You Are In My Blood

If I bleed will that be enough for you?
I am willing to place my heart on the floor.
To be crushed beneath your stilettoed heel!
For this heart is of no use without your love.

I'm willing to place my heart on the floor,
so that you can discover my truth inside.
For this heart is of no use without your love.
Please pick up my heart with delicate hands

So that you can discover the truth inside,
I will no longer hide anything from you!
Please pick up my heart with delicate hands?
Within my blood is the essence of you.

I will no longer hide anything from you.
Today and tommorow bleed from yesterday.
Within my blood is the essence of you!
Dreams dreamt on our seemingly endless nights...

Today and tomorrow bleed from yesterday,
to be crushed beneath your stilettoed heel.
Dreams dreamt on our seemingly endless nights...
If I bleed will that be enough for you?

I didn't know what kind of style pantoum was until I googled it! It is a form of poetry that you’re bonded to follow certain repeating lines. I know you entered a contest with this piece, but to me this poem would have been better without those repeating lines. I liked the concept very much, and you have done a great job manipulating it to that style.

A brilliant PANTOUM Richard! The repetitions are perfectly placed and the grammatical flow does not suffer at all from them. A superb piece for this particular contest. Best wishes for success! Keith

Well done as always, like the repeating lines, what's the difference between this and a terzanelle, just the repeat pattern?

I really liked this, you manage to make repeating lines pleasant and not a chore. I see this is a winner too...of course it is, how could you not win with such a skilled pen :)

Yes, Richard, this should be a contest winner. I wish I would think of entering some of the contests on here as it sounds like fun. Wonderful stark imageries, too.

That's what I tell Dragon all the time... He's the biggest baby I know and he is forever in my heart... I'm just thankful he doesn't wear pointy shoes or stillettoes... LOL... PS. Dragon got in trouble again... Let me know what you think...
