Premium MemberJack O’Lantern Rides

            one hemisphere lit
         of split
personality;
Jack O’Lantern rides,
spurring the midnight stallion.
Ichabod’s head spins ‘round,
             fear comes forth furiously,
           without time
         to catch his breath.
a clean cut,
detached from reality.
              eyes spinning
            within Crane’s inner space;
          a pumpkin smash.
was this his nemesis
or the devil himself?
               was Katrina worth this,
             his head laid upon
           the woodpile’s lap?
a dream perhaps?
another Van Winkle written off?
                furrows on forehead,
              pulp pulsing, scored;
            twenty years or so forth.
generations hear of the headless wanderer
only the lovelorn venture off
                 (and Brom Bones ascendants)
               descending into dreams, delusions
or the stampede of midnight hoofs.
Katrina lit a candle in the window
She’ll never be a widow; just blind

Premium MemberContemplating Sunflowers after Death

Sunflowers like smiling balloons,
round and robust, sounds
of the stem bobbing like a string
tied not to the past but to the soons.

Lost before noon, the duct
let out one final tear. Now
she is nearer to God than me.
Like a sheepdog, I guard my Dad.

Sunflowers, weaved into a frame,
deluded in happiness while we pass.
Petals pull at the heart, switching
moods between Winter and Spring.

His tears fill up palm lake, pulsing
of his broken heart. All delusions
fall off the cliff. Reality of life
without her, within.

Sunflowers’ dark brown centers,
the grief stricken eyes, tarred
and feathered. Childlike questions,
those eyes open wide…

So pretty purple urn; claustrophobic
words can’t contain the expression
of who she is-was. Ashes in eyes and
hearts of contemporary ascendants.

Sunflowers’ reflections, so alive,
slowly dying. We watch ourselves
fading. The funeral parading
before us, bypassing us.

Moonlight

Embracing close climbing Rose
A silver suitor to propose
 Marriage in the moonlight.

Rose now wears his sparkling ring
Gazing, enchanted, beautiful bling –
 Diamonds of moonbeams.

Stars of night – groomsmen ascendants
Primrose, Jasmine – attendants
 Bouquets of moonflowers.

Invitations, the first dance,
Cake of moonpies, per chance,
 Auntie Luna’s moonshine?

Evening wedding seems the plan –
Garden nuptials close at hand –
 Vows caressed by moonglow.

Last Breath

Vivid hallucinations of a world gone good
tripping over the stepping stones of where i once stood
virtue and morals exist no more
to be female your marked as a whore
diving head first into a lake of last breath
was it a hell of a life
or a step closer to death
confused ascendants refuse to admit
your like you are because of them
hanging from strands of so-called sanity
repititious pressures of ego and vanity
innocence lost amongst pure irony
its a shame intelligence doesnt come with a warranty
obligated religion teaches to pray
while at the same time denying a race
helpless remorse at the door of death
why not apologize before your last breath
how does it feel to be covered by lies
you spent your whole life in shadowy disguise
just accept what you are, where you've been
maybe next life you wont do it again
you attend churches to seek common piety
is it real truth or only society?
