You Own My Heart

I never knew pain, until I missed you Now I feel free from the pain I once held I never knew beauty, until I held your view Now the beauty of the world has opened up for me I never knew sacrifice, until I let you go Now I know you’ll come back and I’m filled with glee I never knew love, until I felt my heart grow Now I embrace what I once withheld I never heard songbirds, until I heard your voice Your words are whispers in my ear I never learned freedom, until you taught me choice You lead me straight when I start to stray I never heard laughter, until you wiped my tears You pick me up when despair holds me sway I never learned trust, until you soothed my fears You hold me close, tender and revere I never dared to dream, I’d arrive at happiness’s door You came to my rescue I never believed I’d see, a reversal of my perpetual bore You brought excitement to my life I never thought I’d be, exempt from struggles, strain, and pain You eased all my strife I never thought I’d say, you give me the reason to love again My heart belongs to you
