Oh, falling leaves- like my autumn of life-
you slowly drift down upon faded green lawns.
Red-orange-gold colors boast your last hurrah,
as they calmly, peacefully, twirl to the ground.

They're gone. Now, this painful reality rules.
I kneel here forlorn, bereft, in front of you-
one hand on the dark mahogany veneer
of your everlasting, lifeless resting place-

Stars adorn our dark evening skies
and twinkle brightly within our sight, *
to let us know we are not alone
in this vast and unending universe.

I stand here now- my winter days are here.
Though firm, I stay- I ponder the next stage-
for winter's fickle; when she leaves- unclear.
But, until then, with life, I will engage.

A walk, in solitude, is sometimes best
to weigh my thoughts in nature's open-air
and put my heart and soul to needed rest
where only I, with quiet beauty, share.

Sweet twilight time you contrast dawn-
she starts the day, you prelude night;
within your charm, our thoughts are drawn-
reflected in your calm delight.

All things have a beginning and an end
with birth and death. The fate of tiny fleas,
to vast, unfathomed galaxies- portend
there are no steady-state eternities.

There comes that certain turning point
we know our end of road is near.
But at that end, there is a bridge,
we cross to Heaven without fear.

I attend to my garden each day-
though a tedious task, it is true.
With the seeds of ambition, I pray
it will flourish for me and for you.

In mausoleum, home of rest-
the afterlife on earth,
our souls will watch from heaven's nest-

A gift bringing a love until unknown.
A miracle this gift we do believe.
A gift we will keep when even grown.
A gift of a child we did conceive.

You are my azure sky-
and I, your silver sea.
We merge at our horizon
in dawn's pale saffron light.
Late afternoon,
my violet waves shimmer
beneath your crimson sky.
And at Eventide,
your bright coral glow
warms my deep emerald sea.
In the dark of night,
your strong, deep jet hues
meet my quivering magnolia waves,
stirred by the bright moonbeams
that reflect and dance
with their song of love.
At last, my sea
gently ripples at the horizon's line,
cradled by your embracing sky,
as I drift into sweet carnation dreams-
until the dawning sun
once again wakes our horizon
to a majestic and brand-new day.
You are my azure sky-
and I, your silver sea.
