A polar bear unexpectedly washed up
on a beach of sun-soaked sand, blinking at palm trees
like they were part of some cosmic prank.
He tried to build a snow fort out of coconuts and optimism,
but everything kept melting~
except his dignity.
Soon he learned to waddle in flip-flops,
sip pineapple juice through a straw, and fan himself with a leaf
the size of his entire head.
He decided, with a shrug, that life is mostly about adapting~
even if you’re a creature of snow
learning to love the warm, ridiculous world.
The heavy clouds of gray begin to loom;
to hide the fading sunlight from mine eyes.
The garden we once planted loses bloom;
as bitter winds bear off our hollow sighs.
The gentle petals tear away from stems;
and scatter through the chill of winter's air,
They used to shine like brilliant crimson gems;
when thou didst hold me close and call me fair.
A sudden gust of wind begins to blow;
sweeping away love and warmth now closes.
My weeping eyes reflect the afterglow;
caught within this painful storm of roses.
Yet though our fragile bonds are rent apart.
Thy ghost shall dwell forever in my heart.
You and I contain all the rest of our names,
Love once crosses mid-earth and tames.
Regardless of irrevocable fact and deed,
It ended in finding that love is the seed.
We comforted each other's wounds,
A thing opened destroys after it excludes.
As lips quiver and tongue swells goodbye,
Shaking in terror, after intense loving one day.
Our minds warn us to yield on past feats,
As the cold wind blows, so acts our conceit.
Before wrecking our love's car on sandstone,
No mystic wind can bear off our millstone.
Then we both grinned and expel,
Allowing all these efforts to fail.
I hear the ocean calling me to fill my sails for I have lingered too long at sea,
There is the island I dream of, where my love awaits for life calls to me to quicken my pace,
As I fight back the winds that have kept me from the warmth of your cove I will fear no red sky,
you are the beacon that guides me, that leads me for I yearn to anchor my heart on the shores of your soul,
I would chafe the sands of time until I've reached your berth,
I will bear off on longer but beat back the wind as I hunger for your touch,
you are the fortune I seek and I will tack from dusk till dawn to reach the shores of your love once again.
in the chill of an iceberg,out on the sea
bright in it's gleaming
a herd of old walrus asleep in the breeze
peacefully dreaming
a company of penguins dance on her slopes
there on the ocean
slippin' and slidin' like a bar of wet soap
with a rockinghorse motion
just then a polar bear,off on a tear-
his sudden intrusion
abruptly the world of the penguins is hurled
into utter confusion
their situation increasingly grave
by the menacing stranger
taking no chances they make for the waves
escaping the danger
aseagull is circling high up above
chanting his mantra
singing as ever so higher he flies
shepherding clouds in a wide open sky
and i capture it all with a critical eye-
for i am a camera!
