Every solution
has a backfield motion
the night sky is a erstwhile copy
Minstrels came a dancing
love is a past ideal
the bells honour the hour
yet the first candle will not bloom
whose breathe creaks to life
swearing blindly by the gallant windows
from Hanover to Boston we roam

Dads old trousers and his disco shirt
packed tight with yesterdays news.
A mask for a face and a pram for his car.
He is sat outside the local shops
penny for the guy Mr. is our shout.
treacle toffee smashed with a hammer.
A toffee apple and a trip to the dentist's chair.
A hot dog with all the extras.
A trip to the bonfire on the backfield.
Me and my dad lighting a Catherine wheel .
Rockets light up the heavens
and the faces of those who watch.
The only bad thing about bonfire night.
Is that Guy Fawkes failed to blow them Politian's up.

MOORSIDE MEMORIES
The years pass by but the memories are the same now as just then,
from racing down the ski slope on perspex to stoning the buses,
these were mental teenage days of mischief.
local pubs provided a welcome release form the speed of life,
getting pissed and going playing our music loud, unending song.
friends came and went like water under the bridge, some I miss, some I hate.
now the backfield, once a green area is now full of houses, no more
beer fuelled bonfires there, the 80s are gone, not forgotten.
Now a new life at the other side of town, months turn into years,
people are left behind, it can’t be 1986 forever, yet I’ll never let it go,
a basis for right now.

In the Eagles backfield, he could gain a lot of ground.
Not many players as talented were ever found.
He led a formidable offensive attack.
Speed and agility were the qualities of this running back.
I just learned recently his soul is heaven bound.
RIP Steve Van Buren

It takes a big, strong guy to play on defense.
However, you need more than brawn. You need intelligence.
You can’t let that offense run wild on game day.
Make them use their three downs, and they have to punt away.
As a defensive lineman, your sights are on the quarterback.
Penetrate that backfield, and throw him for a loss with a sack.
That gives your own offense the chance to win the game.
Play at all-star caliber, and you can make yourself a name.
