Ms Calico, who comes to me
only on her terms~ obstinately not
at my beck-and-call. Ms Calico
arrives demanding her tuna, fresh from
the can...purrs like an angel
dreaming, her glossy coat licked
proper and gleaming.
No, is never my option when tending
to her needs, myself feeling quite under review
when performing orderly deeds; seen her torture
mice and birds appearing for no other reason
than sadistic fun, affectless leaving their limp
carcasses when her gross pastime done – though,
next to my own, there is no more caring a mother,
nearly died protecting her kittens, my fondest
the runt I named Mittens.
I have found with dogs it is all about
love...and with cats it is more awe and
respect. I became frantic when she
went missing 3 days, my heart
was an abysmal wreck.

How we long to speak and yet we’re dumb
Fearing we shall sound like ignorant fools
Waiting for our first communion
When will we feel safe, not quiet nor numb?
Alexithmyic,affectless,how cruel
How we long to speak, why are we dumb?
How we odd ones value every crumb
How we want to learn , to use our tools
Waiting for our first communion
By the weight of politics undone
This was never taught in any school
How we long to speak, why are we dumb?
Economic miracle,. God’s come!
No log like this was ever made for Yule
Nor for our own first communion
Stay away from Logic and George Boole
Poetic life needs metaphors not rules
How we long to speak, why are we dumb
Struggling for the lost communion

Petals: pristine~pure desire float
lullabies roam aspheric space
touches reached just out of scope
Brave: gravity glides on outspread wings
with the willow weeping sullenly low
blanket in balance a presence bestows
Tight: comfort held in passion's show
lightening a starless~sterile sky
sacred secrets whispered overnight
Dawn: feelings warmed on nature's bed
dew drops glisten upon peril's view
rhythmic swirls arise affectless anew
