With a Smile
Piercing silence with a smile
a smile so wide it tempts the trees
to bow to early morning breeze
So wide, it tickles daffodils
that summon lonely whip-poor-wills
And even through their song of woe
a smile does let their spirit flow
Piercing silence with a smile
a smile so great, it shakes the moon
and causes tides to stir and swoon
So great, that even those who hate
might stop and think and hesitate
And even through this time of doubt
a smile reminds what life’s about
