You Can't Turn Back
Listen to poem:
Surrounded by people who don’t mean a thing to me
Their voices in the background seem so far from me
I feel the coming of winter
And think of things I shouldn’t remember
Things that are over and done with
A story I should now consider a myth
That’s right, it’s you I’m thinking of…
Why can’t the memory fly away, like the dove
On an autumn’s day
I don’t hear what the people say
I’m absorbed in the sequence of my thoughts
When before my eyes I see spots
My eyes begin to heave with water
Tears roll down, my cheeks get redder
I take a deep breath, remembering the past year
And wipe away another tear
Knowing that’s it’s too late
I can’t argue with fate
We’ve gone our separate ways
And can’t turn back to yesterdays
