Your Very First Car
Remember your very first car?
The freedom, the unlimited joy?
You felt like an adult, not a girl or boy!
It took minutes to get anywhere.
The library, the cool movies, the scented pizza place?
But you saw such sad eyes on your bicycle’s face!
How thrilling to rev that car motor, eh?
What people or things did we leave,
As we dressed up in our adolescent sleeves?
What warm and furry pets, left to pine?
While your red tail lights pulled away,
To live you life, as you well may?
