Wishing and Hoping --- 2 To 12

Tired as a dog from his day at the office Dad plopped down on the couch at home stretched his arms and sighed a deep sigh -- Just looking at him, you were tired to the bone Five-year-old Sollie came over to snuggle, but Dad turned on the tube and pulled out the paper Paid no attention to his precious son's whimpers Told him, "I'm busy now, son; I'm in no mood for your capers." Little Sollie went away to his room and he cried Couldn't understand Dad's bad mood --- Why? Why? Why? So he returned to the couch, his tears still undried And this is what he said; I swear it's no lie: "Dad I know you're in a bad mood But I got news for you that's good -- Here's something I know you're just wishin' and hopin' Look outside Dad: it's not dark yet. The park is still open!" October 30, 2019 2 to 12 Poetry Contest Sponsor: Beth Evans

Wow, heartbreaking and yet the innocence of that little boy might just have saved his Dad, who was all wrapped up in his own problems. Your poems just seem to get better and better Gershon. Goes into my Faves! Ron

Ron, your comment nails it. That little fellow was so innocent, and his enthusiasm revived his semi-moribund Dad that evening. Appreciate your generous words about the poem, and the FAVE simply makes my evening. Thank you so much, my dear friend! Have a great evening and morning. (Sometimes I forget that you're across the big pond!). Cheerio, and Cheers! ~ Gershon
