, I panicked. Finally I said to myself, I’m going bald, “so!”

I once tried remedies, herbs, and such.

Unfortunately, my hair didn’t grow back very much.

I knew many women preferred men with long hair so they could run their fingers through.

And because of being bald, I didn’t want to end up being a turn-off to you.

Then, fortunately, I came to grips with what’s important in life and what’s not.

So, I’m bald, so what! Beautiful lady, would you care to rub my bald spot?

I’m otherwise fit, intelligent, sincere, humorous, romantic, handsome, and strong.

My hair is just no longer long.

Lady, if you need to run your fingers through anything of true importance, try my heart!

That’s really the ideal and only meaningful place for true love to start.

Premium Member Bratwurst and Beer

ACH! Don't tell me you've never been to an Oktoberfest!
Folks, that's food, drink and entertainment at its best!
Men in lederhosen, frauleins in dirndls, all so full of cheer,
Enjoyin' tasty bratwursts and steins of Hofbrau Beer!

Jamaicans enjoy Red Stripe Beer with red beans and rice.
They like their pristine beaches and they are very nice,
But for simple pleasure and taste buds that you'll endear,
There ain't nothin' like washin' down a bratwurst with a beer!

Friends in Italy enjoy the view of Vesuvius sippin' a Poretti,
Fortified with plates of fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti.
But I can't visualize anything just a whole lot sweeter,
Than a simple bratwurst washed down with suds by the liter!

Scots socialize with their clan at the neighborhood pub,
Drinkin' pints of Innis and Gunn, eatin' haggis for their grub.
French sip Trois Monts dinin' on delicious escargot.
Japanese slurp their noodle soup with a brew called Sapporo.

Mexicans gulp Salitos Beer to quench the tamale's spicy tang.
Folks in Indonesia quaff Bintang Bir with their nasi goreng.
Of assorted foreign beers and their fancy fare I've had my fill;
I'm content to sip a Coors and broil bratwurts on my grille!

Creamy Alfredo With Chicken and Spinach

Chilled Pinot Grigio and Chianti
on each side of the long table,
twenty seats for twenty guests;
Antipasto with zesty dressing...
colorful vegetables with chunks
of sharp provolone and hard salami...
to be served with crunchy bread,
the kind that grandmother used to bake.

Oh, wait the Creamy Alfredo with chicken and spinach
is steaming on a huge serving plate...what a work of art!
Oh, the aroma of the Parmesan cheese
fills the nostrils with the urge to start;
one by one, the well-dressed guests walk
into the dining room...who said they are guests?

It's family: grandpa, grandma, uncles, aunts and cousins!
we'll surely enjoy this Sunday dinner as last week.
What about dessert? Sweet pastries and chocolate Tiramisu
with a strong cup of espresso and a shot of Sanbuca Romana;
would you like to join us and meet the friendly chef Mario?
There's plenty of food for everyone...Buon Appetito!

Feeling Much Better Fast

I hear that you have been a bit under the weather, not feeling as well as you’d like.

No doubt, your illness took the most inopportune time to strike.

Here’s hoping your illness totally and permanently disappears real fast.

The handwriting is on the wall, soon you’ll be feeling much better and back to your regular tasks.

All the energy and professionalism you possess will again take center stage.

Hopefully, these few words will help with your recovery in some small way.

They are written to help speed up the process of you feeling much better fast.

Periodically refer to the words of this poem, so you feeling much better will hover and last.

Life throws us uninvited curves at times, ones sometimes tough for us to avoid. They
steadfastly block our progressive path.

Thank goodness we, as human beings, find ways to circumvent and heal. Happy to hear,
you’re feeling much better fast.

At Peace With You

My day can be like a tidal wave, forcing itself through.

But when I come home, I can always be at peace with you.

There is war in our streets almost every day.

We’re deeply affected by war in foreign lands far away.

Sometimes I reflect and wonder what this whole world is coming to.

That’s exactly why I cherish every moment of every day that I can come
home and be at peace with you.

Premium Member Stuffed Pasta Treat

Tortellini stuffed with cheese and spinach
Divine when coated with Alfredo cheese sauce
But not with some kind of beefy gravy finish

When those shells are cooked just tender
Light and delicate easily cut with a simple fork
Coated with Alfredo I completely surrender

Sometimes when stuffed with three cheeses
Topped with Marinara of such beautiful color
My eyes, tongue, and tastebuds it pleases

It is even better when the family visits
And on that day I have stuffed Tortellini
Stuffed pastas that really have their merits

Silent Screams

SILENT SCREAMS

Alone away from it all ,somewhere I wanted to think
To be alone and find myself,
The owls hoot,the cricket chirped,
The howl of the wind outside my Cabin made my heart skip a beat.
I sat there quiet like a lamb reading a book and eating my Alfredo,
I couldn't help but look outside because I felt as if someone was out there,
Maybe I was paranoid to the sounds of the night,
Because I lived in the City far away from here,
I was not accustom,at least not a place like this.

After My dad died I wanted to go away for awhile,
To deal with the pain and to move on with my life.
I didn't want to be alone out here,
But I needed it,Just for a few days.
I knew my boyfriend was coming to see me in two days,
I was reassured and felt safe knowing that.

All I could recall was hearing the door opened with a bang and glass shattered
everywhere.
Someone was in my cabin and grabbed me by my hair.
I saw two figures in front of me, as I screamed in fear and shouted
"What do you want from me?"
The tearing of my clothes made me scream inside,
I tried to run ,But they held me down, tying my arms together and gagging my mouth.

I lost my soul when I felt them inside me ,
I felt pain inflicted on my body ,
Tears streamed down as they both had their way .
Raping me over and over again.
They hit me with a metal bar on my head,
Because I was tried to resist.

That night as I lay naked in my blood, feeling my life was over,
They looked at me with evil in there eyes and said,
"A pretty thing like you shouldn't be here alone at nights?"
I tried to scream but I couldn't ,
The Trauma led me into a temporary shock,
I heard a gun shoot, piercing through the night,
The sounds of the wild wolves echoed throughout aware of the sound,
I looked at my chest and saw blood gushing out and I knew this was the end.
The end of this life,a horrible infliction and there was nothing I could do,
I was helpless,I was gone.
