On My 50th Marriage Anniversary
The party is on, firecrackers ignited,
Bottles of bubbly beverages opened,
Friendly touches exchanged
As customs prevail in a society.
An anniversary to remind us of mortality,
New resolutions made, new pages turned,
It is not about enjoyment, relief or celebration,
I think as it is about optimism,
To create joy out of nothingness,
To create hope for better times in future.
It is intoxicating wine for the soul,
To look at the balance sheet of life.
