The 50th Anniversary of Jack Benny's Death

He brought laughter and he was important to many.
He died 50 years ago and his name was Jack Benny.
Mel Blanc appeared quite often on Jack's show.
At the age of eighty, it was Benny's time to go.
If Jack had died one day earlier, he would've died on Christmas Day.
He was a very talented individual who died half a century ago today.
Jack was an actor and it's an actor's job to pretend.
He went into a coma before he died and it was sad because it was the end.

[Dedicated to Jack Benny (1894-1974) who died fifty years ago today on December 26, 1974]

Premium MemberAnniversary Wishes

Fifty years of wedded bliss
started out with just one kiss
true love always finds a way
no matter what we do or say
with times of laughter and some tears
with family and friends throughout the years
who knew time would run so fast
so many memories created from the past
in you two lifelong friends we find
if only years we could rewind
we are blessed to celebrate with you this day
wishing you many more to come your way.

Golden Jubilee - May 4th

See us.
Two hearts as one.
Still laughing through the rains;
Fifty-years growing together.
Je t'aime.

A senior colleague of mine
Noted for his grand wedding anniversary parties
Never forgot to invite me and my wife.
Ideal husband, the 50th he had made
Very special one for us to remember.
Elegantly dressed, he and his wife
Radiated charisma under the arc light.
Smiling happily he presented her a rose and
A diamond ring, the second one.
Rolling her eyes my wife looked at me, urging
Years later I needed to do the same.

Love Is

Who's to say
 how the meanderings of time play?
A moment in our youth yearns
 for an endless love to burn.
Unexpected and without a plan
 blends the hearts of a woman and a man;
a distant glance
 a high school dance
arms and bodies entwined
 feed the harmony of soul and mind;
some casual encounter unannounced
 draw two close to the love pronounced;
a courting short and sweet
 combine the two in body heat
and children birthed and hugged
 find life empowered in love;
with years long gone and now forgotten
 the memories are real, worn and well into autumn
with winter holding on the rise
 and love is alive in each other's eyes;
looking back there is no question
 for the two bound by a love that's destined;
five decades have come and passed
 blessed are the years that hurried fast,
nothing lost and everything gained
 the seasons fade like summer rain
but love is ever the same
 reflected and undaunted forever claimed;
no tears, no regrets for all of hers and his
 enough to say - love is.

Fifty Years of Memories

FIFTY YEARS OF MEMORIES

Fifty years of memories! And now, as you look back,
And through the simple life you lived, you never had a lack.
You served the Lord so eagerly with every passing day
Through passing tracts or on a bus to bring some kids our way.
You never wanted praise or fame for any loving deed,
You knew the favor of the Lord was all you really need.
And so, today, though some health fails and time has taken toll,
You wouldn’t trade one day of all the blessings to your soul.
For over half your married life, you’ve been a special friend
To our church and my wife and I that God to us did send.
So, as you celebrate this day when God there made you one,
I pray you’ll find His presence dear as you look to His Son.
I pray His comfort you will feel in many special ways,
For I’m aware how difficult it’s been for you these days.
Your faith will see you through the days you still have here below,
No matter what may happen next, you’re in His care, you know.
Yes, fifty years of memories! Just treasure every day
Continue loving, serving God like you have all the way!

Dedicated to a couple at church for their 50th anniversary. The husband is now in heaven.

Premium MemberA Toast

It was their 50th wedding anniversary
A truly memorable milepost
when, near the end of the evening,
the husband stood up to deliver a toast…

I was recently asked when was the first time I fell in love with my wife, he began
and I have to admit…that’s difficult to say…
the answer’s not as simple as you might expect
as there are many first times…every day

The first time I see her in the morning,
The first time she utters my name
The first time I see her smile
I always feel the same.

I don’t understand how it happens
but from the first time that we met
and every first time after
It’s a feeling I’ll never forget.

The first time we touch, the first kiss of the day
The first time she looks into my eyes
The first time she speaks, the first time she sings
The first time she laughs…or she cries.

Love is a magical feeling
It is subjective and difficult to explain
but I feel it every first time I see her
In my heart,
In my soul
In my brain.

I’m sure I loved her from the first time we met…he said raising his glass
by the way my legs went numb
so here’s to that very first time
and all the first times to come

Premium MemberMcgee Pleads the 50th

The boys were sitting all around the table with McGee
As he took to task to pour the glass of every man he'd see

"It's my anniversary" he would boast and say it loud
"50 years of married bliss" He shouted to the crowd

Remembering his first one he lean toward good Ole' Finn
"A trip to Hawaii, was the gift I gave her then"

Finn said "After 50 years what gift could she now lack ?"
McGee just smiled and softy said," I think I'll bring her back"

On April 7th we had a small wedding
It was a life with you I was getting

50 years ago you became my wife
I said I do for the rest of my life

In all our years I never cried
I do it now since you died

 At night is the loneliness
All the time is the emptiness

I wanted to get a new engagement ring for you
Maybe even repeat the words, I do

The guilt I felt because of no goodbye
At the same time I also wanted to die

I loved you so many years of my life
I will always love you as my wife

I’m still finding things hard to do
These were easy things for you

Until again it’s you and me
