On My 50th Marriage Anniversary

The party is on, firecrackers ignited, Bottles of bubbly beverages opened, Friendly touches exchanged As customs prevail in a society. An anniversary to remind us of mortality, New resolutions made, new pages turned, It is not about enjoyment, relief or celebration, I think as it is about optimism, To create joy out of nothingness, To create hope for better times in future. It is intoxicating wine for the soul, To look at the balance sheet of life.

Dr. Ram I enjoyed this poem about your 50th wedding anniversary. Congratulations! I liked the idea of it being about optimism ...not just a customary event in our society. My husband and I celebrated our 43rd year of marriage this year and look forward to our 50th, God willing. Thank you for your comment about my poem ," The Execution of Timothy McVeigh." I am a brand new poet and I was so excited that you even read my poem! Annie Cook /Ruth Meyer
