Xeriscaping

"Xeriscaping is drought tolerant low maintenance gardening, imagine if there was a personality conversion option available? Modern lobotomy - just a thought. Perhaps getting a hobby might suffice..." Quote my poet Social xeriscaping, to be hardy type Get rid of the drama, brain will wipe Stop having days where feel too needy Be the total opposite of greedy It's not real, I'm extrapolating Exclusively a gardening thing There's a lesson there, useful too You're rain, I don't want to need you Easy care, totally self contained Couldn't care less if it never rained Nothing to stop my growing phase Perhaps need a couple of the sun's rays I'll be better with loner skills Not chasing a life with all the frills Maybe not, I can already feel the thirst Being totally alone probably the worst

Speak only when you have something to say; listen 99% of the time; rise to emotion as survival dictates determine; silence is not loneliness. :o/

It's an interesting interpretation as independence can be quite subjective, in the sense that what bolsters someone's existence can me a myriad of things. I'm very self sufficient but denying myself the option of nurturing as a comfort via self control could be unnecessararily painful.

Independence can be had through self-control. Perhaps my miss-read. :o/

That's one way of doing it - but perhaps not akin to any way I'm likely to conduct myself. You may be agreeing with my sentiments or suggesting xeriscaping as a metaphor for resilience was a poor use of my air time. Tricky to establish your angle I'm afraid.

I really enjoyed this poem; and the metaphor!

Thanks Paige - it was a bit of a weird meander but the word is so pretty and I didn't have a gardening poem - glad you liked it (I'm giving some thought to whether the link with lobotomies is a bit too much though!)

You don’t make life easy for yourself here Dilly choosing Xeriscaping as your chosen word, kinda torn between a rock and a hard place, and leaves one pondering the dilemma, that life ain’t easy nor can it ever be hassle free, your poem my interpretation, cheers David

Yeah I liked the word and the idea, although it's more the equivalent of storming off than getting a lobotomy haha "I'm going to live in this arid ground!" "Ok, the arid ground idea wasn't all that fun, I'm back"
