========================= Though of my love you knew, you did not treat it well and cared not what befell my soul for love of you But careless as you grew, the harder still I fell... Oh, would that I had turned away right at the start, perhaps then to depart with just a lesson learned But desperation burned! Scorched holes into my heart Now, with this torch I'll lie and love you till I die ========================= August 16, 2015

Lycia, this was my favorite of the poems dealing with love. Heart break can be such an interesting topic and I love how you did this one. Congrats for a well deserved win.

PS - I've written another poem with this style in mind for a children's collection my Mother is putting together. Its called 'Behind Your Closet Door' and aside from the final couplet, stays pretty true to your (most challenging!) format. Of course, I gave you credit in the notes. Check it out, I think you'll like it!
