With Words

I wish you were dead Says a child And so they died And the child Blames themselves They killed the person with their words And others wonder About it too Can words and wishes Ready come true Be careful what you wish for Be careful what you say Don’t wish evil Be careful what you say It might come true

This is a powerful warning, for it is true. What you say to a child means so much more than you would ever know, and they do think they caused everything in their world including and almost always - their parents' divorce. I have heard them say over and over "If I had been better, they would still be together." Terrific write!
