Time of change, years ago
Since then life's bittersweet
Cold seeped into my life force
This engendered great remorse.
History coloured many days
Odd wondrous moments enjoyed
Benjamin Disraeli kissed my hand
His charm I managed to withstand.
Was presented at Russian court
Dressed in white my favour's sort
More than a few felt tempted to bite
Kept my fangs well out of sight.
My likeness painted by Vermeer
Gossamer veil so very sheer
Such dedication to his art
Sadness felt when we did part.
Bonaparte, Corsican upstart
Eventually exiled to Elba
Dined on him, his blood so thin
Clear to me he would not win.
Music was constant delight
Dinner with Mozart, one dark night
He was oblivious to fond farewell
Decided to look up Raphael
Life of change, one wish denied
Should love to turn back time
Not possible - it's torture for me
So many people would disagree.

Title change from Nomad to Vampire
Time does indeed really fly. It seems only yesterday I had fun with this write.
For you there was new epoch
beyond the synagogue
when in religious solemnity
you converted to Christianity.
You wanted to support
King and the Church
but you were also open
for political change.
Your trophy was not only
in your political philosophy
equal with propaganda
and your satires
on profligate oligarchy,
sectarianism, collusion,
of the Ministers
and their illustrious illusion.
One Nation.
8 social class groups;
63 million people;
50,000 millionaires; and
100,000 homeless.
One Nation.
One Nation.
Two parliaments; two assemblies
6 mainstream parties;
650 MPs; (27 ethnic minorities MPs); but
35% of the population never voted.

14 million children; 25,000 schools
7% of pupils are in private school;
31% of MPs attended private school; but
3.5 million kids are still in poverty
One Nation.

134 Prisons
90,000 Prisoners
145,000 Police officers; but
1,000 deaths in police custody without one conviction.
One Britain;
One Nation?

Note: The political idea of One Nation in British politics was coined by Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881) and used by countless politicians since, to refer the duty owed by the 'better off' to help those less well endowed and fortunate. That irrespective of class, Britian should not be two nations of rich and the poor, but rather one, united society.
