Wistful Flight

The day dawns with a colorful palette It may hold sorrow, or joy It may hold tears the heart can't forget And a flood of emotions you can't hold back We are never prepared for those sad days But love and support from others get us through But the pain lingers long after the day is gone As pieces of the heart are taken too Dulcet birdsongs bring no delight As the heart takes a wistful flight The pain of a loss can be so deep That only tears lull you to sleep

A melancholic, sad poem which most people can feel these emotions of loss. I liked the contrasts of happy and sad.
