Follow me,it's this way Alice
Through the woods to the white Queens Palace
On the way we'll stop for tea
to visit old friends you'll be glad to see
Then you'll rest up so as to feal cocky
before you face the Jabberwocky
Some days you'll grow and some you'll shrink
Some days your chained to the kitchen sink
The twins are waiting as is the Hatter
You'll witness the transformation of matter
A worm will appear and dissolve in a poof
First at your side then on a roof
And when this journey nears it's close
Another fearful sight has arose
You'll defeat the red queen without backin
dispatching her champion when you slay the Kracken
Come hurry now,We're running late
For this your auspicious tryst with fate

Everyone hates me eventually,
so why don’t you do it now
Saving us time, uncoupling the rhyme
—your anger my presence endows

You can’t stop the marching hordes
They’ve got you on the run
You think you can stop the clock
But your time’s already done
History proclaims itself
Is what the poets say
You’re going to cause a lot of pain
Until you see that way
You’re already looking at me
From your prison cell
Even now you’re wondering
Just how the hell you fell
How could it have happened
When God was on your side
All your friends were asking
On the day you died
Ain’t it funny just how fast
Someone can be forgot
They all denied they knew you
Before your corpse began to rot
Because time is a chamber
With many an open door
One need only be patient
We’ve seen your end before

A gift or obligation,
the Poet signed his name
A promise wrapped in silence,
decision masked by pain
One choice among the many,
within salvation lies
The victors lay unspoiled
—with truth to live or die

The ultimate fight
Death match supreme
The truth within sight
Pulling no punches
The ink bleeding free
The wound beyond mortal
A Fait Accompli

Today I watched a video
Set to music
It was faithless stuff
Reminding me
Of the creatures in virtual reality
Trying to discern how to navigate
Through their maze of
Confused white lights
And misdirection
Upheld by a puff of air
With only the vaguest notion
Of some reward to strive for --
And I realize how the
Signals the maze gave off threw you
And led you down exactly the path
Upon which you meandered
Lost and alone.
Still you tried glancing back once or twice
Lingering with hope for salvation
But eventually you stopped
Looking back
(Salts sting)
Resolved
You forged ahead
And the labyrinth that had been built
Frustrating at each turn
Tripped you up a few more times
Until you finally
Found your way out.
It wasn't easy to
Let you go
Without so much as a whimper
Bearing witness to
This experiment
Staying put
Soundless
This void overwhelming
Even though the whole time
I was screaming "no!"
If only silently
In my own mind...
And of course you couldn't read my mind
And of course it didn't go our way
And off course
And off --
And on yet we go.
