Those Who Believe
Today churches are held in disdain,
tainted by scandal and outright crime.
And the foundation of faith is chipping,
constantly lied to time after time.
Salvation awaits those who believe,
quoting scripture written for the crowd.
But, everyone's labeled a sinner,
damning whispers who speak aloud.
Religions tend to fuel frustrations,
Divinely steeped in their self-image.
And enforced rules of exclusiveness
incite a dominancy scrimmage.
Once a week, on your knees for an hour,
is not a relationship with God.
But, we seek spiritual blessings,
just in case, God is more than a fraud.
Poets tell us Divine-Presence is clear,
for they see it in all creation.
But amidst war, starvation, and death,
do they see it in Man's damnation?
It doesn't matter if God is real
unless you believe Him to be so.
And if you do, look within your heart,
for if you find Him there, you will know.
