Word Ladder from Smile to Frown

A SMILE began, a joyful start, Then shadows crept and played a part. The happy face, the light it stole, As busy MOLES dug in their hole. The ROLES reversed, the mood took flight, A different scene in fading light. No longer pleased, a change was born, As someone SWORE upon the morn. A solemn vow, now firmly SWORN, A heavy truth that must be borne. The lighthearted ease has disappeared, A weight of promise, now held dear. Now duty bound, the joy undone, A brow now creased, like early sun, Had left its mark, a weighty crown, And settled deep into a FROWN. ©bfa042525
