Premium Member Anniversary In Poetry

It's like the same ordinary day,
When pen and thoughts unite.
Muse and views haunt my mind.
This is a day I celebrate and write.

One year of expressing love,
One year of creating rhymes.
One year of friendship on line.
Counting more happiness to find.

November last year when I took a path,
towards serenity and blissful life.
The only site cradled me in storm.
Oh Poetrysoup ,my finest home.

Remembering the sweet comments one by one.
Numerous name came in and out then say goodbye.
But the memories remain here inside my heart.
And keep visiting pages of my dear ones.

A year of struggles and defeat,
A year I love to celebrate.
Thank you for the opportunities.
I learn to write and express my self.

Happy 1st Anniversary in Poetrysoup ...

I Love You More

the three legged dog scrounging trash cans for a meal in Allentown,
befriends the blind girl with her ragged doll, on her face a permanent frown.

the mother in need of dangerous drugs, to make it through another day,
sells her wasting body to those who seek, these desperate souls who’ve lost their way.

soup kitchens filled with greasy men, who walk the unforgiving streets,
their dreams lay shattered, their clothes all tattered, at night roll up in dirty sheets.

the rich man rolls down the darkened window, of his long black limousine,
and tosses quarters on the ground, and laughs at such a frantic scene,

of children scrambling, fighting, biting, to get their measly share,
to buy some candy at the grocery store, as puzzled people look and stare.

as nightfall comes, the trucks roll in to wash the city streets,
but cannot wash away the sadness here, that every day repeats.

the organ grinder with his monkey spots the blind girl in the park,
and puts a dollar in her hand, as the oriole whistles in the dark.

the mother following close behind, extends her hand, asking for more,
he hands another five, she thanks him, walks away and looks to score,

another bag of crack cocaine, as the little girl starts to cry,
“where is my little dog she asks”, the mother asks her why,

“I want my doggie, it’s my friend, and it loves me the best”,
her mother falls upon her knees, and holds her closely to her chest.

“no darling, it’s me that loves you, loves you so much more”,
together they run hand in hand, as the rain begins to pour.

now in rehab she proudly claims “three years today and I’m still clean”,
happy together now at home, mother, daughter, and the dog they named Aileen’

Comin Clean With Jesus

comin’ clean with “jesus”

ever see the footage of Aileen
“comin’ clean with “jesus?”
when she was rambling about
being “under the devil” &
passing through all the statistics
dealing with how rare a possibility
it would have been for her to
get off death row?

do you think you’ll ever see one
of these catholic molesters/rapists
of little kids,
“come clean,” whether it be for their
fictional character called
“jesus,” or whether they might just be
honest for once in their lives?

easier to condemn a woman who had been
raped by her own grandfather,
easier to condemn a woman whose life had
been a train wreck of horror &
let the upstanding, “holy” men of the cloth,
continue to walk the earth.

Aileen

AILEEN
Aileen, my dearest darling wife
Nigh 50 years bar a month.
Half a century she filled with love.
Aileen, wife and a loving caring mum.
Her face a smile, a shining sun!
The pain she suffered in her later years
Caused one and all to shed many tears
Her failing heart was her secret
Not revealed till it was too late
She shouted Mick and with arms held wide
Stood up, fell, and sadly died.
To all who tried to bring Aileen back
In endeavors, you did not lack.
The family thank you for doing your best
Aileen suffers no more and now lays at rest.
With broken hearts, we will say goodbye
Perhaps the world will hear us cry
Tears of sadness, tears of love
For Aileen, mother, grand and great,
Daughter, sister, aunty, and a wife,
Never ever to be forgotten Aileen, my life...

The weeping, sobbing never done,
Our kids will always miss their mum
I write with tears flowing down my cheeks
Every morning my hurting peaks
No longer will I hear her hear call my name
Mick, Mick I'm in pain.
It broke my heart then, again and again.
Now my heart is broken beyond repair
And I know for you all your heartfelt despair
Aileen, mum, Nana, sister, daughter, aunt, in-law, wife, and friend.
Her spirit will be with us all,
Even now she is at my side as these words I write.
If my tears were words, they would fill a library
No, not 'a' library, everyone in the world!
All our tears, our hearts unfurled, oceans of emotion.
Her love for us all, her heartfelt devotion,
Never to be forgotten, Aileen!

Fickle Fall

FICKLE FALL

August fades, as September slams it to the ground.
Temperatures drop, Fall, as Summer, fickle weather.
Leaves not ready, still green, looking very sound.

Winds, storm Aileen, laying hedges, not clever!
Rain in torrents, flooding towns, and farmers pastures!
Temperatures drop, Fall, as Summer, fickle weather.

Wind-felled trees, majestic splendour, Falls gestures.
September, two-thirds done, yet most leave's holding on.
Rain in torrents, flooding towns, and farmers pastures!

Still waiting for the red, orange, gold, Falls swansong
Odd leaves now beginning to show colour, flattering!
September two-thirds done yet most leaves holding on.

Hedgehogs now in hibernation, silent no more chattering.
Squirrels busy gathering acorns digging holes and burying.
Odd leaves now beginning to show colour, flattering!

Winter had a wicked peak, for some a warning, worrying!
August fades, as September slams it to the ground!
Squirrels busy gathering acorns, digging holes, burying.
Leaves not ready, still green, looking very sound.

Premium Member God Wants To Save Us All

For God Did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world
but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17

In this season of penance
When we focus on our sins
It’s important to remember that the gospel is a Good News

It’s the news that God loves us
Calls us always to be closer
When I hear sermons
Homilies focusing on people’s shortcomings or flaws

I find myself wondering how many people listening actually
Spend most of their time logging themselves for their failings.
We’ve all heard reprimanding preachers
Found it hard to believe that we’re worthy of being saved

This passage reminds us that God wants to save us all
When I reflect on salvation
I don’t think so much being saved as of being saved
I think that God sent His Son into the world

To apply a salved to our aching consciences
Flagging hearts to heal us
So take hope
God did not send His Son into the world to condemn us

Premium Member Aileen Wuornos and Joel Rifkin

Aileen Wuornos was a prostitute who murdered her johns.
Joel Rifkin would murder prostitutes whom he came upon.
If Aileen Wuornos were propositioned by Joel Rifkin,
I wonder which one of those murderers would end up the victim,
but then again, maybe they would have killed each other in the end.
