Would You Love Me Less If I Wasn'T a Poet Contest
If I wasn't a poet
My mind might be blank
For I wouldn't see
The age of the tree
Texture of woodgrain
Or great bug terrain
Just a plank
If I wasn't a poet
My heart might sit still
For I wouldn't feel
All realities as real
The energy shift
Visualise rift
Just time fill
If I wasn't a poet
Would you love me
For I'd not try to explain
The emotion of rain
Or be lost in word play
For half of each day
Just live simply
If I wasn't a poet, I'd see and feel less
Not fall so deeply into distress
Be stable and able, always just fine
Consistent perhaps, all of the time
Are poets created or born to the art?
It's usually the result of a broken heart
Would you love me less if it wasn't so?
I am, so it seems we'll never know
