desires and fears are merely objects appearing in the sphere of our awareness, no different from a bird flying past our window. we are free as long as we do not cling to any object. yearning to entwine with God or let us say, the universe is ending separation, dispelling ignorance, freeing us from delusion that we are this limited, transient entity called identity. Then we become, as Jesus affirmed, ‘my Father and I are one’.
