Surveillance Capitalism

The algorithms are at work today
Gathering information of what you do or say
Google and Facebook work away
Gathering data about you in every way

If you jay walk or use your phone in the car
A photo of you will be taken from afar
And before you go home tonight
A fine will be emailed to you when the match is right

So Alexia at home will talk to you
Putting on your lights and music too
And she will know you like no other
More about you than your own mother

And think about Orwell’s 1984 novel
Has come with Artificial Intelligence gavel
When a government through the information gathering
May consider re-education centres for mind altering.

Did I Mention

Did I mention that I love you?

That the touch of your skin is pure ecstasy,
Lips of nectar, but full of intensity,
Now I’m addicted, your alexia of love consumes me infectiously,
Independence is over, now a relationship made of sweet serenity,
A perfect combination, encased forever, our lover’s legacy,
A life together forever or until death do, we part,
The day my heart beat stops,
Or time seizes and not another clock will tic toc,
Until that day my love for you is yours to command,
To have and to hold, forever hand in hand.

My Selfie With Words

My selfie with words
By alexia brinsley

How do We capture a moment when the flash doesn’t work, and ideals can't be cropped in a frame?

When filters just “hurt", the "enhance" won't flirt, and the tag doesn't yet have a name?

Why do we share more than what we want to see?
Do we know someone we’ll never touch?

Do we ever switch off, uncharge, just be...
Flip the view,
Hold your breath,
Retouch.

Keeping the world at an arms length shot, leaves life little room in-between.

The squinting smiles like a virtual virus not an inch of our life unseen.

Battery bleeds as the screen fades slow,
the panic starts cold setting in.

For how can you live in the frame of your phone when light on the screen is too dim.

One Year Later

It was one year ago today when four innocent people were shot.
The killer thought if he killed the witnesses he'd get away with it but he did not.
Two of those unfortunate people died but the other two survived.
They would've all perished if the Paramedics hadn't quickly arrived.
It's terrifying to even think about what happened in that drug store.
Because of a very evil man, two nice people aren't alive anymore.
Somebody told my friend that she should move because of that man's brutal attack.
But she and I are not going to leave our hometown because of that deranged maniac.
Jason Bryan Holt is the murderer and he has a town full of haters.
The town of Bean Station is still saddened and in shock one year later.

Minnis Downhome Pharmacy Part Iii

Minnis Downhome Pharmacy has reopened its doors.
They're not afraid because of the tragedy that happened before.
When those four innocent people were shot, it was a damn shame.
I'm glad they've reopened but without Stephen as the pharmacist, it won't be the same.
Stephen's widow has reopened the pharmacy to continue her husband's dream and I don't blame her.
The deranged maniac who shot Stephen and the others will most likely get the gas chamber.
Minnis charged my mom less than forty dollars for her Risperdal.
Walgreens asked four hundred for the same medicine and Mom was appalled.
Minnis cares more about people than profit, that's why some of their meds are cheaper.
People are getting their meds there again because that pharmacy is a keeper.

Minnis Downhome Pharmacy Part Ii

I have great news about the two women who were shot.
I was afraid that Alexia and Janet would die but they did not.
They're out of the hospital and are recovering at their homes.
Many people are in their corners, they are not alone.
It's great to know that they have so many friends.
I'm very thankful that their lives didn't end.

Minnis Downhome Pharmacy

Four shootings took place just five minutes after I left Minnis Downhome Pharmacy.
If I had been there for another five minutes, one of the victims would've been me.
Two of the victims were killed and two are still alive.
I hope and pray that those two ladies survive.

Jason Bryan Holt was the one who caused the devastation.
He was apprehended before he could even leave Bean Station.
This proves that the world is lost because the killer was a former cop.
It's very sad and tragic that these senseless shootings couldn't be stopped.

He shot them after stealing a lot of Oxycontin.
These shootings were both terrifying and rotten.
These poor people are in my prayers.
I hope that the killer gets the chair.

In Spite of Miling Frustration

IN SPITE OF MILING FRUSTRATION

Let not the miles and mile
Downs and frustrates
Our longings and hoarse feelings
As distance is another promise
To remain steadfastly true.

Frustration is wishful distraught alkaline
Keeping us to be alive
Through artificial life sustaining button
Hindrance is an insulin
To be posted from time to time.

If not of the indispensability
Living apart is a dare
Traversing from place to place
Our memories enlivening
As muteness and alexia demise.

Of fruitful vows
To contain and cure loneliness
Communicating is stalling
Homesickness
Drying the tears subside somewhere!
