Cyrano de Bergerac
entered a race
not fleet of foot
but hoping to place
tho' quick off the mark
the competition so tough
kept him on his toes
when the going got rough
yet setting the pace
he won by a nose...
the schnozz on his face

"Hercule and the Broken Birds de Bergerac"
lute wherefore art thou?
soft stroked like chords of velvet
wrapped around thee thou be art always
in the bursting rose red heart
underneath the covers of silent charades
the music of romance is the loot
magnetic magick that pulls in deep
each and every lovelorn Hercule hypnotique ...
Hercule Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac
bee stung by Love's insensibilities
written into the pollinating
of each burning stigma
dripping honey off the seductive beaks
of the broken birds de Bergerac

Serenity enters upon her hem
Toting attentions like needful puppies
Eager to submit every breath
Ponce' bathes in her fountain
Halcyon depths purifying his soul
Isolated pristine - Qing porcelain
Simmering sensuality produces
Admired luster of a Kashmir sapphire
Genuflected I yearn to become
Obsequious of all necessities and
Desires of her bestowed repertoire
Delving into her aura coaxing
Effervescent essence pour over mine
Songstress serenade inner de Bergerac
Siren silently saturate mine self

as our eyes met
as our eyes met
a thunderous spark
detonated in my heart
a sudden tsunami
of years of ancient history
in some telepathic wave
taking my breath away
i understood in an instant
it had all been a charade
how things really happened
the day we met
IT WAS HE
who noticed me across the room
and elbowed his buddy
who haphazardly reacted to the nudge
by flashing his big bright smile my way
and it just so happened our eyes locked
changing history
yes IT WAS HE
who was going through a rough patch
encouraged his friend to pursue me
and offer me a ride home
that’s how i fell for the clown
but today years later
his eyes betrayed him revealing
IT WAS HE
who had been in love with me all along
and here i'd been duped
ironically a victim to my very own version
of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac love triangle
dazed i stood in staggering awe
of what could have been

Oh Cyrano, dear Cyrano
Monsieur, de Bergerac
Your nose was big, yes really big
Immense, “la tabernac”
You stuck it in, a love affair
And wrote, Roxanne some prose
She fell for it, to the extent
That then, she Christian chose
All those years, you pined for her
And wrote Christian, some more
But in the end, it wasn’t him
But the letters, she’d adore
So you were left, without her love
As if, it was to be
And it’s your prose, which did you in
How stupid, could you be
Before Roxanne, realized you lied
A log, did hit your head
You sadly came, to your demise
And your love, remained unsaid
And so, the moral of your story
Now, comes sadly to its close
Remember to be careful
Where you stick, your big fat nose

This Regency Dandy flying across the river,
Jumping Jack Flash of kingfisher blue that
I was lucky t see, this dainty dandy of English rivers and streams.
A compact colourful apparition my sore eyes waited some
Sixty years to see, others boast much earlier visitations of these
Bluish-green, orange and red feathers attached to a Cyrano De Bergerac
rapier beak,
Outshining the honking harrying flotillas of Canada geese not capable of
Competing with this fisher of minnows, as we strolled across the Georgian
Bridge at Blatherwycke straddling the nonchalant flowing Nene of this
shire of shires,
Now of only one squire, but still many fine spires in this shire of Northampton.
