Words With a Venomous Sting

It was not my intention to ever post in PS again but through an open window I've caught a glimpse and smell of what's been dumped into the soup. No pleasure to poets will cruel deception bring through mendacious words with a venomous sting Clumsy are the fingers thrusting a poisoned dart Villany flows from the arteries of a wicked heart What keeps one hidden in fear behind a mask lurking in shadows whilst imbibing from a flask It's a path encrusted with derision and pretense One a fool walks when guilt becomes immense What price for a soul that's died too many deaths or a life once more restored with sinister breaths How many graves dug when loose threads unravel Move on before the judge wields his mighty gavel Only the naive and gullible would dare to believe such repugnant lines written and meant to deceive A weed in a garden, secreted among stalks of wheat soon to wither and wilt. Such is the fate of a cheat Vinegar in ink from a pen's nib has been interlaced Woe to a deplorable life when it has been disgraced Jagged, the rusted edge honed by a dour personality In darkness looms the lonely; a hallmark of depravity

I hope the arrowhead of this poisonous tip hits its mark Lin. To ignore the offender is the best reaction. I do love your stance and sticking up for all. I somehow missed this POTD honored poem. Belated Congratulations my friend. You are missed! : ) xxoo

Hi Connie. I doubt the person (people) this was meant for realized they are the culprit. Fools never see themselves as they really are, but it felt good to write this, pointing my finger in their direction. I hope all is well with you. Hugs.

I would never forget nice people like you, Charlie. It's for the sake of those nice people that I felt compelled, yes once again, to take up my pen as a sword and slash a few strokes in the direction of the most recent one who has returned to dump more nastiness in the soup. For the moment he's gone under a few alias' but he may already be lurking under a new name(s). Such people are toxic.

Hi. Why don't you try mediation? I'm curious about the politics and would mediate. Want to share the details?

Hannah, I don't need a mediator. The site needs a better system of administering to the needs of its poets and not ignoring their legitimate complaints.

Hi Lin, firstly, congratulations on your poem being honoured with Poem Of the Day. It is a strong, honest poem, as your poetry has always been. I think I am lucky, having the brain problem, my memory not being the best, I can't always remember the things that happen here. I do know I don't really belong. I am sorry that we did lose touch, my fault. I still look on you as a friend. It is sad to hear you are leaving. Have a wonderful Saturday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Hi Mike. Don't feel sad about anything. Actually, I left the soup several months ago, but still look in every once in a while. What I saw recently caused me to write the lines of this one. I feel it's no honor to have written about the appalling things that are taking place. There's a lack of many things that are tearing what should be common bonds apart, but I've moved on to another site. We'll always be able to keep in touch. Take care of yourself. Hugs back to you.

I am so disappointed about this. I had no idea this was going on. I have never received anything but kind comments from ps writers. Jealousy is usually at the root of barbing people, and my own efforts do not invite that.

Your poetry is worthy of inviting positive comments, Sun. I'm sorry I'm not around to read you and other talented poets more often. But I'm not sorry that I left. There are too many flaws to take a more active interest.
Date: 3/29/2019 8:12:00 AM
Powerful write Lin, sorry that you had to write this, I've not had any bad experiences on this site, I stick to myself and I don't give much importance to whatever is going on between others. We know that the whole world lies in the hand of the wicked one, so no surprise that there is badness lurking even where there should be harmony. Take care Sis!

Hi, JD. If only everyone would be as amicable as you are this place would have some sense of harmony. I spent 3 years here before deciding the 'wicked one' had too many helpers adding toxins to the pot. One of which, I'm sad to say, was and is once again, one who should let his no mean no. There will never be harmony until He says, "Enough." I appreciate your wise words, as much as ever.

Lin, It is but a twinkle in time and space. Hold on to your muse, our muse. I don't comment on POTD as a rule. But I know what I like. -Richard When asked why he hadn't turned to run, knowing his platoon was badly overpowered, He sighed and replied, "I'm not a coward, So I rolled the dice and landed on Chance. The top card said Be brave and attack! So we fought until we took our property back."

I don't know why I feel this guilt. Please allow one more indulgence. A quote from Lin Lane's Et Tu Brute': Thy nature be that of a hypocrite... with one hand thy offer a pat on the head with the other, a knife till victim lay dead With thy dagger you stab and you hit. ....And whence you see the baneful flaw of your ways You whilst then know you earned blame, not praise.

Quoth TheRaven just quoted Lin Lane. Thanks for liking that older poem enough to use its last lines. My muse and I stick very closely together although she sometimes leads me where I didn't intend to wander. I appreciate your remarks. Thank you for breaking your rule.

I never knew about any of this - everyone has been kind and encouraging to me, but I have only been on since last October. This is terrible! I have heard that people who do these sorts of things feel frustrated and left out in their personal worlds. Anyway, so sorry this has happened.

Hi Lin, a very powerful poem indeed. It's a shame some have to deal with the nonsense that has been going around of late. I have only been with the Soup for a year now and I have not seen too much, only what I have heard others saying. I have met a lot of fine people here and no matter what is said about me or anyone else, I won't let them ruin my wonderful relationships with some of poetry's finest. Excellent write and a poem that is well deserved of POTD....Charlie Congrats!

It's an old story that's come back to haunt the site. I've left PS too, but from what I've seen in the last week, I wanted to post my thoughts, and am very glad to see my feelings shared by many who've responded. Thank you for joining those who are concerned.

Congratulations on Poem of the Day, Lin ... this is a very powerful piece, and I would expect nothing less from your intelligent pen. I'm very sad to learn and see what I have over the last few days especially, (and see so many good folks leave). Love and kindness should ALWAYS be the standard we create by, not deception and animosity. Blessings.

There's a very affordable software suite for web site construction that can detect most multiple accounts, (even from multiple email addresses and IP masking programs) ... I wonder why that's not a priority here? It is clearly an issue, and a hurtful one. I am an admin on a very popular sports site and we do not allow multiple accounts, (which is pretty standard for most sites) ... it's clear to see why it's an important consideration to be taken seriously.

Congratulations on your POTD Lin. A very revealing and powerful poem. I have only been with Poetry soup for 9 months and do not feel I can in such a short period of time be too judgmental but I sincerely respect your poem and I certainly can see that you are a revered poet of this site. Congratulations my friend on composing a fine poem that seeks to reveal any that hide behind masks to work hateful words and/or and any other nefarious schemes to harm others here. I have no clue who, but such a person would surely need a doctor's professional help, methinks.

Thank you, Robert, but I take no pleasure in having had the impetus to write these verses. I haven't posted a poem in over 3 months, but based on what I've peeked in to see, I felt the urge to put my thoughts in rhyme. I've deleted and blocked comments that were argumentative. My thoughts are just that...MINE. I ask no one to agree but gratefully accept support. What I'll not allow is abuse by anyone who simply wishes to ignite a flame. Nice to see you and hope you're well.

Hi Laney...that's what I love about you...you always know how to stir the soup...especially after it has become cold and crusty...in a sense, it has become that, despite all the beautiful poets that reside here...you know, the rotten apples spoil the rest...my wings have been a little tried as of late...the air is thick and all...'can't we all just get along'...we need some fresh air...'this town needs an enema'... love you, Laney...Congrats!!! on POTD!!...^WW^...{*J*}

Hello, my Warrior. Your endorsement is one of the things I've always loved about you. I hope the stirring is enough to skim the scum floating in the soup.. And yes, it's true about one rotten apple. It needs to be discarded before spoiling the whole barrel. . . Rest your weary wings a while and then refresh your ink well to write beautiful verses. As far as an enema goes, I think I'll leave that purging to the queen of poop. Thank you for leaving great comments, J. Hugs.

- I thank you for this writing, Lin - You, like so many others have been tasting this "rotten meat" ... we all become "sick" of bad ingredients in this soup - Congratulations on yours p.o.t.d. ! - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

One of the many reasons I haven't been around much. Is it too much to ask that civility and decency are projected here, a poetry website. I realize the world is uncivil these days but can't we be civil to one another here? It is always nice to hear your thoughts Lin especially when they speak for many.

I haven't posted anything since mid December, Chris, and I don't intend to post anything else. The world is in chaos and uproar over too many things. It's not too much to expect a site for poets to hold a sanctuary of peaceful accord for people who should have a common bond. It's nice to hear from you, too. Hope you're well.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Tania. I'm not back to continue posting, but I had something I thought needed saying. I was a paying member here for over 3 years, the last two in which I saw it tumbling downhill. More is the pity that it happened, and more so that nothing is done to right the wrongs.

BRAVO lin, I wish soup would deal with the issue of trolls and fake accounts from such hypocrites who are hell bent on causing trouble on the site and sadly admin seem to be burying their heads in the sand. I won't be leaving but probably taking a break I've really had enough of ' a ghost' who lied they died when my dad really was dying of cancer and coming back with fake accounts and causing trouble on the site :-( hugs jan xx
